25.01.2022 Today marks the 80th anniversary of the establishment of No. 1 Bombing and Gunnery School at Evans Head in Far North NSW. What are your memories of Evans He...ad? Let us know below, and take a journey through history here: http://bit.ly/Evans-Head-80th At its peak, the school had some 70 Fairey Battle single-engine light bomber aircraft as well as extensive bombing and gunnery ranges in active daily use to the north and south of the of the Evans Head township. Over the years, we have continued to utilise the southern range as a primary training area for honing the skills of aircrew flying numerous military aircraft, including the Bristol Beaufighter, Canberra Bomber, F-4E Phantom, F-111C, F/A-18F Super Hornet and, most recently, the F-35A Lightning II. #AusAirForce

24.01.2022 Today, 15 September, is Battle of Britain Day - and this year marks 80 years since this important battle of the Second World War. The sacrifices of the Royal A...ir Force, including the Australian pilots who flew with them, were acknowledged in services over the weekend in Hobart and Adelaide. You can watch the commemorative service that was held at St David's Cathedral in Hobart on Saturday here: https://www.facebook.com/cathedralhobart/videos/799381120890119 The Battle of Britain occurred during the summer and autumn of 1940, as the Royal Air Force fought a prolonged battle in the defence of Britain against an experienced and numerically superior German Luftwaffe. Lest we forget.

24.01.2022 With the RAAF’s Classic Hornet fleet in the twilight of its career, there aren’t many chances left to catch, and admire this great aircraft that has, and is cu...rrently serving with 77 and 75 Squadron. Here’s a great video depicting the RAAF’s Hornets in action. https://youtu.be/k_sB_5_0gTk

23.01.2022 2020 has been one of the most challenging years Australians have faced. This week, No. 77 Squadron wants to say a big THANK YOU - to all of you in the local area, for your support o...ver 30 years of flying - with flying displays around the Newcastle area. Check out our #FlyingActivity website to find out when and where the will be: http://bit.ly/AFFlyingActivity It may be the end of an era for No. 77 Squadron, but F/A-18A/B Hornet operations will still continue for No. 75 Squadron at RAAF Base Tindal. We'd love to see your pics! #AusAirForce

19.01.2022 SFC launches a world first: The Sydney International Airport Trial Instructional Flight You heard it right. For a strictly limited time we are offering the oppo...rtunity for anybody to fly into Sydney International in the left-hand seat of the cockpit - normally reserved for captains of passenger jets! The downturn in air traffic at Sydney International presents a unique (but short-lived) opportunity to turn your flying lesson into a once-in-a-lifetime experience. Act now, as the opportunity for itinerant aircraft to fly into Sydney Airport could disappear at any time. Book now and don’t miss out: http://bit.ly/SFC-YSSY-TIF Sydney Airport #SydneyAirport #YSSY

08.01.2022 PARATROOPERS ... one of the first freelance magazine articles I wrote and photographed was at the Parachute Training School at HMAS Albatross at Nowra. Young so...ldiers underwent a couple of weeks of intense instruction and were then sent aloft to jump from Caribou and C-130 Hercules aircraft. That first jump was always a bit intense and everyone handled it differently. Most survived but a few broke bones or injured themselves. Such is the lot of a paratrooper! See more

07.01.2022 One week left to our Centenary - and one more iconic aircraft! At NUMBER ONE in the countdown of our most iconic aircraft of the last 100 years, it’s the on...e you’ve all been waiting for: the General Dynamics F-111C. Arriving in Australia in 1973, the ‘Pig’ was the fastest aircraft we have ever operated. Its innovated swing-wing design allowed it to fly at a top speed of Mach 2.5, or two and a half times the speed of sound. A favourite at air displays for decades until its retirement in 2010, it doesn’t get more iconic than an F-111 dump and burn. Did you get to see the F-111 in action? #AirForce100 #ThenNowAlways #AusAirForce
