25.01.2022 Then there's the destination. And that is Sturgis South Dakota, the home of the famous Sturgis Bike Week and our destination for the 2020 tour to the 80th Anniversary of this incredible rally. What is there to say about Sturgis that hasn't been said a million times over....its just the most mind blowing time that you simply have to experience to believe. There's so much to do whether you want to ride to see the local sights of Mount Rushmore, Crazy Horse Monument, Devil's Tow...er, Custer National Park and the Needles Highway to name but a few. And there are so many places to party....Buffalo Chip is perhaps the most famous of them, or there's the recently rebuilt Full Throttle Saloon and the fabulous One Eyed Jacks on Main Street for the Aussie night on Tuesdays; all are party central. Wanna shop? Well make sure you bring empty suitcases coz you'll easily fill them and more. Black Hills Harley-Davidson is a must as well as Main Street where you'll find stall after stall of vendors of all types. Then there's bikes and bikes and bikes - a veritable sea of machinery of every stage of customisation. Eye candy of every sort. So take a look at some of the pics below for an example of the type of things you can do and see in Sturgis when you join us in 2020 for the Gaz Luxmoore Signature tour; book now! https://www.eaglerider.com//gaz-luxmoore-salt-lake-city-to And as always, please do share this post and like the site...

24.01.2022 I don't know who took this amazing picture, so right up front, I do want to acknowledge him/her. It seems to epitomise the very heart of riders and of riding. 24.01.2022 The remarkable diversity of landscapes in the southwest corner of South Dakota ensures the rider of an amazing choice of rides during Sturgis Bike Week. The twisities of the Black Hills, the incredible Custer National Park and the long endless prairie lands all entice the rider to keep eating up the miles. But one of my favourite places to ride is through the Badlands about 70 odd miles to the East of Rapid City. The Lakota people were the first to call this place "mako sica..." or "land bad" partially due to the extreme temperatures, the relative lack of water, and the exposed rugged terrain. It's captivating riding and another 'must do' during Bike Week. Also the quaint town of Wall is a good stop off for a coffee and snack and a visit to the Harley-Davidson merchandise shop. The town of Wall I find a bit plastic and artificial but the riding in the Bad Lands is just majestic. Haven't made up your mind yet? Well, go on line to get the full Sturgis low down and then .... well, just do it! Sharing is caring so please let all your mates and colleagues know of this tour.... https://www.eaglerider.com//gaz-luxmoore-salt-lake-city-to

23.01.2022 Fact really is sometimes stranger than fiction, as the old adage goes. In 2009 when 4 of us were doing stupid things like riding around all of the 48 USA mainland states in under 10 days (the IBA's 48/10), and we were crossing into Alabama, I turned on the bike radio and guess what was playing? No BS, it really was Lynyrd Skynyrd's "Sweet Home Alabama"!! Ya couldn't script it could ya! Well, Buffalo Chip have just released news that for the very last time, this band will p...lay at Sturgis 2020. Now that alone (plus one of my all time fave bands ZZ Top) is enough to make sure that I'm there! You can be too. There are still spots available on our 80th anniversary Sturgis tour....take a look and book at: https://www.escapademotorcycletours.com.au/index.cfm

22.01.2022 Well we talked last time about the destination and the journey. But let's focus today on just the journey. Our 2020 Sturgis Escapade departs from Salt Lake City Utah and then takes in some of the simply incredible sights of the Tetons, Jackson Hole, Yellowstone National Park and of course Bear Tooth Pass before spending time in Cody WY and then seeing the fabulous Devils Tower. Some pics below show a mere glimpse of the magnificence of these roads. Those of you who've ridden... there will attest to just how wonderful this route is. But if you feel its not enough, just ask and we can work out adding to the tour for you and starting from, say Las Vegas and then taking in Zion National Park before getting to Salt Lake City - too easy. And similarly, if you want a bit more after Sturgis and want to ride on after the scheduled end at Denver Colorado, let's see what we can do to extend the tour for you and take in the simply inspiring Million Dollar Highway from Montrose to Durango and then even further to see the Mesa Verde National Park, the Grand Canyon and some of R66 in Arizona before ending in sin city, Las Vegas. Tell me what you want to do. Check out the route, prices and booking at https://www.eaglerider.com//gaz-luxmoore-salt-lake-city-to and of course please do share this post with your friends and colleagues - take it easy there and stay safe.

