22.01.2022 Many of you may run United E85 as your fuel of choice. I have seen a lot of conjecture around composition and colour of this, so I contacted United. Below is th...eir response. Hello Paul, thanks for your enquiry. The E85 is a blend of 15% 98 Octane and 85% Ethanol. This blend does not change throughout the year. When E85 was first introduced the 15% petrol component was 91 Octane and we changed this to 98 Octane when we supplied the V8 Super Cars and we also added green dye at the same time. Back in 2016 dye in fuels was phased out so we ran the stocks of dye down and we now do not dye any fuels. All fuel grades can vary in colour from water white to bronze colour and everything in between as part of the refining process. Diesel for instance can be water white to iridescent green. Thank you again for the feedback and we are pleased that you are enjoying the product. So there it is. No matter the colour, if you are buying E85 from United Petroleum you can be sure it’s 85% ethanol and 15% 98 octane unleaded all year round.
