For pre-2000 Japanese vehicles, a capacitor renewal service is available for $99. Vehicles from these years have deteriorating electrolytic capacitors inside the ECU. As deterioration progresses, symptoms range from loss of low end power, unsteady idling, starting difficulty, rough shifting and even A/C compressor issues. 03.01.2022 Visually this 47 microfarad capacitor looks good with no sign of leakage. However with the capacitance meter it has given a reading of 66 microfarad therefore exceeding its tolerance. This indicates the capacitor will leak onto the PCB very soon. This is why at Eurotronix when an ECU comes into our workshop for repair we go above and beyond to replace all capacitor components to protect your investment.
