18.01.2022 Maritozzi date back to Ancient Rome. They are traditional Italian sweet buns that are sliced in half then filled with whipped cream. The name maritozzi, means almost husband. It refers to the young grooms-to-be who gave these sweet buns to their fiancees. When I've seen Maritozzi, I'm instantly reminded of cream buns from my childhood. I have wanted to learn to make these for a long time and when I came across an online class for them I had to join. Yesterday I joined a clas...s taught by @kelda68, from Le Marche, Italy and learnt to make these and cantucci (see my previous posts). I thoroughly enjoyed the class and am so impressed with the quality of the finished products. It was such a fun way to spend a Saturday afternoon and I learnt so much from Kelda. 16.01.2022 I absolutely love all things Italy, the food, the culture, the lifestyle, the language, the scenery... I also love cooking Italian food and learning how to cook new things. Yesterday I did a zoom cooking class with @kelda68 from @casalevolpe in Le Marche, Italy. I learnt how to make Cantucci and Maritozzi (more about the maritozzi in another post!) I had the best time. Kelda was amazing, and so was the class. And the finished products - deliziosa!!! The class was so easy to f...ollow thanks to Keldas teaching style and it was great to learn more about Le Marche and life there. I can highly recommend the classes. Part of a healthy lifestyle is finding that work life balance, as well as doing activities you love. For me, baking and learning is a big part of my wellness lifestyle balance. It is autoimmune Those diagnosed with Coeliac Disease suffer damage to the lower intestine if they ingest gluten. 3. Coeliac for life There is no cure or prevention, but following a gluten-free diet is the way of life! 4. Gluten hides everywhere From beer to soy sauce, gluten is in far more items than the bread products lining the shelves of your local bakery. 5. Coeliac leads to other issues If undiagnosed, this autoimmune disease can lead to other issues, such as lactose intolerance, anaemia, and GI cancers. My daughter is a Coeliac. She was diagnosed 23 years ago. Things have certainly changed in that time and the availability and quality of gluten free products has improved vastly. 06.01.2022 Can I be honest with you about something. It has been challenging for me to find the time and motivation to get my exercise in. There are always a million distractions and excuses and my body doesn’t always react well to exercise! Here are a couple of tips I have found helpful recently: Use a support system- find that one person you can call or text to keep you consistent. ... Put it on your calendar- reserve that time in advance! Mix it up- try something new whether it’s an online yoga class, a video or a new app to keep it fresh. Pace yourself, don’t go full on and wear yourself out and risk giving up. Remember to exercise your mind as well as your body, meditation and mindfulness are just as important to your health.
