17.01.2022 Eureka Clubhouse 20th Anniversary February 27 2015 marks the 20th anniversary of operation for the internationally recognised Eureka Clubhouse. Eureka is a Colony 47 adult community based mental health program based in Moonah and it has become a place to call home for the three thousand clients (members) who access the service daily each year. One of Eurekas key attractions is its members are involved in the running and making decisions about it. It has operated on a Wor...k Ordered Day concept with members and staff working side by side to ensure the safe and productive operation of the program. Members participation is voluntary and without time limits. High- profile filmmaker, broadcaster, human rights advocate and past Schizophrenia Foundation deputy chairperson Anne Deveson who opened the clubhouse twenty years ago stated that it was a dream come true to open such a facility, and to realise a future dream manager Lisa Blackwood is hoping that in the near future other clubhouses will be set up in in other parts of the state. What has happened at Eureka Clubhouse over the last 20 years is truly a miracle in giving people who experience mental ill health what they need most, friendship and a place to belong and contribute. Eureka is planning a more formal celebration in October to coincide with the Mental Health Week Breakfast. See more

13.01.2022 Improve your Balance and Strength by starting exercises indoor Lets get into them slowly and safely!! Exercise 1: Single Limb Stance -stand behind a steady, solid chair (not one with wheels), and hold on to the back of it. Lift up your right foot and balance on your left foot. Hold that position for as long as you can, then switch feet.... Exercise 2: Clock Reach -Imagine that you are standing in the centre of a clock. The number 12 is directly in front of you and the number 6 is directly behind you. Hold the chair with your left hand. Lift your right leg and extend your right arm so its pointing to the number 12. Next, point your arm towards the number three, and finally, point it behind you at the number 6. Bring your arm back to the number three, and then to the number 12. Look straight ahead the whole time. Repeat this exercise twice per side. Exercise 3: Back Leg Raises -Stand behind a chair. Slowly lift your right leg straight back dont bend your knees or point your toes. Hold that position for one second, then gently bring your leg back down. Repeat this ten to 15 times per leg. Exercise 4: Side Leg Raises -Stand behind the chair with your feet slightly apart. Slowly lift your right leg to the side. Keep your back straight, your toe facing forward, and stare straight ahead. Lower your right leg slowly. Repeat this exercise ten to 15 times per leg.

01.01.2022 Eureka Clubhouse has moved into a Virtual Clubhouse model since six weeks ago to support members in response to the outbreak of COVID-19. Two lovely chefs, Rachel (right) and Natalie, were invited to come and cook for members and meals were delivered to members doors. We also remain in contact with members by regular phone calls, text messages, mails and emails. And now as we are back on Facebook, we are expecting more virtual interactions with members. More info to come soon...
