25.01.2022 In these uncertain times, sometimes it's necessary to find the silver linings... With both of our physical shops temporarily closed (sob!) to help to flatten the curve, there is a silver lining - we have transferred much of our stock to be central at our warehouse for online orders, which means that many product lines (such as particular gemstones, premium tools, miyuki, Swarovski & glass crystal beads, kits and more) that WERE out of stock are once again available on the website for purchase - YAY! 25.01.2022 I'm celebrating my 50th blood donation today With each donation saving up to 3 lives, that puts me at up to 150 lives saved so far. Very early in his life my nephew Elijah relied on people who donate, after contracting Immune Thrombocytopenia as a worryingly young 3 month old and requiring several blood transfusions. Only one in 30 Australians gives blood each year and yet one in 3 will need it at some point in their lifetime, so if you're eligible please give it some serious thought.

17.01.2022 The next kit and free project video in our new series! This adorable bracelet uses a range of pink glass beads and charms, resulting in a stretchy elastic bracelet that is easy to wear. The project is great for children, working on fine motor skills to thread on each bead (can be challenging with the wobbly elastic), as well as creating patterns and counting sets of beads. Our kits are inexpensive (this one is only $3) and teach skills that can be applied to a wide range of beads and supplies also available from our website. These fabulous bead packs are available in a range of colours (pink, red, blue, purple or multicolour) and contain a mix of different feature and filler beads, plus some metal beads, bells and strong beading elastic. Each pack has enough beads to make about 5 small bracelets or 3 larger ones. The only tools you will need are scissors and nail polish or glue and they come in a cute colourful organza bag, so great as a gift. They're perfect for kids or beginners and are on sale for $5 :)

15.01.2022 We've added a new video tutorial to the website - this fun memory wire bracelet! Memory wire is a hardened steel wire that retains ("remembers") it's spring shape, making it super easy to wear because it doesn't require clasps - rather it can be wound onto the wrist. Threading beads onto memory wire can also be a little easier than elastic - with the stiff wire not getting wiggly and going the wrong way. This video demonstrates the loop required at the beginning and end of th...e bracelet, as well as basic bead threading and counting (check to see if I make a mistake!) and opening and closing jump rings. Kits available from our website, as well as all of the raw materials. Enjoy! Is there a particular skill you want me to demonstrate in a video? I've already had requests for kumihimo and pearl threading, so will work on getting some videos up on them soon

We've put together a range of new kits that are perfect for working with children - this suncatcher kit uses colourful crystal beads that require restringing onto tigertail (fine motor skills!) in sets of 5 (counting!), with a video to accompany each kit. 12.01.2022 Many of you would know our wonderful Cheltenham store manager Kim - she is always super quick to share her beady knowledge or to help with colour choices and design ideas. Kim has recently gone through a massive 15 hour operation to remove a brain tumour. We all want to wish her well on her road to recovery. She would like everyone to know that she is doing well and hopes to be home in the near future

06.01.2022 Well, what a tumultuous 24 hours we've had here - with rising COVID-19 cases, Melbourne will be in lockdown from midnight tonight. Both our shops are within the Melbourne Metropolitan area and so are within this lockdown area but we wish to assure everyone that neither shop has any significant number of active cases in the nearby locality. Our Cheltenham store will remain open 11am to 2pm weekdays, although this may change - please ring us on 9584 1678 to confirm we are open ...if you're coming by. We continue to have Click & Collect and highly recommend it - limit your time in the shop by having your order packed and ready for pickup! Our Toomuc store remains closed, although contactless Click & Collect is available - see our website for full details. Our website continues to be 100% operational and we are posting orders daily - get your order placed & paid for by 12pm to have it sent same day! 04.01.2022 What are you doing to keep sane in these days of isolation? Some of bead, some of us do puzzles, but some of us... Yesterday while I was busy packing internet orders, Marc spent his day running loops around our backyard to complete the first 50km Isolation Ultramarathon held at Eureka! Beads. He ended up running a massive 552 laps in just under 7 hours, an amazing accomplishment, cheered on by Gryffindor (you can just see him in the background - he managed to complete almost half a lap over the day)!

02.01.2022 With our Cheltenham store open again (11am to 2pm weekdays), we've made some changes that you may notice around the shop: + hand sanitiser at both entrances - please use as you enter and exit the shop + screens in place around the staff area... + indicator markers on the ground to assist with social distancing + signs on the doors indicating a maximum of 10 customers in the shop - if there are already 10 customers in the shop please wait outside + whilst in the shop, please continue to observe social distancing and if you're feeling unwell in any way, please don't visit at this time (we also have an extremely extensive online shop and we're packing and sending orders daily)

02.01.2022 Concocted in the brief break between lockdowns, the Victorian Ultra Runners #RonaRelay kicked off on Saturday, and found it's way to Pakenham yesterday morning where Gryffindor and I received the virtual "baton" from the Officer runner and ran it up to the next set of runners waiting for us in Upper Beac. It then continued onto Kallista via Gembrook, Cockatoo, Emerald, Monbulk and The Patch where it paused until daylight today. This unique community effort was designed to bri...ng us all together in a time when community spirit is most needed. The relay will continue over 22 days, and we have about 450 runners participating. Starting in Tooradin and snaking it's way though Melbourne to end in Sorrento, the baton (a socially distanced selfie) will pass through just under 280 suburbs and is expected to go about 930km. For our members outside the metro area, we will be virtually "throwing" the baton to them so that they can participate before being thrown back to continue in the metro area. If you see someone running down the street in your suburb wearing a blue VUR shirt, be sure to wave
