09.01.2022 Today the team at Mac-nels Evans Intnl decided to get a yummy cake for our Melbourne Export trade operator who has hit all our goals and had a record week of Export Loads out of a locked down Victoria. Emma is a graduate of International Business from QUT but had no idea what she was getting herself into when she decided to become a trainee consolidator at EIFC. 05.01.2022 Morning all, I wanted to tell you NOT to trust our schedules !!! In fact don’t trust ANY schedule for the next month or so As a Consolidator, our forwarder customers tend to rely on our schedules being fixed day, weekly and reliable; but at the moment a schedule is out of date within what seems mere hours!!! Lets explain by adding some insult to existing injury ;... Virus mania effecting borders across Australia and Melbourne’s Lockdown continuing. Vessel delays due to weather. Vessel bunching based on missed berthing windows. Vessel port Omissions to try to maintain schedule on the balance of a round trip voyage. Industrial action at several terminals. No space at the container parks to redeliver empties which is also effecting Equipment availability for Export. (especially Sydney) A Congestion surcharge is being applied by MSC ; I’m going to go out on a limb here and suggest that ALL shipping lines will follow suit over the next little while! So how do we suggest you cope; The only place you can have any ETA and ETD (and close off date) certainty is online with "1 stop". Last week we saw 3 date changes for a particular vessel within 1 hour so make sure to "refresh" the page often so that changes show up. We use the fastest carriers for our Export Consols so swapping to an alternate vessel usually doesn’t improve the arrival date/Transit time) at destinations.
