23.01.2022 BushWok Cooking travelled to Ross River on the 14th June 2013 to facilitate an outdoor cooking competition for the 200+ delegates attending the Macdonnell Shire... 2013 Youth Jamboree. There was fierce competition between community representatives to cook the best tasting Rainbow Curry. First place was claimed with a winning score of 16.75 out of a possible score of 20. When served with freshly cooked Basmati rice, the results of the cooking process ably satisfied the ravenous appetites of the delegates, no doubt stimulated by the fact that they had prepared the feast for themselves and their peers. Congratulations to all participants, you all cooked great food. The event was followed up with music from bands from many of the communities, most notably the Utju Girls Band (you have to hear to believe) and the Santa Teresa Band. I'm looking forward to being part of the 2014 Jamboree. See more

18.01.2022 Community stores within this study had a significant influence on participants self assessed health status and individual triglyceride levels. More vegetables were purchased in stores with higher scores and participants felt they had enough money to purchase health food from these stores, even though stores with higher scores were more expensive overall.
