25.01.2022 Wowee! That’s close.

23.01.2022 The Australian Penny Farthing Championships, known as the fastest Penny Farthing race in the world, the Australian Penny Farthing championships, won by Tim Nash, James Fowler and Ryan Sullivan.

23.01.2022 It is with great sadness that we share news of the passing of Di Sullivan, our friend and driving force behind the Evandale Village Fair and National Penny Farthing Championships for more than three decades. Not one to keep idle, Di will be remembered for her incredible contribution to the Evandale community. We know the thoughts of the penny farthing community are with Michael and their sons, Patrick, Sean and Ryan at this time.

21.01.2022 TODAY continue their tour of Tasmania this morning, bringing the weather to you live from Evandale! Karl just said that Penny Farthing racing should become an Olympic sport - hmmm... who do we chat to about that? Who’s in?

18.01.2022 Are you keen for even more penny farthing action? See the riders and bikes on the open road tomorrow in the Clarendon Road Race. Departing from Evandale at 10 am, riders will travel south on their way to Clarendon House. The fastest riders take just over an hour to complete the 20 miles. Give them a wave if you see them! With thanks to McBain Cycles for sponsoring the road race. Photo by John Fisher.

16.01.2022 Busy afternoon and evening yesterday so I didn’t get a chance to post anything about the 32 kilometre road race. I really enjoy this race as it’s the open road,... the course is undulating with a few good hills that are tough to keep speed up, which adds to the challenge. Won by James Fowler in 1hr 6mins, followed by Doug Suter, Darren Singline, then the NO.1 Ladies right in there at the top, Lizanne Willmott, followed by Erin Maboub, Jo Junor. #pennyfarthing #pennyfarthingdan #cycleracing #bicycle #ride #chickswhoride See more

13.01.2022 Steve Whitworth from the Northern Tasmanian Camera Club Public Page captured some photos of Saturday's racing. These are just some of the many photos that will be shared from various photographers. For the riders - you might be able to spot yourself in this gallery! Thank you Steve for sharing! https://www.flickr.com/photos/187168073@N06/albums

13.01.2022 What a day, and perfect weather! Thank you to all those who joined in on the fun today. Ready to do it all again next year?

13.01.2022 Australian Penny Farthing ladies Championships, absolutely amazing speed and performance. Won by Liz Fox, Bridie Maynard, Clare Maynard.

12.01.2022 How’s this for an incredible story: this woman and her father attended the 2019 event, where he lost his St Christopher pendant. He didn’t realise until the following day when he was on a flight back to the UK. This year, his daughter returned to the event, hoping someone may have found it. Our race caller, Rod, made an announcement, at the same time, someone in Pioneer Park saw something shine in the grass, and reached down to find the medal. 12 months it had gone unnoticed in the grass! Needless to say, it was returned to a very happy owner!

11.01.2022 Committee members of the Evandale Village Fair and National Penny Farthing Championships are disappointed to have made the difficult decision to cancel the event planned for Saturday 20 February 2021. The fair and penny farthing races have been held in the village of Evandale for the past 38 years and the historic location has always been part of the event’s charm. However, it has also provided a unique challenge for organisers when navigating COVID-19 safety. Street closure...s, which are necessary for racing, result in limited space on the village footpaths for spectators and make social distancing extremely difficult. Whilst the wheels have stopped turning for now, we look forward to planning what's in store for our 40 year anniversary in 2022! Photo by Ian Moore.

07.01.2022 Launceston Distillery produces hand-crafted, small-batch whisky. Using traditional techniques and craftsmanship, Tasmanian malted barley and pure river water are combined to produce the finest quality single malt whisky under the roof of Hangar 17 at Launceston Airport. If you're over 18, help us thank them for their kind sponsorship of this year's Veterans Over 60 race by calling in to Hangar 17, just 5 mins away! Open Mon-Fri, 10am - 4pm.

05.01.2022 There's entertainment for everyone tomorrow!

04.01.2022 With many thanks to the official event Photographer @Ian Moore He travelled again from interstate to capture these wonderful images (and hundreds more!) For the riders: if you'd like images of yourself, please send us a message with your name and description of what you were wearing, and we'll do our best to find you amongst the dozens of images! ... Thank you yet again Ian!

02.01.2022 Cashless society you say? No problem! Eftpos will be accepted at the main gate, near the Evandale Post Office, and at the merchandise stand this year. All other entry gates will accept cash only. See you tomorrow!
