22.01.2022 Competition Clay Target Sooting Returns Again. For the second time this year, competition shooting will return to the Violet Town Sporting Complex. With 3 events scheduled on Sunday 8th November including the N.E.Zone Continental Championship, it is expected most of the regular shooters who have been loyal supporters will attend. The club has lost 6 of its programmed competition days in 2020, which hasn’t helped the club’s budget; however the training days on Wednesday afternoon have at least put some funds in the coffers. Competition start time is 1pm with the traps open prior to then for much needed practice. Those attending are reminded of the need to contact the club secretary, Rob Stackhouse on (03) 5795 2704 prior to the shoot and that all Covid-19 protocols are to be followed.

If the infection rate has decreased and stabilized and the rules haven't changed we will look at restarting practice in September. Please Stay safe and keep well Regards Iain Towers President ECTC

12.01.2022 Euroa Benefits from State Clay Target Championship’s Cancellation With the Victorian Clay Target Association cancelation of the State Championships due to Covid 19 restrictions, this left the Euroa Clay Target Club in the enviable position of staging a return to competition shooting on this date. And so it was, with visiting competitors as far away as Castlemain as well as the regular members from surrounding clubs. The only downside was shooters from the Melbourne rin...g of steel missed out by a day on being able to attend. Two Championships were on offer with the traditional Side by Side Double Barrel Championship followed by the N.E.Zone Continental Championship. The Side by Side event is a throwback to yesteryears when the old style shotgun was the norm. It was keenly contested with just two shooters managing to break the 20 targets thrown. They were Castlemaine’s Rick McKinnon and Loddon Police Districts club member Paul Akkermans. The resulting final shoot off went just 7 targets before Paul missed his and left Rick with the Championship Sash. The Continental Championship was won outright by the North East Zone Association President Lee Fitzgerald with the only possible score of 25/25. Lee seems to make habit of raiding Euroa as when visiting, as he very rarely misses out on taking home a championship sash. The Euroa committee wishes to thank all who attended making the return off competition a great success. 10.01.2022 Tony Rohrlach braves difficult weather conditions to win Continental Championship Competition shooting returned at the Violet Town Complex on Sunday 12th July where competitors were greeted by challenging conditions. Showers, rain and the dull light didn’t help for those gathered at the Euroa Clay Target Club for the first competition shoot since March when the State closed down due to Coved 19. Unfortunately several of the club’s metropolitan members could not attend d...ue to the restrictions on movement. However, Tony Rohrlach showed he has not lost his ability to break difficult targets when he shot the only possible 25/25 targets to take out the Continental Championship outright. The following event, the club handicap, was shared by Cassandra Comensoli and Geoff McClure, both on 23/25 which was a fine score due to the weather setting in even further with persistent rain falling. Looking to future competition, the club will be guided by the State regulations as the Corona Virus looks like it could spread beyond the current lockdown proclamation. Sunday 9th August would be the next competition shoot. Meanwhile members are reminded of the training afternoons on Wednesday between 2pm and 4pm. 08.01.2022 Clay Target Shooting Training Sessions Return Training sessions conducted by the Euroa Clay Target Club have returned at the Violet Town Shooting Complex. They have been set for Wednesday afternoon’s from 2pm to 4pm. The usual precautions for shooters attending will continue as per when the Government restrictions were reimposed back in August. This includes contacting the club secretary, Rob Stackhouse on (03) 5795 2704 prior to attending and then signing the health de...claration form on arrival. Naturally if not well, please stay away. As for competition in the future, this is in limbo at the club at the moment. It was disappointing that the regional covid-19 restrictions were not altered by the Victorian Government this weekend. There is a possibility that competition could be scheduled for the club’s usual second Sunday shoot. Certainly the club will be open that Sunday 11th October from 1pm to enable the members unable to attend during the week to hone their skills then. The above conditions also apply on that Sunday.

04.01.2022 Change of Euroa Clay Target Club President The Euroa Clay Target Club conducted the club’s annual general meeting on Friday evening 20th November. Following a welcome barbecue the meeting commenced at 8pm with club office bearers giving their respective reports. Club President, Iain Towers reported on the two main topics. The effect of the Covid-19 epidemic on the functioning of the club through this difficult time. With the lack of competition shoots for much of the... season, at least the club was able to continue with training shoots for much of the year, thus providing some funds to offset the loss of income. The other main topic in his report was the ongoing club rooms project in conjunction with the Eastern Central Districts Rifle Association. Iain has been the main representative of the Clay Target Club in bringing this valuable asset towards a successful conclusion. Following his report, he stated that he was stepping down as President as he felt it was time to regenerate the committee as the club goes forward. Iain joined the club in 2007 and has been a stalwart of the club taking over the Presidency from Rob Barns during the club’s relocation to the Violet Town Range and helping oversee various building projects to get club re-established and operational again. Another club stalwart, Laurie Fitzpatrick accepted the nomination as Club President and was elected un-opposed. Laurie joined the Euroa Club in 2004 and has been especially helpful in anything to do with the installation of anything electrical. As the principal of Fortified Electrics, Laurie has sponsored many events with the Annual Bushranger Championship currently his major event. He is also sponsopring a major Mother’s Day raffle next year. Congratulations to Laurie. Rob Stackhouse is continuing as secretary and John King remains treasurer. The club’s final competition shoot for 2020 is the Annual Christmas Shoot on Sunday 13th December with plenty of Christmas prizes on offer.

03.01.2022 N.E.Zone President attends Euroa Training Session The North Eastern Zone President, Lee Fitzgerald attended the Euroa Clay Target Club’s first Sunday training session since the Covid-19 pandemic closed clay target clubs in mid March. While the Euroa club has provided training on Wednesday afternoons, this Sunday session gave shooters that are in the work force the opportunity to hone their skills prior to competition shooting. It is hoped that there will be a return to co...mpetition shooting on a limited scale in July provided the State Government restrictions are lifted. The Club had visitors from Alexandra, Colbinabbin, Shepparton-Numurkah that swelled the numbers with most shooters taking the opportunity to shoot at least 50 targets each. Lee Fitzgerald and his son Robbie shot side by side with both displaying their shooting skills haven’t dropped during the lay off. Euroa’s top shot, Tony Rohrlach certainly will be a force to be reckoned when competition returns, breaking targets at will. All in all a much welcome return for the shooting fraternity. Club secretary, Rob Stackhouse gave his famous Golden Gun one of its rare outings which was great to see. The engraving on this particular model of shotgun is certainly impressive putting the more modern guns to shame. The training sessions will continue to be held on Wednesday afternoons beginning at 2pm. Those wishing to attend are reminded to phone secretary Rob Stackhouse (03) 5795 2704 to book their training slot. The decision on competition shootings return will be made by the club committee depending on how the State restrictions are eased
