19.01.2022 Fishing is still good out around the Banks for all reef species, although the bonitoand kingfish seem to have moved on now the tide is pushing up from the south. We had a go on the shelf for gemfish and bagged out after about three drops to the bottom, also had ocean perch and red fish. I heard from a reliable source that there were many yellowfin on Saturday of the Bay, most of the fish were said to be jumping all around and proved very difficult to catch.

17.01.2022 At last the reef fishing shows signs of improving, despite the rough weather over the weekend the fishing was very good, the guys on Sunday had a good day with plenty of snapper and other reef species. The kingfish have gone quiet again, we did get one legal one on live bait and dropped a couple of others.

17.01.2022 At last we finally got out fishing on the weekend, the tide is pushing down at nearly two knots around the Banks, there were no reports of any kingfish being caught there only a couple at the Block that I heard of, the reef fishing was a bit slow around the Banks with only a couple of reds being caught, out on the Block was much better with pinkies and jackets there, although the tide made it very difficult fishing we did end up with a good lot of fish.

16.01.2022 We never got out at all over the weekend because of the bad weather, the previous weekend was good fishing out on the block with a lot of pinkies, ocean perch, kingfish up to 6 kg and three good sized dolphin fish. I did hear the tide is pushing down again with a lot of bonito at the Banks again with a few kingfish as well.

12.01.2022 We are at last getting out because of the weather, there are some kings around the 70cm mark at the Banks and there had been good numbers of reef fish there up until this weekend. It was hard to find some reds but the kings made up for the lack of reef fish, it looks as if the tide is starting to pick up and run hard pushing south with two knots there yesterday and the trawlers reporting nearly three knots on the shelf.

11.01.2022 We fished from Friday through Monday and the reef fishing is terrible, these photos show a sample of the best reef fish we caught over three of the days, there were a few flathead as well but not many, the tide pushing down has made the reef fishing outside 20 fathoms almost impossible, we did get to the Banks on Monday to have a go at some kingfish and the conditions were just fishable, there are a lot of kings there and some great fish to 15kgs but all seem to be in the rough water just below the main hump, made for an exciting mornings fishing, hopefully the tide will back off and it will settle down.

10.01.2022 We only fished Saturday again this weekend because of the weather, I am pleased to say that the fishing is still good. There were a couple of kingfish around the Banks but mainly throw backs, did manage two legal ones, lots of bonito on the main hump if you like them.

10.01.2022 At last we got out reef fishing over the weekend, although rough seas on Sunday we managed to get to the Banks, lots of undersized kingfish but we did get a couple of keepers, there were some nice reds around with a good mix of other reef fish.Out in 42 to 55 fathoms there were any number of jackets ranging from mediums to large, had to come in to shallower water to get away from them, hopefully the weather will improve especially on the weekends.

06.01.2022 After missing so much time on the water because of terrible weather we did fish today in some very bad weather. The reef fishing around the Banks was very good with a lot of quality reef fish being caught. The kingfish have been a bit quiet over the last few days but the pros did have some nice fish earlier in the week. Also there have been some bluefin caught this week by long liners wide of Ulladulla.

05.01.2022 Only fished on Saturday because of the weather, the reef fishing is still not good, there has been very few kingfish at the banks over the last week, the pros have been getting a lot of bonito though.

03.01.2022 Despite the windy conditions on the weekend the group from Castle Hill fishing club had a reasonable day out, we ended up with a mixed bag of reds, mowies, jackets and a couple of pigfish, the tide was pushing up at nearly two knots making it very difficult. There were a few kings taken on the main hump on Saturday while there was some tide but seemed to have vanished on Sunday when the tide had backed off.

01.01.2022 Last Friday was a great day at the Banks with the kings biting very well, we had eleven fish up to 10 kgs, returning there on Saturday the tide had stopped running and there was not a fish to be found, the same also for Sunday, the tide had started running north so that may be the end of the kingfish at the Banks. The reef fishing is still toughat the moment with the guys on board having to work very hard for the fish they caught.