21.01.2022 About 12 miles (19.3 km) from Sturgis, is the town of Deadwood where history just seems to come alive. It's an amazing little town with an incredible history and it's now pretty well as much a part of Sturgis Bike Week, as Sturgis itself. In fact many people prefer to stay in Deadwood as opposed to Sturgis during Bike Week. Deadwood has a fascinating history since gold was discovered there in 1874 setting off one of the great gold rushes in America. In 1876, miners moved into... the northern Black Hills and this tiny gold camp boomed into a town that, just like much of the 'wild west', played by its own rules, thus attracting all sorts of different people, all keen to seek out their fortunes. Names that have morphed into legends such as Wild Bill Hickok and Calamity Jane are still remembered in this tiny Black Hills town. So if you're interested in this fantastic part of US history, or just want to party more and more, make sure you get to Deadwood during our layover days at Sturgis Bike Week. More details of the tour and bookings can be found at: https://www.eaglerider.com//gaz-luxmoore-salt-lake-city-to as always guys n gals please share the hell outta this post

19.01.2022 The Mother Road crosses 8 different States, starting in Illinois then meandering through Missouri, Kansas, Oklahoma, Texas, New Mexico, Arizona and then ending in California. I've often been asked which State represents the best of R66. Its a bit of an unfair question really as all of the 8 States represent an integral part of the magnificent story that is America's Highway and each one has fantastic memories of R66. But if I'm pushed, even though I love them all, I do have a... couple of States that I just relish riding through; Texas and Arizona Texas has so many amazing things to see and do with the Big Texan Steak House and the incredible Cadillac Ranch a must. Then what can you say about Arizona. Flagstaff, Williams, Seligman, Kingman and of course Oatman all being must visit places. And visit all of these places we do on our R66 tour starting in June 2020. Check it out; www.escapademotorcycletours.com.au and make sure you book soon. There really are only limited spaces. What's your favourite spot on R66? Let me know...

19.01.2022 Firstly, a huge thanks to the magnificent job the fireys and first responders are doing, amid perhaps some of the worst fires this country has seen for a very, very long time. I don't think I truly appreciated just how incredible these people are until we saw it pretty well first hand around Coffs Harbour over the past week. THANK YOU. Secondly we're delighted to announce that our 2021 Sturgis tour is almost already sold out. That's good news indeed but not if you were plann...ing to ride to Sturgis that year. But, don't despair, as there are still spots available for our 2020 tour to the 80th anniversary of this incredible event. So don't wait, get online now and make sure you book your spot for Sturgis 2020. Love to have you on the tour Bookings and a full detailed itinerary can be found at https://www.eaglerider.com//gaz-luxmoore-salt-lake-city-to And if you know anyone who's contemplating a tour, please share this - aww - just share it anyway

18.01.2022 There's only 1 Sturgis (well there's actually 1 in Mississippi, 1 in Kentucky and 1 in Michigan but lets just focus on THE Sturgis) and that's where we'll be in August next year, 2020 for the 80th anniversary of Sturgis Bike Week. That's Sturgis South Dakota. But how did it all start and when? Well obviously it began 80 years ago next year, in 1938 when a small group of riders got together to race their motorcycles and have a bunch of fun. Hey you might say, that's more than ...80 years but there were 2 years during WWII when the event was not held. The bikers were known as the Jackpine Gypsies Motorcycle Club which later organised the Sturgis Motorcycle Rally along with a fellow member and owner of the Indian Motorcycle Shop, J.C. "Pappy" Hoel. The official campground of the rally is the Pappy Hoel campground in honour of the founders of the rally. And since then, the event has grown and grown with the primary purpose still of having fun....and what a hell of a lot of fun it is too. From an initial core of just a few dozen people Sturgis SD now hosts in the vicinity of about 500,000 visitors each year. With the 80th anniversary next year, I wouldn't mind betting the previous record of about 700,000 in 2015 just might be bettered. There are still places available on the Gaz Luxmoore Signature Tour so check it out at: https://www.eaglerider.com//gaz-luxmoore-salt-lake-city-to And please, as always, do share this post with all your friends and anyone you know who's even thinking of partying at Sturgis 2020. Many thanks and credit to those who originally took some of these photos.

