23.01.2022 We know its 2 more sleeps to Christmas, but our babies have been really good and are waiting for Santa.

22.01.2022 HOME INSURANCE AND YOUR SECURITY ALARM SYSTEM Most people have insurance to cover all contents of their homes against theft , fire, accidental damage etc. These days, we call or email some insurance companies to get the best quote, right? The consultant asks us lots of questions, like whats the home constructed from, do you have window locks, deadlocks on doors, smoke sensors, or an alarm system. Seemingly innocuous questions so that you can get a quote. ... HOWEVER, were you aware that if say you YES to any of these questions, you need to use and keep these items in good and serviceable/ working order. Failure to do so, will give the insurance company the perfect way reject your claim and NOT pay you when you have a break-in. So, talking about home alarm systems: if there is an alarm in your home and its not working, or false alarming and you dont use it, or you dont know the PINs, or whatever reason that you dont use it, then maybe its time to get a service tech out to get it working again. Case in point and true story - one of your customers husband had chest pains while at home. The lady put hubby in the car, rushed around, closed the house and raced off to the hospital. She didnt expect to be away from the house for 8 hours. Under her pressure to get to the hospital, she forgot to turn her home alarm system on. Yes, you know where this is going - she had break-in while she was away. She called the police and insurance company to make a claim. The insurance guy came out, saw the alarm system and asked if it was working. She said yes. He asked why didnt it go off when the crooks broke in?. She told him the truth I didnt turn it on. What did the insurance guy do? He ripped the claim form up and basically said, sorry you dont have a claim here because the alarm was not on! If you have a home security alarm system, be sure it is working and use it. If youre not sure how yours is, we can check it out for you. See more

21.01.2022 As you know, i install and service security cctv cameras. But i want to remind residents that cameras dont stop intruders, burglars, etc. Case in point- i fitted a camera system to a business in Redcliffe earlier this year. Last week one of the cameras was ripped off and stolen. Upon reviewing the video, we saw 3 men arriving at the place and shoot up their drugs, right under the camera. Awesome video footage, full faces, clear as crystal! Once they were done, they went ahead and pried the camera off and took it with them. Sure, we gave the video to the cops, but the point is that they didnt care about shooting up and being recorded.

20.01.2022 HOW TO REDUCE FALSE ALARMS FROM YOUR SECURITY ALARM SYSTEM. Most accidental alarm activations are not really "false". There is always a cause for them. One common cause is our little imported mate in the photo - the Indonesian Gecko. These are not native to Australia, Aussie Geckos have a bulbous tail, not a skinny tapered tail. Anyway, what happens is these little critters run over the face of alarm sensors blocking the "heat v...iew" of the sensor. When they move off the lens of the sensor, the heat view is re-instated, but the sensor see it as person, and sets off the alarm. So, what you can do is, spray aerosol surface around your movement sensors, as well as up in behind them. This will stop insects from hiding behind the sensors and also discourage geckos from going there. I have personally used sticky moth traps near sensors to catch geckos. They do work too. See more

20.01.2022 A Security Tip - Single women or ones whose partners are often away or work late hours. Get an old pair of LARGE worn mens work boots and similar sized thongs/ jandals, etc and leave them at the front door of your home. If a "baddie" comes to check out your home and sees these BIG boots, he will hopefully think that BIG muscular guy lives here, and he may twice about breaking in. Would he want to take the risk in confronting a big muscular guy lives there?

19.01.2022 How good is that alarm system? Today I had a call from a client who has been with us for 26 years, yes really,! He uses his alarm system religiously day and night. Around 2 years ago he cancelled the annual system service check as he wanted to save money. Which I get. He said that today, he accidentally set the alarm off and while it sounded, it didnt call his mobile phone. After attending his home and going over the system, it was discovered that the part of the system that sends alarm messages was no longer working. he assured me that he tested it regularly. Regardless, if the system had been connected back to base, we would have known the same day that it stopped working. He has now connected to the central station so that we can professionally service his security needs.

18.01.2022 Business Owners !!! Should you check before fitting new equipment in your business? Last week, we attended one of our customers businesses to carry out a 6 monthly system inspection and service. Since our last service, our client had installed a new data rack in the cupboard where the alarm control panel was fitted. The rack was so big, that it blocked access to the control panel. So much so that we couldnt get to the panel to service it. Our arms arent long enough,... and our head and shoulders wouldnt fit in the gap. You can just make out the the alarm panel on top rear of the rack. The box at the right hand side is another piece of security related equipment. So, sadly our poor customer has to get the rack moved so we can service the system. Not something one would think about when fitting new equipment? See more

