As part of the METRONET Tho...rnlie-Cockburn Link, were taking the opportunity to upgrade the Ranford Road Bridge to cater for future growth, and to improve access to the new Ranford Road station. Doing the upgrade now will prevent the need for costly, disruptive upgrades in coming years. The new bridge will be higher to future-proof the rail corridor, and will have eight lanes, including six general traffic lanes, bus lanes and a shared path on each side for cycling and pedestrians.

04.01.2022 When we upload our daily COVID-19 update later today, it will mark six continuous months of publishing these posts. That means weve now posted 184 daily update...s so Western Australians have clear, detailed and reliable current information to help fight this pandemic. When we started, on 5 March, we were processing the news of the virus spreading on the cruise ship in Japan and two of the three cases wed seen in Western Australia were associated with that outbreak. At the time, we were all uncertain how significant COVID-19 would be as a global event. But it did not take long for that to become clear. Within just a few short days and weeks, many of the changes we had to become used to were in place. Restrictions on international travel came into place, followed by the hard state border just a few days later. Looking back on that period, its truly amazing how quickly things moved. But whats even more remarkable was the response of Western Australians. Aside from some early panic about toilet paper, West Aussies pulled together and did a remarkable job at containing the initial spread of the virus. The people of WA rose to the challenge, followed the rules and achieved a truly remarkable result for the health, safety and economic prosperity of our community. The reason we are in such an enviable position isnt just because of the measures we put in place, but because of the attitude that Western Australians took into the fight. Together, united, we made sacrifices not just for our own health, but to protect the lives of those around us. Together, united, we helped our State to reach a level of remarkable stability, limited the economic damage of the pandemic and safely got WA back to work. I know the sacrifices that people have had to make have been hard - especially on those of us with loved ones interstate or overseas. And sadly, the fight is a long way from over. Our hard border remains in place, and no one can say how long it will take for the world to return to anything like normal. When we started producing our daily updates, we were not sure what numbers they would be recording. We are fortunate that over the six months that followed that information has been, more often than not, relatively good news for our State. To everyone who has supported these posts, shared them and worked hard to get our State to the position that it is in: Sincerely: Thank you.
