20.01.2022 At the going down of the sun, and in the morning, we will remember them. In honour of Remembrance Day, we take a look into the past of the SS Maheno. Built in Scotland in 1905, the luxury cruise ship was one of the first turbine-driven steamers and one of the fastest ships of her time.... The Maheno was commissioned as a hospital ship in Europe during World War I, also serving in the Mediterranean and Red Sea. Later, while being towed to Japan for scrapping, the Maheno met an unseasonal cyclone and was washed ashore on the eastern coast of Fraser Island, on July 8th, 1935. This historic hull is now a significant landmark along 75 Mile Beach.

From our team, our thoughts and condolences go out to Sid's family, friends and former colleagues at his funeral service today in Maryborough. 03.01.2022 We’d like to reassure our guests that Eurong Beach Resort remains open and is safe for travellers to visit. There is a bushfire at the northern end of Fraser Island, currently affecting access to some of the camping sites. However, this fire is being closely monitored by Queensland Parks & Wildlife Services and currently poses no threat to the resort. Access to the resort via the inland tracks and the southern coastline is unaffected, and most attractions on the island (Lak...e McKenzie, Eli Creek etc) are still accessible as normal. We recommend that you check with our team at reception before heading out for your day of 4WD'ing on the island, so that we can advise the latest updates for travelling north along 75 Mile Beach.