17.01.2022 Now that our R66 and Sturgis tours are nearing capacity, its time to turn our attention to the third of our tours in 2020. Early October see us headed towards some really new and incredibly exciting riding..... R66 and Sturgis are both amazing tours for sure but there is something just incredible and different about our Triple B tour. The rolling mountain roads will have you ...on cloud nine, while the soulful sounds of the South penetrate to the bone. From the Big Easy you'll head north through the Blues Trail. These roads sing the history of America. Nightclubs, juke joints, speakeasies, and honky-tonks abound, and the mouth-watering BBQ and bourbon will satisfy the biggest of appetites. Once we head into the Appalachians you get to ride the notorious Tail of the Dragon 318 turns in only 11 miles! 16.01.2022 Its the song that saved a town. Just ask the locals in Winslow AZ and theyll tell you that the town was slowly dying until The Eagles came out with their hit Take it Easy. From that moment forth so many people wanted to be; ......standing on the corner in Winslow Arizona, such a fine sight to see, its a girl my Lord, in a flat bed Ford, slowing down to take a look at me........ And Winslow AZ is definitely a stop on the Escapade R66 tour in 2020. You too can see if a girl in a flat bed Ford will take a look at you! 15.01.2022 It'll never be finished in my lifetime and I wonder if it will ever be finished, but the Crazy Horse Monument in Custer National Park, SD is a true testament to belief, to history, to native culture and to sheer tenacity. Some have named it the 8th wonder of the world and given the massive amount of work that's gone into it since its commencement in 1948, you can see why its perhaps headed that way. Once finished, it will become the world's largest monument. The first part of... the monument features a completed, 87-foot-tall head of Crazy Horse, but overall, it's far from finished. It's under construction on privately held land in the Black Hills, in Custer County, South Dakota. It will depict the Oglala Lakota warrior, Crazy Horse, riding a horse and pointing into the distance. There is a model of the finished monument that shows you just what it will look like some time in the future. Just like so much else on our 80th Anniversary Sturgis Tour, this is also a 'must see'....but in order to do that, to see Crazy Horse, Mt Rushmore, Devils Tower, Buffalo Chip, and all the myriad of others amazing sights... you must book! So go online at https://www.eaglerider.com//gaz-luxmoore-salt-lake-city-to and make sure you secure your spot to experience the fantastic one and only STURGIS BIKE WEEK As always PLEASE share the hell out of all of these posts so that your mates will want to come with you - thanks heaps :)

14.01.2022 It's one of the most visited paces in the Dakotas with over 2.5 million visitors every year according to the National Park Service and it's a mandatory place for a ride, when you're in Sturgis for Bike Week. There's a whole bunch of facts about Mt Rushmore that you might want to research before visiting and here are but a few: 1. It was the brainchild of one Doane Robinson, who's known as the Father of Mount Rushmore". Love that name...Doane.... 2. A dude by the name of Gutzon Borglum was the sculptor, although he never finished it. It was finished by another sculptor, Augustus Lukeman. 3. The monument took 14 years to complete starting in 1927 and ending in 1941. 4. Mount Rushmore in the Black Hills was chosen because of the large expanse of granite available. 5. The four presidents were chosen to represent the nation's birth, growth, development, and preservation, respectively. 6. Each president was originally to be depicted from head to waist, but lack of funding forced construction to end. Who can name all four - without checking on line??? Make sure you book soon for the 2020 Gaz Luxmoore signature tour to Sturgis at: https://www.eaglerider.com//gaz-luxmoore-salt-lake-city-to

14.01.2022 The world famous Route 66, known as The Mother Road, or The Main Street of America is over 2400 miles (3,860km) long and transverses 8 States over 3 time zones. Join us in June 2020, on this motorcycle tour of the iconic Route 66 where much of the original classic roads, diners, restaurants and gas stations still exist. Departing from Chicago and riding to Santa Monica CA, this tour is created in heaven for motorcycle touring. ... Simply stated this is the guided tour of America! Checkout some of the pix from past R66 escapades and visit our website for information about the 2020 tour. See ya there!! https://escapademotorcycletours.com.au

14.01.2022 Quirky, iconic, nostalgic, historic, kitschy, Americana...all describe the incredible sights that litter the route from Chicago Illinois to Los Angeles California along Route 66. And there are so many of them. So many sights that its practically impossible to take them all in. But take them in we do, on our amazing Route 66 Tour in 2020. Places are filling and bikes are limited so make sure you go to our website www.escapademotorcycletours.com.au and get yourself a spot on th...e Route 66 tour next year. Here are just a few of my favourite sights..there are far, far too many to post here. What are some of the words you'd use to describe Route 66?

