24.01.2022 Essential yet seemingly disposable at the same time!! Australia our Early Childhood Teachers and Educators deserve better!

24.01.2022 A brief, but interesting video about Early Years Learning Framework (EYLF) in Australia. Every early childhood professional must watch!!! For new graduates: *A ...resource for your job interview For international early childhood teachers: *Compare the framework with your home country & understand it before you want to work in AUS For experienced educator & teacher: *A useful remind for your curriculum planning Resource: https://www.youtube.com/watch

24.01.2022 "They announced free child care but the Government didn't fund it!" Thank you Amanda Rishworth MP for being the voice of so many Early Childhood Educators around the country!! Thank you for hearing our concerns and telling the truth about the Early Childhood Education and Care Relief Package.

23.01.2022 This year our early childhood educators deserve a special thank you for their professionalism during the COVID-19 climate. We hope you’ll join us in showing them your appreciation. #LoveMyECE

23.01.2022 This is a worry! Children and Educators are not immune to this. Please, please keep your sick children at home.

23.01.2022 These made me giggle!! Out of the mouths of babes!

18.01.2022 We really have so much to learn from our children! Hope this makes you stop for a moment and appreciate the magic in life. Love, Just-in-eC

18.01.2022 Please watch and share - it’s the most disgusting topic but one that is so important. Society needs to stop the silence, have the tough conversations and take every step possible to prevent harm occurring to vulnerable and innocent children.

18.01.2022 Looking for some Monday Motivation to shake the extra COVID kilos?? Just do it!! Go Rocky and Rocky Junior!!!!

17.01.2022 This week is Early Learning Matters Week and we cannot celebrate early learning without celebrating the educators , teachers, cooks and leaders who pour their h...earts and souls into their role often with little or no thanks, regularly under stressful conditions and always in a humble way. Too often the calls for greater recognition go unnoticed and the need for improved equity and justice sidelined. Staff working in the early years are our heroes, not just during covid-19 but each and every day when they rock up and show up to work. So, this week, as we celebrate Early Learning Matters, let's not forget those staff who ensure early learning happens, who sacrifice their families to attend to the needs of other families and who ask for improved status and conditions not out of greed but out of necessity. We want to salute you, and whilst this may not make a change to the pressing issues which plague the sector, we will continue to speak up and speak loud on your behalf and in solidarity with you. Ps how about we add the word 'Every' to Early Learning Matters Week and make it Early Learning Matters Every Week See more

16.01.2022 Last night, I hosted an Early Learning Zoom Meeting with local early educators and residents to discuss their experiences with the Government’s free childcare.... Thank you to Amanda Rishworth MP, the Shadow Minister for Early Childhood Education and Development, for joining the call. It is clear that, despite relief being welcomed, we must do more to support early educators through this crisis. The experiences of many shows that current arrangements are leaving local families without childcare, centres taking on increasing debt and early educators without jobs. We have a unique opportunity to develop a new childcare system that is affordable and accessible to more families. We cannot afford to snapback to the pre-COVID system that was becoming increasingly unaffordable for local families. If you are an early learning centre experiencing ongoing hardship as a result of COVID-19, or a local parent grappling with reduced childcare hours, I’d love to hear from you. Please share your experiences below, or you can email me at [email protected].

15.01.2022 So very true!!! Here is the full speech. I urge everyone to watch this so you understand the reality of this so called Relief Package.

14.01.2022 The Morrison Government continues to leave families, providers and educators in limbo when it comes to the future of early education and care. Despite the Gover...nment flagging that the current arrangements would end on 28 June, and the Minister promising he would give four weeks’ notice of any change, we still haven’t heard a peep from the Government about its plan after the current scheme ends. Now more than ever, Australians need a Government that shows leadership and has a clear plan to deliver affordable, high quality and accessible child care. Instead, families and early learning providers have been left completely in the dark about their own futures. Read more here https://rishworth.com.au//families-left-in-the-dark-on-ea/

10.01.2022 Enough is enough!! It's time to give Aussie dad's a go!! Three very important men in my life are suffering at the hands of our Family Law System!! ... They are being screwed by our system and are being denied seeing their children. We need to give this a voice!! Children deserve to have their loving dads in their lives. They deserve to have relationships with their extended family and not be used as emotional pawns. Dads should be allowed to see their children. To be a part of their child's lives and not be written off by a system which is severely penalising them!! Please share!!!

