15.01.2022 Last day of The Melbourne Fair at Caulfield Racecourse today.

14.01.2022 The wild side of Wedgwood’s history is little known but larger than life. Below, a stack of subversive styles produced between the 19th and 20th centuries. Ever...yone is familiar with the signature blue and white jasperware, one of the fixtures of elegant British dining tables and dark paneled libraries. But that wasn't always the case. Nancy Haas researches and presents Wedgwood's walk on the wild side in her article from the New York Times. Link to full article here. https://www.nytimes.com//t/design/wedgwood-jasperware.html

12.01.2022 We will be exhibiting...

12.01.2022 Some of the fun in watching the 1958 film of Auntie Mame is seeing the different style of decoration her apartment goes through. During the neoclassical period, we spotted a basalt Apotheosis of Homer vase on a sideboard. A rare item and rather unexpected.

11.01.2022 This is the last week of our moving sale; the shop closes on Sunday the 30th. This week, in addition to 20% on all pieces, all black basalt is marked down 30%. Remember that sales to other countries see a further reduction of 10% as we don't have to charge sales tax.

11.01.2022 Now that the shop is closed, we've taken a space at The Armadale Antiques Centre at 1147 High Street Armadale, where we will offer selections from our stock. Open seven days a week.

11.01.2022 Black basalt bowl, made for and presented to HRH The Princess Margaret when she visited the Staffordshire potteries in 1956. A full 12" in diameter, with perfect, sharp engine turning. Gilt inscriptions to the interior and base record the provenance of this unique bowl, which came from the estate of The Princess. 09.01.2022 House of Cards (UK) S01E03. Penny Guy's (Alphonsia Emmanuel) office boasts a rare fire surround set with green jasper Wedgwood Plaques.

09.01.2022 The wild side of Wedgwoods history is little known but larger than life. Below, a stack of subversive styles produced between the 19th and 20th centuries. 08.01.2022 Majolica paperweight. Wedgwood 1868. The shape is familiar from the earlier canopic jars, but I haven't seen it in this form before. On offer at the Sydney Antiques Fair, Randwick Race Course, 7-11 September.

07.01.2022 Creamer in the 'pineapple in a basket' pattern. Greatbatch, C1760. Creamware, from the early days, before they learnt to control the colours. The effect is most attractive. Full details on the website: http://etruria.com.au//index./home-page-products/4659.html

02.01.2022 An impressive Apotheosis of Virgil Vase, with the griffin base. Condition is rather less than perfect, but this is reflected in the price, and it displays well. Wedgwood C1880. http://etruria.com.au/magento/index.php/4739.html