12.01.2022 One of my favourite stopovers en route to Sturgis, has to be Cody Wyoming. It's a small place with just on 10,000 permanent residents but in the weeks either side of Sturgis Bike Week, the population swells to many, many thousands more. The town of Cody is named after after Colonel William Frederick "Buffalo Bill" Cody so those captivated by America's Wild West past, will revel in the history of this lovely town. There are no less than 5 museums and these include the Buffalo... Bill Museum, the Draper Natural History Museum, with wildlife exhibits and nearby, Old Trail Town is a re-created frontier town with 1800's log cabins and a saloon. Now to be honest, I guess I must be a bit of a philistine as I'm generally not that interested in museums, but the Buffalo Bill museum is simply a 'must see'. During the week or so leading up to Sturgis Bike Week, Cody often has night rodeos, again enhancing the experience for the passing rider. These are a lot of fun regardless of whether you're an aficionado or not. I think the draw card of the town, is the very old landmark, the Irma Hotel that just rocks night after night as riders head towards Sturgis. It was built by "Buffalo Bill" Cody, and named it after his daughter Irma Cody. A focal point is a famous back bar made of cherry that was a gift given by Queen Victoria to Buffalo Bill. And of course we visit Cody on our 2020 Gaz Luxmoore Signature Sturgis Tour. Take a look at the itinerary and book early for the 80th anniversary of Sturgis Bike Week at: https://www.eaglerider.com//gaz-luxmoore-salt-lake-city-to .....delight a mate or colleague please by sharing the hell outta this post

08.01.2022 We do visit some pretty cool places on our Sturgis Tour and one of them is Devils Tower in Wyoming. I guess its a bit like Uluru in that it holds some really special significance to the local indigenous peoples as well as a being a huge tourist destination.Depending on the tribe, the legend differs and its really worthwhile reading these various stories. Devils Tower stands 264.2 metres from base to summit and is a butte, (which is an isolated hill with steep sides and a flat... top) composed of igneous rock in the Bear Lodge Ranger District of the Black Hills. Its very near some quaint towns, Hulett and Sundance, in northeastern Wyoming and is on our route as we come into Sturgis. It was described to me by a local, a couple of years back, as 'the big nipple' and whilst I'm not too sure how PC that is, I guess its pretty obvious how this description came about. Have you booked yet for the 80th anniversary of Sturgis Bike Week Tour? We still have spots available so go on line at https://www.eaglerider.com//gaz-luxmoore-salt-lake-city-to and make sure of your spot.....have a good one

08.01.2022 Our Triple B tour (Blues, Blue Ridge and BBQ) encompasses one of the US's most engaging rides, the Tail of the Dragon! This legendary road, the US129, has 318 curves in just 11 miles and borders North Carolina and Tennessee. Whilst a tricky ride, we have technically as difficult, if not more difficult, roads in Australia and New Zealand. Yet every year, there are riders killed on The Dragon, mostly due to rider error and stupidity, but as its a road open to all traffic, truck...s and cars have been guilty of causing mayhem! There's even a Tree of Shame with parts from those who've come to grief on the Dragon. We have the thrill of riding the Dragon during our tour this year so why not join us to tick this one off!! https://www.escapademotorcycletours.com.au/index.cfm Tell your mates, you're up for the challenge of slaying the dragon!!

07.01.2022 "It's not the destination, it's the journey" we often say. But in some cases, it's both. And with Sturgis Bike Week, well its clearly both. To get to Sturgis, we ride some of the most incredible roads, taking in vistas and sights that create memories for a lifetime. So the journey itself, really is amazing. But then there's Sturgis Bike Week and wow, what can you say about Sturgis....for many bikers, its the Mecca of motorcycling and one at the top of the bucket list. Here's ...your chance to tick this one off - and be there for the 80th anniversary of the legendary Sturgis Bike Week.... For more information and to book go to: https://www.eaglerider.com//gaz-luxmoore-salt-lake-city-to There are limited bikes available so get in quickly and let us help make your motorcycling dreams become reality Please share this post with your friends.

05.01.2022 I got a call last week from a really nice guy thinking about joining our 2020 Sturgis Tour, asking what are the best rides around the area during Bike Week. That's a very difficult question to answer, I said, as everyone has different interests and the beauty of Sturgis Bike Week, is that once we get there, riders can do the things that interest them. Its your time, I told him. Some want to party, some want to ride, some want to shop, some want a tattoo reminder, some want ...to wander, some want to do it all!! Dave asked what are my favourite rides and, if I'm pushed, I'd had to say the incredible Needles Highway, Devils Tower (or the Big Nipple as some of the local wags call it) and the eerie Badlands. All are simply just amazing. Those who've ridden these roads will attest to that! And all National Park entry fees are included in the tour fee. So why not join us and find out for yourself! Discover more and book for 2020 at: https://www.eaglerider.com//gaz-luxmoore-salt-lake-city-to Know anyone else talking about going to Sturgis 2020? Why not share this post and get them excited!
