21.01.2022 Dear Etchells sailor, Due to the recent COVID outbreak and the subsequent responses from the NSW and other state governments, we have made the difficult decisio...n to postpone the 2020-21 Etchells National Championship. Since the rescheduling of the Nationals from Perth in November to Sydney, our principal aim has been to safeguard the integrity of the event by ensuring the regatta would be held with the opportunity for sailors from all of our National fleets to compete. Sadly with travel restrictions, this is not possible or reasonable. While we have been tempted by the positive signs in recent days to ‘hang on’ and delay our decision, the feedback from many of you has been that you would prefer certainty. Equally, for our volunteers, the team at RSYS and the organising committee; some level of clarity is reasonably required. In terms of ‘where to from here’, we will work with all parties to set a new date for our Nationals in the new year. In the meantime, we will issue refunds for entry fees. We also flagged in the NOR and entry documents, that in the event that we needed to cancel or postpone the Nationals, we would host an alternate local regatta. I am pleased to confirm that we will hold a 3 day, 9 race series 15-17 January, 2021. Entry fee and NOR will be issued in the week commencing 4 January. Please also note we intend to issue the NOR for the Milsons Silver Goblets in the week commencing 4 January. Just a reminder that the regatta dates are 1-5 February. The Sydney Fleet would like to wish you a safe and happy Christmas and thank you for your enthusiastic support. I am as disappointed, as you no doubt are, but I look forward to seeing you all on the race track in early 2021. Kind regards Mike Tyquin Sydney Etchells Fleet Captain

20.01.2022 Just wondering how outdoor dining with tables of 10 without facemasks can be safer than sailing an etchells with masks??? I'm not a smart man but this seems beyond rediculous.

18.01.2022 It's been confirmed, sadly the 2020 Worlds in Perth have been cancelled. Planning is underway for an updated season regatta schedule. https://etchells.org.au/news/news-latest.asp?newsID=147
