23.01.2022 Today we transitioned inside by practicing our lockdown procedure. We spoke about how to call the police for help when there is an emergency. Then we watched a personal safety video. Inside play involved playdough, collage, paint, hole punching, hammering, clay, rocks, blocks, singing, dancing, reading and role play.

21.01.2022 We are excited to announce that we have entered the 2020 Somerset Garden Competition in the Best Business/Community Group Garden category. So between now and the 7th of October we are doing everything we can to optimise our beautiful gardens. Our kindy kids are just as invested as we are and have been busy planting and watering. They really love seeing our plants flourish. First place winners in each of the three major categories will recieve a $500 cash prize and a Searles prize pack valued at $100.

18.01.2022 Marble runs are tricky. Each piece of bamboo has to go under the piece before it. They need to slope downwards and stay connected. Having multiple engineers constructing it all at once, requires communication and patience. There is a lot of trial and error, assessment and critical thinking required. When it works as designed and the marble makes its way through the run though, its totally worth the effort!

17.01.2022 I have to say, our kindy kids lunchboxes definitely look as great as these!

15.01.2022 Teaching personal safety is a great way to protect your children. Check out this article for more information. #childprotectionweek

12.01.2022 We are pleased to inform you that our Kindy will be open tomorrow as usual. However, as per the Queensland Government announcement today, the wearing of masks (for people over the age of 12) will be compulsory from 5pm today for all of Queensland. This also means that families attending a C&K centre must wear a mask when at the centre. Our staff will be required to wear a mask when interacting with adults but not when working with children in the learning spaces, includin...g the outdoors. We ask you to please keep your child home if they are unwell or showing any signs of illness. We would like to assure you that the safety of your children, families and our staff is our first priority. Please ensure that you adhere to physical distancing guidelines of 1.5 metres and hand washing guidelines when attending our centre. We will be following enhanced cleaning procedures. Thank you for your understanding.

10.01.2022 Sometimes educators lead activities, we initiate transitions, share ideas and provide resources. Other times, we simply observe the creativity and innovation demonstrated by the children as they play and learn. Have a look at some of the activities they got up to today, in our Sensory Adventure Garden.

10.01.2022 Great to see the Somerset Newspapers write up of our Golf Day last weekend

09.01.2022 Who else loves good music and a dance?

09.01.2022 Creativity comes in many forms. Sometimes deliberate, other times spontaneous. It involves expertise, creative-thinking skills, and intrinsic motivation. Everyone learns in their own way, in their own time and we think thats pretty special.

09.01.2022 Today we 'headed out the back' and enjoyed a relaxing time in our Sensory Garden. It is wonderous to observe how much the plants have grown over time. "This one is spiky!" "And this one feels so soft!" This is such a special environment for exploration and discovery. We also enjoyed a lively game of "What's The Time Mr Wolf?"

09.01.2022 We are all set up for judging tomorrow. The artworks are displayed anonymously. Voting for Peoples Choice is now available. Please vote by clicking the like button on the artwork. Links to the albums are in the comments. #artcompetition2020 #qldchildprotectionweek

07.01.2022 Look at this amazing Dinosaur Land which Miss Abby created for us! The children absolutely love it and will play with it for a long time to come. Well worth the hours she put into making it! It is incredibly what can be made out of recyclable materials and a creative mind! Thank you Miss Abby

06.01.2022 One of our Kindy Dads, Matt spent the day with us today. Molly was SO excited to have her dad come, and the excitement was contagious! Matt was so busy all day, including growing 'kid' trees in the sandpit, Search and Rescue from our boat, treating patients in the Doctors Surgery, and creating Easter crafts. Matt also taught us a song in Italian, a language close to his heart due to his Italian heritage Thanks for a great day Matt, it was fun having you spend the day with us.

05.01.2022 We love a good newspaper article! Check this one out on page 23 of The Somerset- September 9, 2020.

05.01.2022 Today Miss Abby talked with us about her childhood, living in Papua New Guinea. On the globe we saw where PNG is in relation to Australia, and we looked at photos of Abby's experiences. Abby shared with us a number of artefacts typical of traditional Papua New Guinea living. It was great to examine each item as we passed them around the circle, and to listen to her stories. As children explore new cultures, they learn new ideas and it helps broaden their view of our world.

02.01.2022 Today was our Making A Mark On Our Community workshop with local artist Shirley Henderson. In small groups the children worked with clay, and Shirley led with the theme of Our Community. The creations were varied and original. They didn't take long to cook in the bench top oven. We look forward to using colourful artist's pens to continue the mark making on our creations before our exhibition on December 5th. Watch this space!
