24.01.2022 After a great workout on our new script ‘Jack and Millie’ and feeling good, I poured myself a big fat gin. Bloody lovely. Poured another, it is Saturday night afterall. Bart and I prepared dinner together dancing through the chopping. Then my son joined us in the kitchen and said Shadowfax also sells this lovely non-alcoholic gin. Whaaattt! It wasn’t even cheap.

14.01.2022 Such an inspiring afternoon with an incredible artist, David Mullens. Like everyone, I have different sides to my personality. I can be a deep thinker, turning over every stone searching for answers. But not today. 09.01.2022 August was suppose to be a celebration of all thing The Scrunch Test! Alas Covid has postponed this production for now- but we will resurrect this gem of a play... for your enjoyment in 2021 (we have everything crossed!!). But today we thought we'd celebrate how far this play has come in the past few years. The Scrunch Test is a a black comedy written by our professional partner Alaine Beek of Essence Productions. The play is based on true events of her Scottish parents moving to Australia. It explores real issues of alcoholism and the challenges of coming out as gay to one’s own family. And it all happens on Christmas Day. The play was awarded People’s Choice Best Script and People Choice Best Performance in 2017 at the National Playwright Competition. Three of our members Chris de Zeeuw and Jeremy Withers, Alaine Beek were in the cast along with Ross Daniels (who won Best Male Actor). Since then it has been rigorously workshopped and developed including a rehearsed reading performed at Hastie’s Cottage in November 2019. Its journey has continued with Dramaturge input from Syd Brisbane and a further reading in April 2020. The play was scheduled to be performed at The Wyndham Cultural Centre in August celebrating a new original script coming from Wyndham’s own artists.
07.01.2022 I’ve always believed live performance is not just the play, it’s the whole experience and this article captures that so well. Breathing the same air with the actors as we watch them in the moment, baring their soul, engaging us. I miss so much the shows at Werribee Park. The plays are immersive with the audience being part of the story. We’d respond to what the audience gave us, intimately, instantly. So each night prior to bringing them in to our fold, we‘d wonder what the audience would give us. Love it, miss it. Sadly Covid means this in-your-face theatre in a beautiful old mansion will be a while before returning. But we will, we will. Have to.
