24.01.2022 Its not business as usual today.

24.01.2022 Today we had the privilege of packing kitchen restock kits for ten households in Dandenong. That's ten women and their young children who received bountiful kits with everything from fresh produce to chocolate & our very own home made Kinfolk baby food. Somehow, defying spatial laws we loaded 20 hefty boxes, ten bags & one HUGE esky into a car chauffeured by inTouch, the Multicultural Centre Against Family Violence. This photo is all smiles but behind the scenes we'll admit i...t's been saddening to learn the circumstances of the women inTouch supports. The recipients of these kits are all on visas that preclude them from welfare and are without income. And home isolation is much more difficult to navigate when they live with their perpetrator. But we're damn glad that organisations like inTouch exist to provide support to these women & their families. And boy oy boy, we are damn grateful to you too. Your donations & support of the shop has made this possible. Without you even banging on our door to buy coffee we wouldn't be in a place to deliver this food relief. All in all, today was a busy shop day, but holy smokes, it most certainly was a good day's hard work! Thank-you for playing a BIG part. Full hearts today. http://siblingbykinfolk.org.au/shop See more

23.01.2022 Head Operations has moved over to Carlton satellite site, Sibling. Not only are we serving tasty coffee & takeaway food still, but we've launched an online storefront to keep you stocked up with life's necessities - coffee, groceries, homecooked meals, pantry staples, produce boxes, fresh sourdough & more. Click on the url in our bio. If you need catering for your crisis covid meetings, we're still delivering catering all over the city. At times like this, we all need some good carbs!

23.01.2022 Wish your folk a good year and a happy holidays with this 'hoo-roo' show bag. It's a little kitsch, VERY delicious and rather heavy handed with both Christmas cheer and lashings of national pride. A little silly, but only appropriately so given the season, and rather sweet. To kick the theme off, we have an orange and hazelnut 'Twilight Flight' from Melbourne's own Willy Wonka, Hey Tiger, in a special edition xmas roo chocolate box. We've baked a fresh loaf of gingerbread wit...h thick treacle & ginger, and if you haven't yet got the memo yet that Christmas is nigh, there's maple & cinnamon spiced seasonal popcorn with a rather rude rudolph. Finally, to round it out, we've wrapped it up in an an iconic linen tea-towel keepsake from Melbourne textile house, Rodriguez. Can't mistake this gift theme, it really does scream 'hooroo, see you in 2021!' (For those not schooled in Australian colloquialism, FYI hoo-roo is a distinctively Australian way of saying goodbye) We've even got Chrissy Skippy cards to complement. If this is your cuppa, black & strong with two sugars, then you'll be stoked to know there's more silliness where this came from - check out our aisles! We know it's a little green to be talking Christmas in November, but this year as flown and we'd recommend our corporate customers get their orders in early. See more

22.01.2022 Proud to have helped launch the Social Procurement Framework this morning! It's a huge step forward for the Victorian Government in supporting social enterprises and will help organisations like ours to build their capacity and offer more opportunities for the people facing barriers to employment.

22.01.2022 Your votes are counted - Kinfolk's coffee bean ballot announced

22.01.2022 A humbling acknowledgment for the ongoing support and contributions of our inspiring community. Kinfolk awarded the Business 3000+ Award for Social Enterprise and also the top prize with the Business of the Year Award.

21.01.2022 So excited to announce that Kinfolk and our wonderful partners The Rails Systems Alliance and CPB contractors are finalists in the Social Traders Annual Social Enterprise Awards!

21.01.2022 We started our humble little Kinfolk cafe nearly ten years ago with strong ideals & social ambitions. As community interest & demand for our volunteer training program grew, we expanded the business to a second site, Sibling. It's been a pretty wild ride to get here, but we're used to change - we're not a singular entity or standalone business, we're an organisation shaped by its stakeholders - our customers, volunteers, champions & charity partners. Today, we took the lea...p into online groceries & local deliveries to support our community during this unique time. There was fresh produce from our farmer mate in Keilor, coffee roasted by our colleague Effi and the boys at Small Batch, gippsland milk, housemade coconut youghurt, foraged pine mushrooms & lots of home cooked deliciousness. Thanks to the our biker friend with heavy metal preferences & sustainable principles, Justin from @heavypedalcourierco, these local sourced goodies & sustainable hampers were pedalled & peddled to households all over Melbourne. And we've just now expanded our delivery network to 33 suburbs (eligible neighbourhoods published on our online store FYI). Keep messaging us if you think we've missed your neighbourhood. Our most popular items? Fresh produce trays and donated meal kits for folk doing it tough proving that our community really champions the Sibling motto, Eat Well, For Good. Thank you! We're dropping new products later this week but don't wait too long. The next pick up / delivery date is Thursday but cut off to order is midnight Monday, @prologueroasters @heavypedalcourierco @smallbatchroast @stdaviddairy @oatly @burdeggs @whogivesacraptp @thankyouaus @mountzeroolives See more

21.01.2022 Last week at the Social Traders awards Kinfolk was awarded best social procurement partnership with our partners from CPB contractors and the Metro Rail Systems Alliance. It is so fantastic seeing more and more large companies engaging with social enterprise. The impact enabled in our organisation from just one of these companies becoming a regular customer is truly transformative. Join the movement and get in touch with our team about catering or hosting your next event.

18.01.2022 Our event spaces have been vacant for the past five months, which is a reflection of how life is temporarily on pause whilst we shake off a global pandemic. But this temporary disruption has enabled our team to focus on the pressing food insecurity caused by Covid. Were stoked to see SBS has listed us, alongside Moroccan Soup Bar and Quat Quatta, as an example of Melbournes food community doing good in this weird and difficult time. We are but one organisation thats connec...ting good food to locals in need, and wed love to emphasise how incredible and rewarding it is to work alongside inTouch Multicultural Centre Against Family Violence to support these families. To add a few more amazing foodie businesses that share our philosophies, wed recommend checking out 1) STREATs Bec for leading the charge with Moving Feast Vic 2) Jessi Singhs Daughter In Law feeding healthcare and hospitality workers and 3) Attica Restaurant Melbournes soup project supported by Adams team at StreetSmart Australia. We're delivering readymade meals, grocery supplies & fresh produce to suburbs all over Melbourne. Our favourite aisle : sweets & treats. There's housemade hot x buns & swedish cinnamon scrolls in the spirit of easter, but if you're a cacao fan we'd recommend our limited edition @citizencacao truffles or @morkchocolate's twice baked chocolate cake. This, and mo...re, available to order from our storefront. https://www.siblingbykinfolk.org.au/shop

01.01.2022 Lactarius deliciosus. $3.5 per 100g. We've just added to our online shop this flavoursome free-range funghi, foraged from local pine forests. These wild pine mushrooms are wildly popular for their nutty flavour, meaty texture & the bright & their bright safron colour. We pick fresh these mushrooms the day before our grocery drop & handle them with great care. Whilst they are a robust & firm mushroom, even the slightest touch will cause a fascinating greenish tint to t...he skin with the appearance of a bruise. But they still taste just as delicious as their latin name suggests. Take a walk on the wild side & enjoy some sauteed pinies with your eggs on toast! https://www.siblingbykinfolk.org.au/produ/foraged-mushrooms See more
