17.01.2022 It’s been a rough day here at Emerge headquarters... I’m exhausted and not sleeping well during the campaign, sharing lots of vulnerabilities so people understa...nd why this project is so important and I’m ok to do so but there is still an element of overwhelm involved. Our campaign has hit a bit of a low... and I’m doing a quite normal panic about wether we will hit our target or not.. Then one of our beautiful Emerge girls sent me a message that just completely changed my day and reaffirmed why the program and this project is so important. Her words I never actually thought I would make it to this point I know I never wanted to live but I see a purpose cause there’s so many people around me like you who care and listen :) and actually want to help the world out I almost cried in happiness. This young lady scowled at my from the corner when she first arrived at Emerge Girls a few months ago.. I wasn’t overly sure if she’d ever return a second time let alone complete the program. She’s been through a lot, her scars visible on her body and after getting to know her I knew it would take awhile to break through the wall she’s built to keep the world out.. I’ve had to keep it real with her, remind her that sometimes we just need to do whatever it takes to survive. That it’s ok to be whoever you need to be in any moment to just keep being. We’ve formed a pretty special bond and it’s been awesome to see her overcome challenges. She’s still got many More to come but I’m just so proud of where she is at right now. It’s affirmed for me how important Emerge is and just why I’m the right person to do it.
