22.01.2022 SKYRAIL WOULD COME TO ESSENDON ! The State Government has signed contracts for a sky rail in the southeastern suburbs, fuelling fears the controversial design could be used for Essendon’s Buckley St level crossing removal. Without any consultation with local groups, residents associations or Council the State Government secretly negotiates to build a Skyrail along the trainline from Maribyrnong Rd Ascot Vale to Napier St Essendon! The impact of this Skyrail will be devastating to local property values and the noise pollution horrendous - said Richard Lawrence President Essendon - Strathmore Ratepayers Assoc. We must fight this all the way to Council, to State Governemnent and even to the Courts if needed !
21.01.2022 Would it be ok for this to go on your page? We have a number of vacancies.
20.01.2022 HIGHER COUNCIL RATES, MORE WASTE - ITS TIME SOME COUNCILLORS WERE REPLACED ! This is the latest in unappealing artwork that our MVCC Rates are being wasted on. This red rope is costing $30,000 to rent for three months - You READ THAT CORRECTLY $30,000 to RENT for 3 months ! What a waste of our MVCC Rates and we don't even own it having paid someone who doesn't live in our area $30,000 to rent it - its just Council Waste and its wrong! On top of the waste the art work was van...dalized with in a week of being erected and now has a protected barrier around it - more cost. Ess - Strath Ratepayers Association members are sick of paying Higher Rates and Higher Rates only to see this sort of Waste from MVCC its time for change ! RICHARD LAWRENCE PRESIDENT ESSENDON -STRATHMORE RATEPAYERS ASSOCIATION See more
20.01.2022 $200,000 is going to be spent from MVCC Ratepayers money to fix this dump of shack - originally only $30,000 now another MVCC blow out to $200,000 dollars ! When will MVCC waste stop - the Essendon - Strathmore Ratepayers have had enough waste and enough Rate rises ! Heritage is one thing - Rate Waste is another. Richard Lawrence President Essendon Strathmore Ratepayers Association.
17.01.2022 MORE HIGH RISE DEVEOPMENT FOR ESSENDON ! Essendon is fast losing its heritage and its ambiance as we slowly get built in by more and more high rise apartment blocks that are popping up everywhere adding more and more to MVCC rate coffers but do nothing for our local amenity and if you thought your Moonee Valley Council Rates would stop rising because there is more rates going to Council - think again ! Your Residential rates have risen a whopping 24% in the last three year...s ! This new apartment HIGH RISE development opposite the Essendon Station will be the largest ever built in Essendon. More people, more cars, more congestion, more problems and you guessed it more rates for Council. ! It doesn't matter how good a spin these developers put on these HIGH RISE developments its not going to improve the local amenity for the local people who live and pay Rates to MVCC. See more
17.01.2022 YET ANOTHER HIGH DENSITY DEVELOPMENT FOR ESSENDON ! The wind tunnel that is becoming the lower part of Keilor Rd Essendon is about to have further "closing in" as Keilor Rd gets yet another "High Density Apartment Development" to add to the congestion that is already present. With the lack of off street parking that these high density development don't provide we will see road congestion that is going to get worse and worse ! And who is going to gain out of all this ? Not the local Essendon Ratepayer but I am sure the MVCC coffers will get a boost !
16.01.2022 Buckley St Level Crossing needs better Traffic Light sequence ! Ever since the traffic light sequence was altered by so called traffic engineering experts the ...traffic problems at the Buckley St Level Crossing have got worse. Priority is given to traffic in the small side streets and traffic just banks up in Buckley St. When the lights do eventually turn green in Buckley St it's when a train is crossing anyway. The new MVCC must put pressure on Vicroads to fix this mess and give us back some flow through traffic in Essendon See more
15.01.2022 The Decision by MVCC Councilors to spend $200,000 of Ratepayers money to shift a run down old historical house wedged in between the high rise developments located in Mt Alexander Nth Essendon is both a brave move and for us Ratepayers an expensive move. The Jury is out as to whether the cost to shift the old building is inspiring or fool hardy ? The question the Essendon - Strathmore Ratepayers are asking is could $200,000 of ratepayers money be spent doing better things for... the Moonee Valley community and do we the MVCC Ratepayers want to keep a run down shack as a historical memory for generations to come. Sure we have lost alot of our heritage thanks to development through out MVCC but is this best answer to fixing that problem. When MVCC recently paid over $700,000 for two tennis courts in Strathmore to be built it would appear to many Essendon - Strathmore Ratepayers that the use and abuse of Ratepayers money is the issue that really needs addressing not just a knee jerk reaction to what is considered to be the "right thing to do". 14.01.2022 CITYLINK THE SCHOOL BULLY IN STRATHMORE ! Strathmore Secondary College students, parents and teachers are "Up in Arms" because the school is going to have a very large and noisy off ramp bridge being built by Citylink ONLY 5 METRES away from existing classrooms ! The Strathmore College was not consulted by Citylink prior to the plans being implemented and the impact is going to be catastrophic for students. ... Strathmore Secondary College is rated as one of the best Government Secondary Schools on this side of Melbourne and had excellent results in VCE for 2015. But its going suffer from excessive noise levels and an over imposing bridge ramp right in its back yard ! This bridge ramp must be redesigned and engineered away from the school for safety, noise reduction and better student learning environment. 08.01.2022 CRIME RATES SORE IN MOONEE VALLEY While Police Stations in Victoria have been either closed down or had their opening hours reduced by lack of resources, crime rates have increased by over 12.4%. With over 519,000 offences in the last 12 months crime is increasing at an alarming rate. Community safety has become a major issue especially in inner suburbs like Moonee Valley where we have seen increases in Car - Jackings,Home Invasions,Drive By Shootings and Gang Violence! The... local Moonee Valley Community seems to be the victim living with daily and nightly fear and not being able to safely go about their lives in a safe manner. Despite all the evidence that crime is out of control, Governments both at the State level and Local Moonee Valley Council are doing nothing and leveling cuts mean that even more police stations are likely to close. With more high density apartments and more people and with less policing then crime increases. This is not the answer and ratepayers in Moonee Valley expect greater safety and better policing from our Governments. Moonee Valley Council needs to do something NOW and protect the people living in fear and trepidation in the Essendon, and Strathmore and surrounding suburbs of Moonee Valley. See more
03.01.2022 MVCC WASTES $30,000 ON A RUST BUCKET ! If you thought MVCC Red Rope was BAD well think again ! This is just plane awful and does nothing for the amenity of the area around the Clock Tower Center in Moonee Ponds. Its just a Rusty waste of your Rates ! Its just a $30,000 waste of Rate Payer money that MVCC and its Councillors are throwing away ! Thats right we only Rent this piece of Rusty Junk and will never own it (thank goodness) and its such a waste of OUR RATES !!!! Wh...en will this blatant misuse of Community money stop and we get some common sense on local MVCC council ! We need Council elections to sort this mess out. Richard Lawrence President Essendon-Strathmore Ratepayers Association. See more
