17.01.2022 While we watch the rain pour down in Melbourne and being stuck inside, a little throwback to one of our recent ecargobike trials. Bettina and her family tested the Riese & Müller Load 75 vario. "The Load 75 is the perfect halfway between a car and a regular bike. I could finally bring my 2-yr old and his balance bike to the track. Fitting two weeks of groceries for a family of 3 was surprisingly easy too! I couldn't believe the bike rides even smoother when fully loaded, and ...with the assistance on high even steep overpasses are a breeze. I felt safe amongst traffic but could also get places more directly and peacefully on bike paths. Our toddler loved getting in and out alone and didn't tire of multiple daily rides. 16.01.2022 As another marvellous Spring day wraps up, a little throwback to when we were still wearing jackets and beanies! Carl and his family had a great time on the Riese&Müller Load 60 rohloff. "I initially looked into child carrying options for our new born (now 9 months), as we previously both biked each day to work in the CBD and I hated the idea of starting to drive a car/traffic and parking to take my son to daycare. I really like the idea of being able to involve my son in the... activities that we both enjoy and hopefully in the near future going out for cycle day trips and overnight camping. While doing my research, I found the Load 60 which meets all our needs and including safety, I think it is important to be able to see him while we are riding and be able to talk, rather than being in the back or even worse in a trailer which is quite wide. I was concerned how the bike would handle with the extended front, but after a few rides it was really not an issue and feels amazing leaning into fast corners, the bike handling also improves with more weight in the cargo area. The bike can easily be ridden around 25kmh without the motor and there is no noticeable drag from the motor being off, but when you turn the motor on it is amazingly powerful when you hit hills. With the full suspension it kept my wife and son very comfortable over all sorts of bumps on and off road, the suspension also kept the bike's handling very stable even on gravel tracks. This is an amazing family bike and definitely a car replacement as advertised." "Our family recently trialled 2 electronic bikes for our family and were completely blow away by them. Living in the inner northern suburbs, and getting a little tired during COVID lockdown we managed to coincide our trial with some time of work so our family could head out and do some adventure and ...exploring. From long leisurely bike roads, trips to the the local market to get groceries, time trials around local running track, running errands and even family picnics we did everything in these bikes. We have three children and we were able to ease take them all with us in the big cargo carrier or spread them across the two bikes. Our car stayed in its parking space all week as we did our errands and explored our suburb (and beyond). My kids rode in style up the front, sipping babycinos, feeling the breeze on their faces, and chatting all the way. One evening we rode 10km home in gale force winds. With the bike at its highest power, I was able to cruise along comfortably ag...ainst the wind, and the kids were so secure they fell asleep! Before I tried the Packster 60, I thought riding with a big box on the front would be cumbersome and unstable. I was completely wrong! After a quick practice ride, it was easy to cruise around with 2 kids in the front and my bag on the rack behind. I loved that I could get as much or as little exercise as I wanted. Often I'd ride one direction of a journey using very little battery assist and then take it easier on the way home. It was easy to adjust the seat height and handlebars so that my tall husband could ride it as well.