17.01.2022 Thinking of a CCTV security camera system for your home? There are lots to choose from you could get a kit from a retail store like Bunnings, or get one thats specially selected to meet your needs and installed by a professional installation company. A kit can give you hi-res cameras but how will you know that theyre right for the job that you want them to do? And whos going to install it and get it working properly? Professional installers have access to a huge ...range of cameras to suit various applications. For example, if you want to look down the side of your house, why would you want to see the fence and wall of the house which will take up over half of the picture? The right camera will only look at whats important, and it will usually give you a bigger image. If you do get some quotes from professionals, beware of cowboys. Be sure to ask to see their Security License. A Queensland Government Licensed Professional is your key to future safety and security. But, back to cameras check this recent release bit of smart technology -the photos here show a camera with a built in high intensity LED and internal voice recording. Imagine if, at night, an intruder was to come into the cameras view. The bright light would startle the guy and the voice recording, which you record, could say . Off, the cops are coming. ( the Mentos is for size comparison) See more

17.01.2022 With the government starting to ease Coronavirus restrictions, and more people getting out, its a good time to check your security alarm and camera systems are working properly. While weve all been stuck at home, break-ins have been fairly low. But now as people leave to start enjoying life, thieves and crims will be out too. To check and test your alarm system is working.... Turn it on as usual, go outside and wait for a couple of minutes and then come back into your home... BUT dont turn it off as you normally do. Walk into a room with an alarm sensor and let the siren sound for 10 seconds before turning off. Listen to the "strength" of the siren sound. The purpose of the sirens is to draw attention to your home and thieves wont stay. If the sound is loud and strong, then you can be fairly sure that the system back up battery is in good condition. If the sound is weak or poor, then you may need to replace the backup battery. All alarm systems take power for the sirens from the battery, not from the power charger thats plugged into the power point. Well do a post on checking your cctv camera system later this week. Stay safe and call us if you have any security issues.

15.01.2022 I had to do an alarm service for one of my customers today in an old Queenslander home The alarm control box was in a high cupboard that never gets opened. Old mate "carpet snake" decided that the cupboard was a great place to call home. Lucky for me he wasnt home when I opened the cupboard. But now i know how long he is.... Almost 2 meters!

15.01.2022 One of the most frustrating things with an home or business security system is false alarms, or more correctly nuisance alarms. They are not really false, as something has triggered the sensor and activated the alarm system. There are many things that can trigger a sensor, but heres something that you can try if you are getting false alarms on your system. Check the back-up battery in the control panel. If the battery is low and the main power... momentarily cuts out with a fluctuation, the sensor can reset and trigger. So, turn OFF the main power to the alarm control panel. Observe if the lights on the code pad dull or go out. If they do, then the battery is too flat to maintain operation of the system when main power is lost, and this is what probably caused you false alarm. Its best to to check the battery and power with a muiti-meter if you have one, but this is a simple test that you can try. Cal us if you are having issues. Stay Safe.. ( the image is a battery that has been over-charged and now flat) See more

15.01.2022 Have you heard that lots more cars are being stolen in the area? We have had 3 phone calls today for quotes to install security camera systems to help protect home owners and deter thieves. One owner was broken into while they were asleep. The crims grabbed their car keys then jumped in the car and took off.... An alarm system in the house could have stopped the crims before the car was stolen. A good camera system could have given police evidence of the crooks. If you are thinking of a camera system, dont just fit cameras outside. Cameras dont stop crims from breaking in, but if you are going to rely on cameras for evidence for police, get as much as you can. When crooks are on the outside of your home, they are only trespassing, have not broken in yet. Put a couple of cameras inside as well so you and the cops can see exactly what is going on. The photo shows the perfect security combination - alarm detector and camera together.

15.01.2022 Do we Really need out side Siren boxes for Alarm Systems any longer? Back in the 1970s when security alarms were relatively new, and back to base monitoring was ONE DOLLAR per day ( thats $1.00), that weekly cost was relatively expensive back then. BTW, back to base monitoring is still only around $1 per Day!!! So, external sirens with flashing strobe lights were fitted so that good neighbours would know that an a...larm was triggered and call police. Times have changed... Most people dont pay attention to an alarm sounding, and police WILL ONLY ATTEND A VERIFIED ALARM ACTIVATION, from now on. As well as this, lots of people are choosing to "self monitor" their alarms on their mobile devices. Not really a reliable security option, but Ill talk about that in another post. So moving forward, IMH Security Professional opinion, there is really not much need for outside siren, but certainly keep the flashing lights. This client has his alarm professionally monitored, so no need for the siren. Id like him to replace the strobe light thought See more

12.01.2022 It was only a "trim". The little heart breakers!

11.01.2022 Things we do for our customers.... Last week we had lots of rain, as we all know. I had a new potential client call and ask me to do a quote for a security camera system. All the rain flooded his house and land. He needed a quote quickly. I had no choice but to remove my shoes and socks, roll up my trousers and paddle around to check out the site. No water snakes, well none that I saw anywhere.

