25.01.2022 The most important game and the team strikes the Knights again. Southern Knights won the toss and elected to bat first. In came the in-form opener, Sagar Raj Kandel and Abhishek Joshi. Abhishek Joshi fell to an absolute bulls-eye run out by Jai Koirala in the third over. Jibanta replaced Joshi and they carried out a good partnership before Jibanta fell to Ashish Rana Magar for is 23 runs in 21 balls. Kandel kept battling hard for to lift his team up with the some blistering ...boundaries until he fell to an absolute plumb to Sagar Bhattarai. The two batsman followed Kandel towards pavilion not making much runs, namely Basu Giri and Pramod Basnet. In came Dhiraj Gyawali and he batted on his own style taking down our bowlers towards different parts of the ground before captain Sunam Gautam catching him off his own bowling. Dhiraj fell to a well-made 26 off 22 balls. Another veteran Parash Joshi stroke his signature loft over midwicket for a boundary and snicked some runs from here and there making his individual total to 16 runs off 11 balls and team total to 132 runs in 20 overs. The hero for our team was Aashish Rana who grabbed the important 3 wickets of Jibanta, Pranesh and Pramod in his spell of 4 overs for 27 runs. Sunam, Sagar and Jenish bagged a wicket each in their spell to add an insult to Knights injury. Chasing 133, Sunam fell to Basu Giri for 11 runs. Basu Giri took Gautam’s stumps flying to the ground when the latter was just on 11. Jai Koirala, the hero of previous match, joined Maneesh Khakurel, the saviour. Both of them batted beautifully driving the team towards the win. Maneesh fell to an amazing catch by the veteran Dhiraj Gyawali off Sagar Kandel after the former saving our team from the depth of the ocean. Maneesh made 44 runs in 47 balls. After the fall of Khakurel, Rasim joined Jai. Jai, after helping us almost go past the ocean, fell to Basu Giri for well-made 44 in 44 balls. Rasim too fell for 11 runs in 8 balls to their best Prem Poudel, equally well caught by Kiraj Ojha. But in came the match hero who stroke a beautiful four to Prem Poudel over midwicket helping us secure the victory. The best performance for Knights was done by Basu Giri who grabbed 2 wickets for 23 runs in his spell of 4 overs. Prem Poudel grabbed 2 wickets too while Sagar Raj Kandel grabbed one3 wicket but their efforts went in vain. With an amazing team work, we reached the finals by beating Knights by 5 wickets in the Preliminary Finals. We are all set to face Himalayan Warriors in the finals on the 7th of March, 2020. He is the only Nepali player to score 2 centuries in premier cricket in Australia playing for 1st grade. (One for Greenvale Kangaroos, Victoria and 2nd for SDCC, South Australia ) We would like to serve him with a huge congratulation. ... And we also wish him a very bright furute ahead with many more of these.

20.01.2022 Just as we dreamt of, a good win over Royal Gurkhas in the eliminator, takes us to the Qualifier 2. In a match against Royal Gurkhas, we were sent out to bat first. Opener Maneesh and Sunam steered the innings before Sunam falling to an absolute beauty from Prasoon. Sunam was dismissed for 18 runs in 13 balls. Jai Koirala joined Maneesh in the crease and Oh! What a ride it was. Jai thrashed each and every Gurkhas bowlers out of the park scoring 70 off 45 balls while scintilla...ting Maneesh stood tall with Jai for an unbeaten 64 off 57 balls. The stand out performer for Gurkhas was Prasoon who took the big fish out of the equation while Ankit Shrestha went wicketless but tightened the patch from the other side conceding only 26 off 4 overs when majority of the bowlers were going for 8 an over. With Jai and Maneesh steering our innings, the total reached to 168 runs with Gurkhas chasing 169 in their 20. Gurkhas started with Prasoon and Raju with a solid start. Raju and Prasoon hit big, defended, theft runs, did everything they could to win the match for their side. Prasoon and Raju’s partnership had our heart in the mouth as they thrashed our bowlers towards each side of the ground. Prasoon fell to an absolute presence of mind of Maneesh. Prasoon was run out for 35 runs in 32 balls. However, the match was not ended yet with Raju in their armoury. In the next over, Raju fell to an absolute brilliance of Rasim at mid-wicket, gifting his wicket to Dipen for 49 runs in 38 balls. After the demise of Raju’s brilliance, no any player seemed to back themselves for the win and Gurkhas surrendered to Strikers by handing the victory by 32 runs. The star fielder for Strikers was Rasim with 2 brilliant catches just on the edge of the boundary rope. For Strikers, Sunam, Dipen, Ashish and Jenish took a wicket each to secure the victory for Strikers. For the brilliant batting of Jai Koirala, he was handed the man of the match for the game. The Strikers now are all set to face the Southern Knights on the 21st of February at Victoria Park at 3:30pm. We would like to thank our sponsors without whom we would have mever existed.
