25.01.2022 Leaves are fantastic for composting & mulch... but have a little fun with them first
25.01.2022 I believe public Food Forests in Bundaberg & surrounds would be fantastic for free fresh food, interest, mental health & re-skilling. What do you think? #lovebundy #freefood #permaculture ...
24.01.2022 Another fantastic initiative to reduce plastics use in supermarkets... the good ol banana leaf as produce wrapping. And they look beautiful too! Would you buy your fresh produce wrapped in banana leaves or another type of plant leaf?
23.01.2022 Getting really excited about our "pioneer" group that start the inaugural Beginner's 4-Workshop Series this coming Sunday. These participants have a vision & are in alignment with growing healthy, nutrient dense, clean foods in their own gardens. They are the leaders of our project to design, build & plant out the HSG Kitchen Garden's first garden bed.... Our first workshop will be focussing on the permaculture design process; which is the foundation for creating a space that integrates human activity with the natural world and complements each other.
23.01.2022 Come along to our info session if youre interested in learning about our upcoming workshops on organic permaculture gardening. Please share this with anyone you think may be interested?
22.01.2022 Excited about our second Organic Permaculture Gardens Workshop Information Session this morning... Hope to see you there
21.01.2022 The science is in, shifting towards more plant-based foods & decreasing or eliminating animal-based products will dramatically help heal our planet. We eat multiple times a day & the foods on our plate have the biggest impact to our ecological footprint Its paddock (factory farm shed) to plate plot to plate... ... Even better for our planet is growing your own organic fruits & veg, so you get to eat the freshest, nutrient dense food in the most natural way thats best for your body. Designing your edible gardens using permaculture increases food diversity & abundance even more so.
21.01.2022 INNOVATION MONDAY: Innovative, cruelty free products & businesses are in greater demand because more & more people are becoming conscious consumers. From cactus leather to synthetic frog dissection, etc., in schools to a chicken farmer becoming a hemp farmer instead to Puffer jackets filled with recycled ocean plastics to vegan food.
19.01.2022 Yay! A toilet paper that gives a crap . Bought my first box at Tomorrow’s Earth, Bundaberg * 100% recycled * soft & strong 3-ply * no inks, dyes or scents ... * re-use box to make spaceship , or to store stuff, or as a weed barrier in lasagne gardening (no dig & materials layering)
18.01.2022 This is fantastic. It's great to see permaculture design & practises being used by the BRC & Botanic Gardens.
17.01.2022 Urban farming... fresher, no transport costs, clean with no chemicals.
17.01.2022 The world of agriculture has been seduced by the chemical & GMO Giants through false promises & reassurances. The damage caused to natural eco-systems, neighbouring farms, human health, soil health, waterway health, insects, marine life & land animals is unnecessary & unforgivable. Adopting more natural farming & gardening practises like permaculture design, principles & practises; using a diversity of mixed crops (including trees); encouraging natural pollinators & predato...rs (insects, birds, reptiles, frogs, etc); going back to more human labour (providing employment & purpose); and using slower solutions (rather than quick fixes that create other problems) means regenerating the landscape & natural world, improving the quality of farm produce, creating healthier workplaces for farmers & farmhands, & creating healthier, cleaner foods for consumers.
17.01.2022 Caring about people and community is so valuable to every individual involved. This Blessing Box of free pantry items available to people in need is 100% heartfelt. Think globally, act locally.
15.01.2022 Hemp is a wondrous plant with so many uses; any "paper" products, clothing, medicinal, rope, textiles, shoes, food, bioplastics, insulation, and biofuel. Timber from trees are vitally important for many things but we don't need to use trees for a lot of products that we can use hemp for. The more we replace trees for hemp, the better off our environment will be. "Commercially grown hemp can be used in so many ways. Its environmentally friendly and sustainable, requiring no fertilizers or pesticides to grow. The hemp plant can be harvested in as little as 70 days, requires little water throughout the process, and has the power to rebalance nutrients in the soil. Its fibers (often a waste material) are perfect for situations where lots of material is needed such as for toilet paper." - intelligentliving.co

13.01.2022 Exciting Announcement Coming Soon! Exciting Announcement Coming Soon!
13.01.2022 Did you know we offer a "Walk & Talk Consult" of your property? Find out more...
12.01.2022 P s: C & s & ss. Well, here we are, experiencing a global medical pandemic that is creating fear & therefore panic buying in supermarkets locally throughout Bundaberg & surrounds, & the rest of the country. We've been here before though, during times of flood! ... How long could you survive (or thrive) without grid connected electricity, mains water or sewerage? What about fresh fruit & veg, or clean drinking water? At our most basic level of need, humans require shelter, water, food & a hygienic waste disposal system. What if you could create food security, water security & suitable waste disposal all on your own plot of land right beside your shelter, ensuring minimum stress, anxiety & fear, especially during any type of crises like what is coming re COVID-19 & future floods. How can we better prepare so that we are not so dependent on external suppliers, providers or resources? At 1pm on Sunday 15th I'll be doing a little demonstration & having a chat to people about at the Bundaberg Health & Wellness Expo (at Shalom Markets) about how to use permaculture design principles & practises to plan for disasters that would otherwise leave us vulnerable. If you're interested in becoming more self-sufficient & responsible for your own & your family's needs then come along. I'll see you at 1pm.

05.01.2022 A female Australasian Figbird visiting the native fig tree outside my kitchen window. Its really important for native wildlife diversity & balance for people to plant (or keep already established) native trees within our gardens, parks, public spaces, & rural areas. 05.01.2022 Our first Beginners Workshop Series participants are building the first HSG Edible Gardens garden bed tomorrow morning. We've got our cardboard (stripped of sticky tape), top grade garden soil & beautiful mulch on site and ready to go. So looking forward to seeing what we create.
04.01.2022 Ethical innovative... love it
04.01.2022 W' HSG E Gs!!! The wonderful participants of the very first B's Ws Ss: C A O P E G worked enthusiastically building the massive 4m diameter garden bed. We did layer upon layer of a diverse range of materials to ensure more nutrients are available to feed the "zoo" living in & above the soil. Creating garden beds this way helps plants get exactly what they need, which means we get the best nutrient-dense foods that we need.
03.01.2022 We rescued a baby Tawny Frogmouth Owl yesterday afternoon. The little bubba probably had a mishap when he/she fledged (flew from the nest for the first time). Luckily Jaeger stopped the dogs from getting him/her & we could help. ... I checked later that night & the baby owl had flown up higher to another tree. I heard one of the parents fly off as I got near the area, so I knew he/she was still around. Once I finally found the baby in the other tree & not back on the ground, I knew he/she was okay & I could leave them in peace. Yay!
03.01.2022 Our breathing apparatus is only half in our bodies, the other half is the trees on this beautiful planet Plant more trees; save the forests.
