25.01.2022 Today we were very excited to be able to harvest our beans from our bean plant. The children were very excited to see that they had grown. This was just in time to celebrate Stephanie Alexander’s 80th. We are very proud to be part of the Stephanie Alexander Kitchen Garden Foundation and have learnt so much about growing a range of vegetables and exploring how to use them with the children. If you have any ideas or recipes please let us know. #garden #homegrown #homegrownveggies #vegtables #vegtablegarden #stephaniealexander #stephaniealexanderkitchengarden #happybirthday

25.01.2022 This week in Problem Solving the children have had the opportunity to use the Bee-Bots to travel to different countries around the world. They enjoyed sharing their family cultures and finding the country on the map. This is a fun learning experience which teaches simple programming controls, directional languages, sequencing, estimations and problem-solving. #preschool #ece #earlyeducation #education #beebot #programming #codeing #earlycoding #preschoolactivities

22.01.2022 Today the children had a group discussion about Remembrance Day and the importance of acknowledging this day every year. They learnt about why the Poppy flowers are so important and how wreaths are placed at memorial places. Every child made a Poppy flower with bottle lids. They then listened to the last post and explained that at 11am they will join all together on the mat to listen to it and remain silent for 1 minute. ... ............................................. They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old; Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn. At the going down of the sun and in the morning. We shall remember them. Lest we forget. #preschool #ece #earlyyearsideas #earlyyearseducation #earlyeducation #education #remembranceday #clovelly

18.01.2022 The children recently have been exploring a topic about All Around The World. We were very lucky to get a special guest appearance from our very own Miss Kelly who also works as an air hostess with Qantas. Miss Kelly hasn't been able to fly lately due to Covid so she came to visit our Everlearn Airport instead. She talked to the children about the important work that she does to keep everyone safe on the plane. The children were excited to hear about all the work that goes on behind the scenes at the airport by the wonderful staff like Kelly. #presshool #ece #earlychildhood #clovelly #qantas #aroundtheworld

15.01.2022 Today in Our World the children had the opportunity to engage in a STEM activity based on Row, row, row your boat. The children were provided with recycled bottles brought in from our families, sticky tape, blue tack, paddle pop sticks, cardboard, scissors and pipe cleaners. They made boats with a variety of materials and then placed them in the trough of water to see if they floated. The children demonstrated great problem solving skills and had to modify parts of the boat if they were sinking. #preschool #ece #earlyeducation #education #stem #stemeducation #stemforkids #stemactivities #handsonlearning #learning #worldnurseryrhymeweek #worldnurseryrhymeweek2020 World Nursery Rhyme Week

13.01.2022 Today the children had the opportunity to explore their very own Everlearn International Airport. The children had so much fun taking on different roles from passport control and baggage handling to being the pilot flying the plane. They engaged in a range of conversation and they even made their own passports to allow them access to the plane. All the children (and teachers!!) said they can’t wait to go on a plane again really soon! #preschoolactivities #preschool #ece #earlyeducation #education #earlyyearseducation #earlychildhoodeducation

09.01.2022 This week the children have had the opportunity to pretend to be Santa. They had to deliver presents (Beanbags) as fast as they could! They had to jump in their sacks to the chimney (tunnel) and then climb down the chimney to deliver their presents! The children got to wear Santa hats and practise their ‘ho ho ho!’ In this activity the children practised crawling and jumping. It took lots of perseverance to jump in the sack as it was a little tricky! #preschool #ece #earlyeducation #education #christmas #santa #grossmotorskills #clovelly #earlyyearseducation

08.01.2022 Today the children had the opportunity to listen to the Dream time story called How the bird got their colours as part of our NAIDOC week celebrations. After reading the book a number of children asked a number of questions about the story. For example, Where did the colours come from? The children were able to answer each other’s questions. In Art and Craft the children were then encouraged to draw a bird with a black marker before painting it with coloured paints. In... Our World they looked at this years National NAIDOC poster and discussed what they could see. The children recognised the Rainbow Serpent and the map of Australia. They incorporated both of these in their own artwork. The children had great fun making their rainbow serpents. They then had the opportunity to play a board game which incorporates Aboriginal symbols and the Serpent Snake. The children took turns rolling the dice and race to the snakes tail. If they landed on an Aboriginal symbol and was able to recognise it they moved an extra space. The activity promoted touch to count, number recognition, identifying symbols and turn taking! #preschool #ece #earlyyearsideas #earlyyearseducation #earlyeducation #education #naidocweek #naidoc #clovelly

04.01.2022 Today the children had the opportunity to do some Japanese exercise outside, called Rajio Taiso, which means Radio Exercise. In Japan, NHK, Japan's public broadcasting company, broadcasts the program from 6:30 am every morning and it lasts for approximately 10 minutes. They said the first broadcast took place in 1928, and the aim was to improve the health of the general public in Japan. Ever since then, this tradition of Rajio (radio in Japanese) Taiso has been incorporated into a lot of Japanese people's morning routines. The children also learnt how to say some Japanese words, like migi ashi (right foot) and hidari ashi(left foot). #preschool #ece #earlyeducation #education #earlychildhoodeducation #earlychildhood #excersise #japan

03.01.2022 This week at Everlearn we are celebrating World Nursery Rhyme Week. Nursery rhymes play an important role in early childhood development and education. As well as being fun they are also excellent teaching tools. They help boost vocabulary and language development and help children to develop literacy skills. They also are an enjoyable way to support early numeracy skills and promote social, physical and emotional skills. Today the children explored the featured Nursery Rhy...me for Wednesday which was ‘Hickory Dickory Dock’. The children then had the opportunity to explore a range of activities. In Problem Solving they practiced their sequencing and number recognition skills by putting the numbers of the clocks in order as they appear in the rhyme. Meanwhile in healthy bodies they played a game inspired by one of their favourites duck duck goose. All the children were mice. One children went around the circle reciting the refrain Hickory dickory dock the mouse ran up the clock. Whoever they landed on when they said clock had to run as fast as they could around the clock chasing the other mouse to see who was the winner. Plus in Yellow group they took turns at identifying the different numbers on the clock. They matched the numbers and coloured pegs to the clock, working on their numbers recognition, colour recognition and fine motor skills. #preschool #ece #earlyyearsideas #earlyeducation #education #nurseryrhymes #worldnurseryrhymeweek #worldnurseryrhymeweek2020 #wnrw2020