09.01.2022 SHARED FROM A FRIEND Today at work, a child fell and scraped his knee. He came to me instantly- scared and upset- wrapping his arms around me while crying. We ...snuggled while we talked about what happened, and then i saw his bloody knee that had been pressed against my leg as we hugged. When he lifted his head off my shoulder, my arm was covered in his drool and his tears. This is Childcare, even during a pandemic. When people call us the frontline it’s because we are working on the floor directly with kids 3 years old and under. Kids who can’t control their emotions or their bodily fluid. We wipe their tears and their blood before we consider the risk because they need us. We haven’t been able to social distance since we opened, we just have a mask which is really just protecting them. Earlier before the blood, drool and tears covered my body, I was applying sunscreen to 5 different children. Their hands touch my skin while i apply their sunscreen, they talk to me while I’m helping them and often times they spit while they talk. Then one child actually sneezed on me and another child. We’re not protected from that type of hazard either because we work face to face with kids who can’t control these types of scenarios. Sure it’s gross, sure we worry about where they’ve been or where their families have been when hundreds of their droplets cover my arm, but my coworkers and i still go to work and do what we can to protect ourselves and others. We change diapers and wipe bums all day long, sanitize and wipe down toilets between uses, clean up after their lunch and snacks, rub their backs to help them fall asleep, wipe their faces, clean their scrapes and ouchies, and read to them while they sit across our body. Schools obviously may have many more children to worry about, but the kids in childcare are young and dependent on us for almost everything. They sit on us and directly in front of us, we’re touched all day long and sometimes see 4 different types of bodily fluid in a day. Just today, I had blood, drool, and tears on me before 10am. While everyone is worried about schools opening and being safe, I’d like to recognize my coworkers and fellow Early Childhood Educators who have also been putting themselves at risk every day doing their jobs all throughout this global pandemic. A lot of my coworkers are scared, stressed, and unsure what to do some days, but they show up anyways and face these hazards head on so parents can go to work and their child can have a safe and nurturing place to thrive in : - ss s - s s - s & s

09.01.2022 The COVID-19 pandemic has certainly taken its toll emotionally on many of the once Enthusiastic Educators and EC Teachers I know. We do not wish to take away from the frontline medical staff who are doing an amazing job through these uncertain times. We just want to be acknowledged for the essential role we play during this pandemic. ... We want it to be acknowledged that we continued showing up every day and contuing to work despite being unable to socially distance, source adequate supplies and charge for our service. We want it to be acknowledged that we've been requested to continue to be open or else suffer financial losses and risk never reopening. We want it to be acknowledged that children can in fact contract and spread the virus and we are not suited up in face shields, body suits or even distanced 1.5 metres away from them while we continue to care for and educate them. We want it to be acknowledged that our mental, emotional and physical health are suffering. Not only from the long hours, the stress and uncertainty but also because we haven't had 'lock down' to binge Netflix and complete jigsaws. Instead we've soldiered on everyday through this craziness, compromising our health and that of our families, and kept singing and dancing and smiling for the small people in our care. And all this time we are not given approprite mention, direction or thanks in media addresses. This pandemic has told my profession that we are essential but completely disposable. It has showed us that we are still not viewed as Teachers, despite having 3 and 4 year university qualifications. It has proved to us that despite our pivotal role in keeping the economy going, we are treated as a second class profession. We need to support Early Childhood Education! We need to make some noise about the treatment of our profession! We need to acknowledge the work Educators and EC Teachers do to educate our children and allow us to work!! Early Childhood Teachers and Educators are leaving the profession at an alarming rate. And who can blame them! Speak up, stand with us and have us valued! Post #earlychildhooddeservesbetter on your timeline. Share your story underneath or support your child's teachers and educators. Go on! I dare you! Love, Just-in-eC

08.01.2022 Family Friday: Parenting can be hard and probably some of the hardest times is when our children are overwhlmed by emotions and we feel helpless. Well, check out this free webinar! ... 07.01.2022 Child trafficking is the fastest growing criminal enterprise in the world. A 2016 United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) global report revealed almo...st a third of all human trafficking victims worldwide are children. And whether as a country of origin, transit or destination for victims, almost every country in the world is affected by it. Tomorrow has been designated as the World Day against Trafficking in Persons by member states of the United Nations. In order to help support this global initiative, dTERRA AUNZ will match all proceeds from sales of the dTERRA Hope Oil received by doTERRA Healing Hands Foundation AUNZ from July 30th to August 6th and donate them to Operation Underground Railroad (O.U.R.). 04.01.2022 I love Kerwin's perspective of things! But especially this!! Too often I see children labelled, defined and held back because of a label. I hear 'the autistic child', the 'adhd child' or the 'down syndrome child' used throughout our community.... Um No!!!!!!! Enough is enough! We need to rephrase our words, our language and our thoughts!! We need to see the child first! Because when we see a child with autism, a child with adhd or a child with down syndrome, we are seeing, acknowledging and celebrating the person first and the label second. And when we see the child first we see the endless possibilities, not the labelled limitations. Celebrate the person, celebrate the positives and allow them to create endless possibilities!!! Love, Just-in-eC
