24.01.2022 Residents in bushfire-affected areas are being told, NOW is the time to prepare your home for the season ahead. Here is the essential advice that could protect your property and save lives. #9Today
22.01.2022 SMOKE At this time we do NOT have any fire's in the Canobolas Zone. Please always check Fire's Near Me as we are not always online to answer your queries. Fire...'s Near Me will show a fire immediately the Triple 000 call has been received. It will generally show the approximate location and show as out of control until brigade's are on scene to advise status. It may however take some time to update further information such as area, and containment. Smoke is being blown into our area from the fire's to the south of the state.
22.01.2022 This is your opportunity to work for the NSW RFS, helping local communities, brigades and the environment by becoming part of our Mitigation Crews. Mitigation... crews perform a range of tasks, from helping brigades prepare areas for hazard reduction and assisting with firefighting, to working with aircraft and basecamps. It’s a rewarding role with great opportunities for further development and future roles. There’s 100 full time temporary roles on offer including crew members and crew leaders in areas right across NSW. Some of our crews are made up of dedicated Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people and we’re looking for new members to join these teams. If you’re interested in a challenging but rewarding role with the NSW RFS, apply now. If you have any questions, contact the team at [email protected] Applications close Sunday 28 June 2020. https://iworkfor.nsw.gov.au//mitigation-crew-member-mitiga

08.01.2022 FACT: There will never be as many fire trucks as there are houses. Do not depend on a fire truck being available at your home. But if you and your home are well... prepared, you stand a better chance of surviving a bush fire. There are simple things you can do around your home to prepare it for a bush fire, like keeping the grass low and having a cleared area around your home. 07.01.2022 WATCH: This is how quickly a bushfire can overrun you. Within three minutes, fire crews in NSW go from setting up for property protection to fleeing for their lives due to a change of wind. Always have your bushfire survival plan ready. #9News

01.01.2022 A MAJORITY of the fires in NSW have now been extinguished due to the weekend rainfall which has flooded most fire zones. 95-99% of the white diamonds ARENT fire...s - they're mostly flood reports or trees downed. ONLY the blue diamonds are fires, and these are mostly controlled or soon to be extinguished thanks to the rain. Mother Nature really gave firefighters a massive leg up and some assistance! Activity over Far Southern Coastal areas of NSW will likely be extinguished over today and Tuesday as the recent weekend rain moves South over these areas. Image: NSW Rural Fire Service
