20.01.2022 @sheldricks_fine_food online ordering is now officially open! Ok guys here’s the deal... firstly a massive happy new year to everyone that supported us through 2020. It was challenging but ultimately rewarding and we couldn’t have done it without our fantastic customers. In the middle of all the chaos we managed to get hold of a huge butchers shop in Forbes aprox 30km west of our farm... We needed the space to do all our cutting and packing for our retail orders. ... Over the course of the last few months Leanne and I have been discussing using this space and equipment to showcase the very best that our region has to offer, to tell the stories and share the produce of the incredible farmers and producers that literally surround us. What would be better than a butcher shop run by farmers in a genuine farming district. And so here we are, we still farm our own poultry and game birds in eugowra, we still deliver weekly to Sydney, southern highlands and blue mountians , and you can now have the very best meat from our central west district with complete 100% provenance. We only buy whole animals so cuts and offerings will vary weekly we will be building our range all the time - we look forward to seeing you all out on the road next week or in the shop! 16.01.2022 @unfilteredandunfined - one of our proudest moments here on the farm was having our spatchcock (young chicken) featured on the menu at Heston Blumenthal @dinnerbyhb - we knew the standard he expected, and the dish testing and refining went for months! As the days get longer and warmer our flock gets ready to pair up and make babies for next years production, they lose weight and fat content so we process now and leave a selection to carry on the breeding program for next year. I figured out a while back that about 5 rogues is really good for cleaning up any grain we spill and taking care of any kitchen scraps and weeds around the brooding shed - so much for the notion of the ‘lethargic broiler’ these birds are always active and on the hunt just have a look at the size of the guy that’s jumped into the 20L feed bucket #notbhed #goodsoize
