11.01.2022 We had a amazing time yesterday on the Leeuwin Ocean Adventure Foundation sailing ship in Fremantle. It’s so unique and unlike anything I’ve ever seen before! They have a brilliant volunteer and cadetship program and regularly embark on working sailing trips around our beautiful coast! They’ve got some incredible journeys planned for this summer - if you haven’t checked them out yet, I’d highly recommend it! Thanks so much to Carol, Alf and Michelle for the tour - we can’t wait to be back on board!

11.01.2022 Huge thanks to the incredible volunteers who look after our wildlife! I found an injured and bleeding possum slumped over in my garden and when I approached, she rolled over on her back as if she was a goner! I know they like fruit so I rubbed some peach on her mouth - she started licking it and perked up enough to eat some but it was obvious she was really hurt and urgently needed help. After calling the Perth Wildlife Rescue Network they put me in touch with an incredibl...e volunteer from Kanyana Wildlife Rehabilitation Centre who took her to the vets and is looking after her while she recovers (suspected scrap with another possum and a fall from heights). Thank you Esther! She’s on the mend and will be home this weekend! Im so happy she’s going to be OK and very grateful to the amazing people who dedicate their time so freely to caring for our sick and injured wildlife - thank you so much

03.01.2022 Grants available for businesses and community groups affected by COVID-19 in Mundaring The Shire of Mundaring is offering an unprecedented grant opportunity to help Mundaring recover from COVID-19. If you are a local business or a community group, don’t miss out!!... If you’re a Mundaring business and have been impacted by COVID-19, you are eligible. The application process is easy, quick and the Shire will even help you fill it out. The grants are open until March/June 2021 so plenty of time to apply. As a Mundaring Chamber Of Commerce Committee member, I’ve spoken to many local businesses about the grants.some common questions were: How can I prove that COVID-19 impacted my business? There is no set criteria for demonstrating impacts. To be eligible to apply, you just need to be a business in Mundaring that has experienced an impact from COVID19 that can be defined e.g. lower visitation, less sales, staff cutbacks, reduced opening hours, less training opportunities etc. How can I show that a business grant will have wider community benefit? Having a thriving business community is essential for a flourishing community. A grant to help your business recover and grow contributes towards the wider community benefit. It’s too difficult to fill out all the paperwork The application is short and the Shire are happy to help. They will discuss your project on the phone, review your application before you submit it and even come to your business and help you fill out the application if you want. What about all the paperwork at the end of the grant? You only need to produce a short report detailing how the money was spent and providing receipts for purchases. For larger grants ($10K+) you will need audited financial statements which your accountant can easily provide. It’s OK getting the grant, who’s going to do the work The grants can be used to pay for almost all business expenses including staff wages in some cases. What about insurance requirements? The requirement for $20M public liability is only for activities that include the public. It does not apply for grants that cover other business expenses e.g. training, website, marketing etc. If you’re still unsure, please come along to the free information session hosted by Mundaring Chamber of Commerce on Tuesday 8 September. Bookings are essential as places are limited - to book, click: https://bit.ly/2YWXK1T --------------------------------------------------------------------------------- This is such an incredible opportunity for our community to recover after COVID-19 and it would be great to see as many organisations take advantage of it as possible. I’ve tagged some businesses that I work with or use their services. Please share and tag this post with as many Mundaring businesses and community groups as possible.

02.01.2022 We are very proud to have supported the Kalamunda Mountain Bike Collective with their recent successful grant application to Ken Wyatt through the Hasluck Community Volunteer Grants program. The funds will be used to purchase equipment which will help the many KMBC volunteers to create and maintain mountain bike trials in the Perth Hills. If you haven't heard of the KMBC yet - they are a fantastic organisation putting the Perth Hills on the map for mountain biking - I'd high...ly recommend you check them out! Congratulations to all involved and a big thank you to Ken Wyatt for supporting the KMBC. Kalamunda Chamber of Commerce Mundaring Chamber Of Commerce WestCycle
