19.01.2022 On this day 38 years ago Victoria and South Australia experienced what was to be known as the Ash Wednesday bushfires. Our drought stricken landscape combined w...ith ferocious winds, fanned the fires that swept across the state and devastated many communities. Tragically, 75 lives were lost including 14 CFA and three SA Country Fire Service volunteer firefighters. We take a moment of reflection today, as our thoughts are with those who lost so much on February 16, 1983. ------------ Lifeline: 13 11 14 CFA Wellbeing Support Line: 1800 959 232 Image 1: Wendy Bootle Image 2: Wally Grant

03.01.2022 From midnight tonight, South Australians will pause and create a 6 day circuit breaker that will enable us to get ahead of the Parafield Cluster. This means al...l non-essential workers must stay home and only leave for groceries and medical supplies. Our decision to go hard and go early is based on the advice of our world class health team. I know the restrictions we have put in place will be challenging for many South Australians, but the alternative is the virus escapes into the wider community forcing an even longer lockdown. I urge people to be kind and respectful to one another during this time. Click through the images to see what's open and what's closed. Thank you for working together with us - we WILL get through this.

02.01.2022 The Uleybury Fire is now contained, with crews expected to remain on the fireground well into tonight mopping up and ensuring the area is completely extinguishe...d. The fire is also still creating a fair bit of smoke, so please make sure you’re keeping your doors and windows closed if you’re in an area affected. The fire came far too close for comfort for Adelaide’s Northern Suburbs and serves as a reminder to everyone in the outer suburbs to ensure you have a Bushfire Survival Plan and an emergency kit ready to go, in case fire threatens your home, you need to leave and then can’t return for some time. The fire was started by a slasher- with today’s cooler weather we know that it would have appeared to be a good day to use the machinery and this fire goes to show how quickly fires can get out of control in any conditions. Today’s fire was attended by over 160 CFS volunteers as well as MFS strike teams and Farm Fire Units. Do a 5 Minute Bushfire Plan here: https://www.cfs.sa.gov.au/bebushfireready/index.html What should go in your Emergency Kit? https://safecom-files-v8.s3.amazonaws.com//cfs_fact_sheet_
