22.01.2022 It’s time to turn to the wisdom of Sammy J Hockey Victoria stated in a meeting held tonight that there will not be a 2020 winter season. Our current lockdown plus the knowledge that the easing of restrictions come in stages led to the conclusion that a modified winter season is no longer viable in metro Melbourne. We know how hard so many people worked to keep the season alive. Players, committees, coaches, Hockey Victoria staff- all did preseason twice. The second prese...ason being shrouded in uncertainty and COVID-19 safe protocols was demanding but the enthusiasm to play was evident. Thank you to all who gave of their time to support our members in their determination to start the season. Where to now? Hockey Victoria are already thinking about how a summer season might look. However it will be some time before we will have information about this. We will also work as a club on how we might enjoy hockey later in the year when it is safe to do so. We will continue to keep in touch with our members. For now we all need to prioritise doing what we can to protect our community. For the sake of those you love, for the sake of our health system, for the good of our community; observe Melbourne’s current restrictions. Sammy J is here to help you with just one aspect. Look after one another.
22.01.2022 Some fun viewing for Bombers. Yesterday's flashback Friday from HV. Looking forward to seeing this sort of action in 2020

19.01.2022 Hockey Victoria released a statement this afternoon on Covid-19 pandemic and their recommendations in the current climate- https://hockeyvictoria.org.au/news/covid-19-information/ Further to this information the Essendon Hockey Board and Sections have made the decision to suspend junior training and our Hook in2Hockey program until further notice and postpone all senior training and practice matches until the 30th of March when we will review the situation. This decision ...includes members training in groups at Essendon independent of club sanctioned training. We believe postponing is the most responsible option for the continued health and well-being of our community. The current situation presents unprecedented challenges for our section committees and board and we are thinking proactively about how we can approach the season in the changing and uncertain climate we are presently faced with. 18.01.2022 How cute is this little bunny... Please donate today if you can!
18.01.2022 Our thoughts are with the Snowden family today as we offer our sincere condolences to Jed and Hugh and their mum Kathleen for the loss of her Father and the boys Grandfather, Kevin Weir. Kevin was a proud sideline spectator and supporter of Hugh and Jed at Essendon Hockey over the years.
17.01.2022 Aw...look at these two .
16.01.2022 Every year during women's round the Essendon Hockey community support the National Breast Cancer Foundation. Having missed our chance this year, you might like to throw your support behind The Red Hot Chilli Steppers who have committed to walking 10,000 steps a day in August to raise funds for the NBCF. Use this link to donate : https://tinyurl.com/donateRedHotChilliSteppersBCNA The team includes Bombers: Bec Anselmi, Jane Park, Carol Roe, Daisy Brown and Parkville friend Lindy Arc-Dekker. Keep an eye out for them as they give the appearance of training for the Olympic walking events as they smash out their 10,000 steps in an hour! As 2020 continues to challenge us all we know it may be a difficult year to make a donation. The team would welcome your shout out of support as an alternative
16.01.2022 This afternoon's announcement by the Premier and the location of Essendon Hockey facilities in an identified local lock down suburb means we have suspended all hockey activities at Essendon immediately. We will wait for further advice from Hockey Victoria about the impact of this announcement on the proposed season and advise members via Team App. We would expect all members to play a role in reducing the community transmission of the virus and to think about the the continued health and well-being of our community. To stay up to date with information please visit: https://www.dhs.vic.gov.au/coronavirus #flattenthecurve

12.01.2022 Today's announcement sees even more of our members joining lockdown round two. Thinking of you all. Inspired by life member David Landgren stating that he spent time in the shed "sorting out his screws" for something to do .... we are putting the call out for pointless COVID lockdown activities! Let's help our members stuck at home by sharing the things you have done. No new #isoskill acquisitions allowed. Help our house bound team mates! Comment below. #weareessendonhockey
11.01.2022 Vale Lindsay Snowden. The Essendon Hockey Community is saddened by the news today that Lindsay passed peacefully with his family around him last night. As he said yesterday he is off to see his beloved June again. Lindsay has been a stalwart worker and supporter of Essendon Hockey over decades, too numerous to mention. As groundsman back in the days when we had 3 fields and grass to mow every week, he work tirelessly in the background so we could play with lines marked out an...d nets in place. His selfless reward was to watch his sons Neil and Ian excel at the game he loved. In later years his passion was to watch and support his grandsons Hugh and Jed play. Not an easy task for him last year but the chance to see his legacy play in red and black kept him passionate about the Bombers and his family. A loyal and dedicated Life Member his legacy lives on at Essendon Hockey for us all to enjoy and remember fondly. RIP Lindsay Snowden. See more

05.01.2022 Why the standing around at training? Tonight some of our medical professional Essendon members conducted briefings with squads as part of our effort to prioritise community health and safety as we resume hockey activity. Thanks to Sophie, Kate and the group they have assembled who will continue to work with our teams. What a stressful time it has been for all our doctors and nurses, yet here they are giving time to their club. Thank you! It was exciting to see training unde...rway last week. Well done to all who have worked hard to make it happen. Being COVID-19 safe is everyone’s responsibility, but thanks to those who have worked hard on behalf of our members. Further thanks to everyone who has filled out THE SENIOR SECTION SURVEY to help us get even more teams back on the pitch asap. Anyone saying what survey? .you need to get on teamapp. Go to https://www.teamapp.com and sign up. Search for Essendon Hockey and request access.
