25.01.2022 A night fishing on Sydney Harbour always turns up surprises. Kingfish are on the prowl through the day but this is the first one I’ve seen caught at night. My mate Col thought it may be a good size Tailor, but we love our Kings so it was great to slip him in the net and send him back on his way.

18.01.2022 I will be heading over to NZ next year to chase some Rainbow Trout. I’ve been fortunate to land a few beauties in the north Island Tongariro River. The big girl here took me down 3 sets of rapids and I thought I’d never land her. When she slid into the net I was thrilled. My best Rainbow Trout on fly for certain. Great fun. !!! Has anyone been fishing in NZ ?
17.01.2022 A few nice Snapper from the vault. When a big Red hits your soft plastic that first powerful run sends your heart racing. The beat of the tail shooting up the line as it dominates the fight starts you thinking about your knots and if you tied them well enough. As the fight goes on the demons flash evil thoughts about the big ones you have lost in the past. Surely you will land this one. The relief when that beautiful huge Snapper slides into the net is incredible. Your on top of the world!
17.01.2022 Surtees boats are renown for their soft safe ride and that’s exactly what I got when I spent the week battling 25 knot winds north of the Kepple Islands. We caught a bunch of awesome fish and always felt safe and secure in the rough windy conditions. @surteesboats @shimano.fish @garminmarine @hondamarineaus
16.01.2022 River Kingfish come in all shapes and sizes but it's essential to use the gear that's capable of landing you the biggest fish in the river if it hits you! 14.01.2022 Big Storms In Darwin for my first real fishing trip of season 22 of Escape Fishing. I’m heading to the remote Mini Mini System to chase Barra, Threadfin, Black Jew, Fingermark, Queenfish and Trevally can’t wait for tomorrow when we head west from Darwin to fishing heaven.

11.01.2022 I have just returned from a 3 day trip to the Snowy Mountains to experience The Fly Program which was incredible to say the least. 10.01.2022 Seriously insane fishing !!!!! We spotted this Murray Cod on our Garmin live scope screen about 20 metres off to the side of the boat. I pitched my big soft plastic about 5 meters past him then with this amazing technology watched the lure drop down to the depth the Cod was at and slowly rolled it softy past the big fish. One twitch and a slow roll towards the boat and the Murray Cod turned on the screen, followed it up and smashed it. The hook up was solid and moments later I had this 93cm beauty in the net. We watched the whole thing on the @garminmarine Livescope screen simply amazing !!

10.01.2022 I’ve been waiting for this Magic Moment when I could hold my first Grandson for the very first time. My eldest daughter Tiarne and husband Dan had 9 pound Leo earlier this week and came home today. It sure is amazing to have one of your kids have their own and I’m thrilled it’s a healthy little boy. Footy training for Leo starts this week with fishing lessons to follow soon. I’ll keep you posted. In love with my little grandson, the best !!!

09.01.2022 Myself and 3 mates launching our Hobie kayaks off the beach then casting towards the reef with the aim to catch a Snapper. After three days of big swell we thought the Snapper would be in the shallows feeding where the sand and gravel meet the reef. Loads of different species caught but only a couple of Snapper in the mixed catch. @hobieasiapacific @shimano.fish

05.01.2022 Green Jobfish are a powerful tropical species that roam the tropical reefs. I have caught them on surface poppers but this one ate a large fish bait on a paternoster rig in 60 metres of water. The Shimano rig with 50 pound power pro braid on a Saragosa reel did the job easily.

02.01.2022 Today I’m getting a fly fishing lesson from The Fly Program founder and host Mat Tripet. The Fly Program is a charity that I will be supporting from now on to help Men’s Mental Health.
