24.01.2022 Today, National Sorry Day, we recognise the generational pain and suffering caused by Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children being stolen from their families and say we are sorry and we will work together to ensure our history is not forgotten and will walk together towards Reconciliation.

24.01.2022 Blaxlanders, Please note the Australia Bureau of Meteorology (BOM) has issued concern for significant weather events from Sunday the 12th of July onwards. This ...includes the potential for heavy rainfall, road and riverine flooding, damaging winds strong enough to bring down trees and powerlines. As this system develops early next week, snow is also possible for some locations on the central and northern ranges. Severe Weather Warnings will be issued closer to the event if required. Forecasts for this period will be refined as the evolution of the weather system becomes clearer. For further information, please monitor weather warnings and community advisories via the BOM website www.bom.gov.au

21.01.2022 Farewell to our Warooga class of 2020! What a fabulous night we shared on Friday with children, families and educators coming together to celebrate the children’s learning journey. We began with Acknowledgement to Country and then the educators led the following songs... First was a Japanese song called ‘Hajimaru Yo’... Then a Maori Poi song /dance called ‘E rere taku Poi’, then an emotive song called ‘Do you know I’m going to school?’ They did so well in this mini performance in front of a large crowd! I am delighted to see the rich cultural teaching and learning that has been shared with the Warooga children this year. Then, two parents made beautiful speeches sharing fond memories and anecdotes from their time at Euroka. Thankyou Nyree and Janine! Another parent Dani, worked with the children in preceding weeks to produce a poignant art work with contributions from all children and educators. Thanks Dani! The children then received certificates, gifts and delicious cake designed and made by our in-house cook Elaine. The Warooga children requested a disco on the night and sing and dance they did! So much fun Thanks everyone for a great night!

13.01.2022 Dear Families, The a Department of Education has asked families who have visited China in the last two weeks to stay home before returning to school or early learning services. The Health and Education Departments are recommending to stay home for 14 days after returning from China. The incubation period for the coronavirus is 14 days. We are not aware of any of our families that traveled to China but wanted to encourage the sharing of this information. https://education.nsw.gov.au//coronavirus-department-of-ed

06.01.2022 At Euroka part of our philosophy is that we are all different and that’s okay! This is a lovely story in explaining this.

06.01.2022 This time last week we were in the middle of our Master Classes!! Ten of our wonderful educators shared their knowledge on how to make different types of paints, glues, sensory activities, up coming Munch and Move initiatives, how/what/why/when to use the MDS folders, the 7 elements of art, allergies, worm farming, Aboriginal story telling and the inclusion of Torres Strait Islander perspectives into our program! It was a wonderful night of sharing and learning together. Our delicious dinner was provided by Sorelle a local catering business owned by one of our families-thanks Sarah Smith! https://www.facebook.com/sorelleeats/ https://www.sorelleeats.com/

05.01.2022 Funds raised from cookies and cookbook go to Indigenous Communities; Funds raised from the story books go to Indigenous Resources for Euroka. Please bring correct change.

05.01.2022 Our Native Beehive We recently discovered that we have a native beehive established in one of the big gum trees located between the upper and lower car park. A local expert informed us that a naturally established hive in this area is very rare so we were thrilled to be so close to this kind of amazing biodiversity. The Waroogas came out before lunch today and we sat under the big, beautiful gum trees. To begin with, we read the Dreamtime story 'How the Kangaroos Got Their T...ails'. This story tells the tale of 2 kangaroos hunting for sugarbag (wild bush honey), so I felt that it was an interesting and relevant way to introduce our own native hive. After the story, in small groups, we went and had a closer inspection of the native (stingless) bee hive. We got to observe the bees carrying balls of yellow pollen back to the hive on their legs. We also looked at the claw marks left in the trunks of the gums and considered what animals would have made them- possums, sugar gliders, koalas...Lots of lucky Waroogas will be coming home with a souvenir cicada shell from this expedition! Place-based learning like this, is such a wonderful way for the Waroogas to develop their appreciation for the natural environment and the incredible place they call home. We will consider the bees' needs when we plan our future garden and keep an eye on the biodiversity at our front door, setting us up for endless future learning.

05.01.2022 Yesterdays announcements to provide free childcare during this time, is a reassuring lifeline for our families. We are still in the process of ensuring we have a full understanding of what this means for us all. I will be hosting two Q&A sessions through Zoom Monday, with times and log ins coming out later today. Fees have been processed as normal last night. Any refunds will be processed next week. I am collecting all your questions and will answer these during our sessions, along with any that you bring to these. We will supply a fact sheet that you will find in your pigeon holes and on Storypark. Happy Friday

03.01.2022 The Warooga teachers worked hard last night. They thought the children should have some light. To investigate, shade, colour, reflection, shadow and more. What will we discover, learn and come to know? Stay tuned, we may even put on a light show!

01.01.2022 The first week of work for our Warooga children. After reading Spark, Rowan suggested that the book wasnt finished and that they should draw pictures of the bush coming to life after the fires. What a beautiful example of hope and regeneration. Later in the week as the rain came the children delighted in playing in the rain and representing it in their paintings.

01.01.2022 Happy Friday everyone! A big thank you to all our supportive families this week and to Zoe and her beautiful Mum Cathy for bringing these in for us. What beautiful inspiration awaits the Warooga children next week! Enjoy your weekend and we might see you at our PMC meeting Monday 16th March @7PM.
