21.01.2022 OFFICIALS COURSE COMING UP Caves Beach SLSC will be holding an Officials Course on Thursday 22nd April at 6pm, upstairs in the clubhouse. No prior experience is required and it's a great way to support the club and help out at Carnivals.... We would love to see members from all sections participate in this course and assist the club in building our official numbers. Please register your attendance via email [email protected]. The officials course involves both an online and face to face component, with the online component to be completed before the face to face course. Once you have registered via email, further instructions will be sent regarding the online component and how to complete it. There is a cost associated with this course, however on successful accreditation the club will reimburse you the fee paid. Should you have any questions please contact [email protected]

20.01.2022 HAPPY SUNDAY It was another great day for Nippers at Caves Beach today. The weather looked ominous, but the rain held off and we had a great start to the season for our U9s to U14s. A big shout out to our fantastic group of U14s who commenced their last season of Nippers today. They're such a wonderful group of young people who support the club and each other and we're very proud of them.... And a big thank you to our wonderful Age Managers, Water Safety and parents. You make it all happen. See you on the beach.



20.01.2022 SKI TRAINING / COACHING SESSION THIS SUNDAY 28TH MARCH Our Ski Captain Paul Carter is hosting a Surf Ski Training/Coaching Session this Sunday 28th of March at Salts Bay. The session will kick off at 10.30am and is open to all club members (including parents, juniors and others) who would like to give ski paddling a try. ... Equipment will be made available for use on the day, including double skis, single skis and paddles. If you've ever wanted to try out a surf ski or find out about ski paddling, this is the perfect opportunity. 19.01.2022 Swansea Belmont Carnival Entries Now Open Round 2 of the Newcastle Permanent series will be held at Swansea Belmont. All entries close with the club on Sun 1st November 2020 at 6pm to allow time for processing. Please be aware that only financial and proficient members are eligible to be entered.... As it is likely that we will need to take into account result at our three Newcastle Permanent carnivals & the Envirobank Elite Series between now and the end of the year as part of that selection, in case our Branch championships are held after entries close. We wanted to let the clubs know so you can be communicating this to your members sooner rather than later. We are working on a selection policy for this, to be sent out to clubs and members and communication will go out across all channels in due course." 13.01.2022 CARNIVAL INFORMATION - SATURDAY 7TH NOVEMBER @ SWANSEA BELMONT SLSC This Saturday's carnival will be running over 2 waves: - Carnival Wave 1 - U12s and U14s: Beach Flags will start at 7.30am with all other events starting at 8am... NOTE Beach must be cleared before 2nd wave can arrive or commence - Carnival Wave 2 - U11s & U13: Starts at 11am and they have asked that all U11 and U13s do not arrive before 10.30am due to COVID19 restrictions There will be sprint relays, board relays and swim teams for those age groups that have enough competitors. Age Managers will select teams on the day and their decision will be final. The club is not allowed to set up a tent at the carnival, so it would be a good idea to bring an umbrella for shade throughout the carnival. Please ensure competitors bring their Newcastle Permanent Rashie and Competitors Cap. Just a couple of reminders from Hunter SLS Everyone attending must check in via the link below or a QR Code displayed at the carnival and show confirmation screen to the volunteers before proceeding to the beach. 12.01.2022 REMINDER - JUNIOR SWIM PROFICIENCY SATURDAY 31 OCTOBER Our Junior Preliminary Evaluations are being held again this Saturday 31/10/2020 at Swansea Swim Centre. The times are as follows:... - Under 8's - 3pm - Under 9's - 3.30pm - Under 10's & Under 11's - 4pm - Under 12's, Under 13's & *Under 14's - 4.30. *Please note under 14's who have their SRC are not required to undertake the junior evaluations as they will participate in the senior proficiencies. Please be aware for nippers wishing to compete at carnivals or participate in board training there is also a Competition Evaluation that will need to be completed. (Board training is for under 9's and up only.) Covid Arrangements: In the current Covid-19 climate things will look a little different when you arrive at the pool for the Preliminary Evaluation. Please walk your child to the entrance, pay their entry fee and sign into the pools covid register via their QR Code - they will be their to assist you in doing this. We will then mark your child off and take them to complete their evaluation. Parents will not be permitted to enter the pool and we will be asking you to either return to your car or wait outside the building. Once your child has completed their evaluation, they will then be escorted out of the pool for you to collect from the grassed area at the front of the pool. Please be assured that your children will be fully supervised and looked after whilst they are completing their evaluation. Please make sure your children have their goggles and towels with them as they enter the pool. We ask that you please arrive at the correct time and please do not ask us to allow children from different age groups to complete their evaluations outside of the allocated times, as this will not be permitted. We need to adhere to the councils covid plan and the governments guidelines and to do this we need to manage our numbers and take accurate records. In case of inclement weather, a text message will be sent if we need to call off our evaluations. We will also post it on our social media. 05.01.2022 CHRISTMAS NIPPERS Our last Nippers sessions for 2020 were fun days on the sand. Our Nippers enjoyed using some wonderful new equipment which the club was able to source, thanks to the support of the Swansea Lions Club. There was also a special guest appearance from the man in the red suit. Thank you to Swansea Lions Club for your ongoing support of Caves Beach SLSC.

05.01.2022 STATE CHAMPS - MASTERS WRAP UP This weekend saw our Masters Competitors in action at the State Championships. The weather gods weren't kind to the competitors, with some particularly difficult conditions today, but our team took it all in their stride.... We had some amazing results over the weekend with top six finishes in ski events by John Gifford, Robert Hunt and Warren Thompson and on the sand by Wade Alcock, along with medal winners in four events. Congratulations to all of the team and a special shout out to our State Medalists: Male Single Ski - Silver to Paul Carter Male Double Ski - Gold to Paul Carter and Robert Hunt Male Beach Sprint - Silver to Steve Smith Male Beach Flags - Gold to Wade Alcock Such outstanding results. 04.01.2022 Important Nippers Information - Junior Preliminary Examinations In preparation for the new season, preliminary evaluations for our nippers will be held on the following dates at Swansea Swim Centre Saturday 26th September Saturday 10th October... Saturday 31st October All nippers are required to complete an evaluation if they wish to participate in our nippers program. Due to COVID-19, there will be some changes this year. Evaluations will take place at the following times: Under 8’s 2pm Under 9’s 2:30pm Under 10’s and Under 11’s 3:10pm Under 12’s, Under 13’s and Under 14’s* 3:40pm We ask that you please turn up at the correct time. Children will only be able to complete their evaluation at the allocated time for their age group. *Under 14’s who have their SRC aren’t required to attend this proficiency evaluation. They will participate in the senior proficiencies. Under 13’s or 14’s undertaking their SRC are welcome to do their timed swim on one of these days. Under 6’s and 7’s are not required to attend preliminary evaluations. For nippers wishing to attend carnivals or board training, there is also a competition evaluation that they will need to complete. Please ensure you attend to remain an active patrol members and ensure you meet your requirement for competition.