11.01.2022 NBN Alert! We have received a number of enquiries from residents with monitored alarm systems, asking what will happen when the NBN is connected, and the old copper wire land lines are redundant. The short answer is that the alarm will no longer be able to send any alarm and system signals. IF your alarm is monitored, the most common solution is the addition of a GPRS unit fitted and programmed to the alarm system. They work similar to a mobile phone to provide communi...cation via 3G/4G network, but only transmit alarm system data. Just on the subject of alarm monitoring, if you self-monitor your alarm, and receive an alarm sent to your phone, the police will not come out unless it is a verified alarm. New rules came into effect in August. The best way for monitoring is to connect to an Approved Central Monitoring station. They will look after and action all events and on your system so that you dont come home to an unknown situation. Talk to us about professional monitoring. See more

07.01.2022 Repairing a new customers alarm system this week. The remote controls had stopped working. After much searching, we discovered that the controller receiving unit was in the ceiling space. A really dumb idea! The original installer ( no longer in business) may have thought that locating it there would give the owners better signal range with the remote control key fobs. Well a couple of problems there... 1 - Its in the ceiling, so if a crook breaks into the house via the... roof, he gets free access to the equipment to disable it or short circuit the whole alarm system. 2- How professional was that job done? 3- What about water or moisture in the ceiling space corroding the circuitry? Guess what the fault was? Give up? Corroded circuit board due to moisture in the receiver unit. New receiver and required, but they dont make that model any longer, so ended up a lot more that expected. Long story, but all good now. Happy customers, again See more

07.01.2022 HOW RELIABLE ARE OLDER ALARM SYSTEMS? Last week, one of our clients called up. He has had his security alarm system installed for over 15 years, and its been working well. He was doing renovations to his offices and wanted to move the alarm control panel about 6 metres to a different wall in office. A fairly straight forward job. Essentially, we had to disconnect all the wires, lable and tag them, add extra length to each wire, and remove the main alarm box, then prepos...ition the box to the new wall, bring all the wires into the box, reconnect the wires, turn the power back on, and all done! In theory pretty straight forward. In practice, NOT ALWAYS! When we turned the power back on, the system didnt do anything. It was dead. Damn, what the? So why? What went wrong? What often happens with older electronics is that they work fine until they are turned off and then back on again. Have you ever disconnected your TV when you moved house and found it didnt work when you turned it on again? Or turned an appliance off a when you go to bed, and it wont work next day? Same here. Specially older electronics, dont seem to like a the power surge when turned on again, once they have been off. So it looked like we would have to replace his system FREE of charge as it happened under our watch. Fortunately, it was just the power side of the controller that was not working. We added a separate power module to the system and crisis averted. LESSON LEARNED advise all clients of possible side effects service to older systems. POSITIVE OUTCOME Best time to look upgrading to current technology with all the advantages to make life easier. See more

06.01.2022 We did an upgrade on a client today who has had his alarm system installed by me over 20 years ago. The system is working fine, except that NBN was connected yesterday, so his system could no longer send alarms and system data to the central monitoring station as the required land line was now defunct. We fitted a Direct Wireless device with double SIM cards for added security. Its now sending data to the station again. The new device is much higher security as the base station checks back with the system every 30 minutes. Check the control panel. We clearly install reliable equipment

05.01.2022 what size mega pixel camera should I have for my home security CCTV system? Do more mega pixels give better pictures? Check this post and get a better idea of what could suit you... https://eversafesecurity.com.au/2mp-cameras-dont-give-good/

04.01.2022 Worth a giggle!

03.01.2022 Thank you ... to all who liked our page. We appreciate the support as we crank up our favourite business.

02.01.2022 We had a new client respond to our special promotional service check offer last week. He had just moved into an existing home that had an alarm system, but it was switched OFF! He didnt know if it worked, or if it could be refreshed. So we did our magic for him. Re-adjusted the motion sensors, tested them for detection, replaced the back up battery, and even re-programmed the system the system so that he could turn the downstairs areas on when he goes to bed. AND dont forget the PIN numbers - we even changed those for him too. Not secure to have the old owners PINS in the system. IT took longer than we expected, but we have given another customer Peace of Mind. Thanks M.

01.01.2022 APARTMENT & TOWNHOUSE DWELLERS Portable security for you! One of our suppliers held a brief demo morning on one of his security products today an alarm system and camera system integrated in one package. And its all wireless, cloud based and has a great PC/Tablet/Phone app so you can know whats going on at home, at anytime. Todays security conscious buyers love to self- manage their alarms and camera systems on their smart phones. This system will still allow you t...o do that, but it can also send alarm and status data to a professional monitored control room so that action can be initiated for you. Being wireless, this system can be installed in apartments, townhouses, homes or offices where installation of alarm cables is not possible. And it can easily be moved to your next home when you move. Like all systems, they should be tailored to your individual requirements and lifestyle, not preset kit. See more
