I lived and worked on the Scenic Rim in SE Qld guiding kids in Outdoor Education. I lived in Wolgan Valley guiding kids in Outdoor Education. I trained in Outdoor Education in the Blue Mountains and the Southern Highlands in NSW. Worked i...n Outdoor Education guiding in Kosciusko National Park on the high plains. Have walked the 665 km of the Australian Alpine Walking Track solo over 38 days. And lastly, 18 months ago I lived at the National Base of Outward Bound Australia based in the ACT in Tharwa for almost 3 years guiding kids through the Namadgi National Park and the Orroral Valley. Fond and priceless memories. Since everywhere Ive worked and lived on the mainland is now desimated due to this fire season, sitting here in Hobart I cant imagine how hard it has been for them. The bush will recover it always does. Hanging on tight for the little community in Tharwa in the ACT over the next 48 hours and praying the ACT fires and the current predicted models dont pan out. Its been heart wrenching to watch my friends and their families so displaced with lost homes already. The real heros are those in the RFS and those who amongst our communities assist those less fortunate. And currently, Commissioner Georgeina Whelan in the ACT for her tireless updates on what will always be my second home at OBA Australia in the ACT.
