24.01.2022 BOOK CLUB! 'In Tantrism, it is very different. You self-sacrifice, but you are doing it for yourself. That is the irony. The Buddha is not saying anything to you or saying you have to do certain things. Self-sacrifice occurs when one part of you dies and a new one is reborn. The old self is sacrificed so that the new one can begin to develop. As long as the old you is still acting out and behaving badly, then what you are within yourself, your true nature, the clear light min...d, would have no chance to gain a footing or find habitation. Something that we are so familiar with in ourselves, that we do not like, has to die and then a new one will be reborn.' Traleg Kyabgon - Vajrayana (p. 118). Shogam Publications. Kindle Edition. https://evaminstitute.org/event/traleg-rinpoche-book-club/

22.01.2022 THE TANTRIC WISDOM OF THE BUDDHA with Sam Bercholz 2021 Buddhist Summer School Online 9-11 January 2021 Sam is a senior teacher in the Nyingma and Kagyu lineages of Tibetan Buddhism and the founder of Shambhala Publications. He has been a close disciple of Kyabje Thinley Norbu Rinpoche and Chögyam Trungpa Rinpoche, and was empowered by both of them to teach Buddhadharma.... 'The Tantric Wisdom of the Buddha' An exploration of the principles and meditation practices of the Indo-Tibetan tantric traditions, particularly from the point of view of the Nyingma and Kagyu schools. Rather than just presenting the philosophy, we’ll focus on the direct and experiential aspects of the teachings. The differences between Hindu and Buddhist tantra will be discussed stressing the nontheistic foundation of Buddhism. We’ll also discuss the important role of the lama and the meaning of tantric transmissions. Sam has taught at many E-Vam events and Summer Schools over the decades and it is our great joy to once again have Sam teach at the 2021 Buddhist Summer School. 21.01.2022 Llewellyn hails from the Bellarine Peninsula and has been coming to the Buddhist Summer School for probably close to twenty years. For him, it’s a unique event in the Dharma world in Australia, especially for the diversity of Buddhist perspectives it brings together - amazing teachers from different parts of the world and different traditions of Buddhism - and because it unites academic and traditional approaches to study and practice. All of this reflects Traleg Rinpoch...e’s vision of making E-Vam a Buddhist university, Llewellyn says. That vision is enduring. This year the Buddhist Summer School is up close and personal online via Zoom. Set January 9th - 11th aside and participate from the comfort of your own home. Start the new year with this meaningful opportunity to learn from a diversity of great teachers. 01.01.2022 Jack, from Footscray in Melbourne, has been coming to the Buddhist Summer School for the past two years. I think at that time of the year there’s space. There’s a sense of anticipation for what the year will hold it’s in an intermediate state between the birth of the new year, New Year’s Day, and the start of the business of the new year. And I think it’s a very good time to have the space and leisure to contemplate the Buddhist teachings and to load up your mind with som...e positive things for the year, to set some intentions to put the teachings into practice. The Summer School is also fun there’s a really nice community there and there’s a sense that everyone’s just hanging out and just being together. It’s not a really formal practice environment but it’s still a powerful place to be for contemplation. That’s what I like about it. I like the feeling that it’s quite casual but it’s also the real deal it’s not a watered down, simplified environment for the teachings, it’s quite profound. This year the Buddhist Summer School is up close and personal online via zoom. Set January the 9th - 11th aside, participate from the comfort of your own home. Start the new year with this meaningful opportunity to learn from these great teachers.
