25.01.2022 I miss you when youre far away. Id love to see you every day. But since I cant come over to play. Im sending you a hug today!... We understand that these times are challenging for all involved. Some of the children have been talking about their friends they are not able to see. Our teachers and children worked together to make their hugs visible, so we are sending these to everyone in our community that may need a hug.
24.01.2022 At Everton Park Child Care and Development Centre we are extremely proud of the wonderful natural outdoor environments we use each day in all weather situations... (unless unsafe to do so). Having a large natural space plays an integral part in all of our educational programs and is of such benefit to the children however it takes commitment to ensure it remains at the high standard we want it to be. Last year was a very dry year and with little rainfall our natural grass areas and gardens had really suffered. As the weather is warming up and early predictions are looking promising for more rain this year we decided we needed to put some work in to these areas. We believe that the children should be welcome to participate in all maintenance and work at the centre when it is safe to do so. This opens up opportunities for new and exciting learning experiences. As we worked to prepare the grass areas for fresh turf we had many discussions about sustainability, weather patterns and care for natural spaces. The children loved helping prepare the area and watching as we laid the new turf and the outdoor environments are back to looking wonderfully green and inviting once again! The children will continue to care for these areas by watering, resting and mowing them so they remain healthy and green play and exploration spaces for years to come. See more

16.01.2022 It has been quite a long time since our last post on the public Facebook page, but this year has thrown up many challenges for people all around the world. Alth...ough there has been plenty of challenges and uncertainty in our daily lives we have worked very hard to keep Everton Park Child Care and Development Centre the same magical place for the children and free from the stresses of the world around them. Our last few months have been full of amazing new learning journeys throughout our wonderful outdoor environment. We have made some new discoveries in our ever evolving gardens and watched our new native plants bloom for the first time, we continued our sustainability and gardening programs with the children growing some impressive crops for the kitchen, we made many new adventurous physical play challenges that the children mastered in no time and we had LOTS of fun while we learned through nature! Hopefully we will continue to return to a new normal and we will more regular updates on all the fantastic experiences and developments happening with the children here through the rest of the year. 13.01.2022 Everton Park Child Care and Development Centre Acknowledge the Turrbal People as the traditional custodians of this land, and recognise their continuing connection to land, waters and culture. The beautiful ancestral homelands of the Turrbal people stretch from the North Pine River south to the Logan River and inland as far as Moggill. The earliest historical records suggest that Brisbane was well inhabited by the Turrbal people. In fact, this dense inhabitation was one of t...he many reasons, which attracted the early settlers to Meeaan-jin (Turrbal name for Brisbane) following their initial abortive settlement at Humpybong (Redcliffe) in 1824. The various pathways (Aboriginal tracks) that had existed since the Dreamtime were later to form the basis of road infrastructures around Brisbane today. Examples of these include Waterworks Road and the Old Northern Road. Waterworks Road for example was built on a Turrbal pathway that led Mount Coot-tha a place of the honey-bee Dreaming. The Old Northern Road was the pathway that led to triennial Bunya feast in Wakka Wakka country. Toowong had a ceremony ring upon which a pub (The Regatta Hotel) is believed to be standing today. http://dakibudtcha.com.au/Turrbal/index.php/history/ See more
13.01.2022 Nathan Wallis shares some very good ideas to assist with your young childrens anxiety during these challenging times.
12.01.2022 Happy new year to our extended Everton Park Childcare and Development Centre community! We are very excited to start a new year at the centre and welcome many n...ew families, children and even a few new teachers to our amazing community. Every new year brings us new opportunities to grow and develop as a centre alongside the children and continue to evolve to suit the individual needs of each of our students. At EPCCDC we believe that for a child to explore and learn to their full potential they need to be in a collaborative environment where they feel they belong and are safe and supported. For this reason, our number one priority at the beginning of each year is to build relationships with both the children and their families, these relationships form the foundations for a holistic, collaborative and flexible learning program which will see some amazing results. We look forward to the year being filled with exciting, fun, authentic and meaningful learning experiences! See more
12.01.2022 Late last year, Everton Park Child Care and Development Centre ran a fundraising initiative to deliver hay to drought affected farmers. We documented our journey to share with the children and our extended community.
12.01.2022 How good is rainy weather! Over the last couple of months we have had some much needed rain at Everton Park Child Care and Development Centre. For some this wou...ld mean boring days trapped inside the classrooms but for us this has made for so much fun and amazing new learning opportunities. We are proud to be an all weather play centre, meaning that we utilize our outdoor environments in all weather unless it is unsafe to do so. The children LOVE rainy days and come to the centre dressed ready to splash in puddles, cover themselves and their friends in mud and dance in the rain. Playing in the rain not only offers so much joy for the children but a multitude of learning opportunity, sensory, mathematical, science, engineering, risk taking and learning about their natural world are regular outcomes on these days! Following all the rain we have also noticed exciting new learning opportunities that the children are exploring. Prior to this rain we have had a prolonged period of very dry weather with large parts of Australia suffering severe drought. Since the rain our outdoor environments have burst into life! All the plants are growing and looking wonderful and many animals have returned in large numbers to all the gardens and green spaces throughout the centre. The children have been very quick to notice all these changes and have spent many hours observing and studying all the different creatures. Spending all this time in the natural environment promotes a respect and love for nature and thirst for knowledge that will last long into these childrens lives, this is why we are such strong advocates for giving children unstructured play where they are free to engage and explore their interests. 11.01.2022 During NAIDOC week celebrations the Kindy children worked with Miss Nat to update the top of our meal servery in our outdoor café. The artwork is a celebration of the children’s learning during their time here at Everton Park Child Care and Development Centre. This journey is even more significant as they children are about to leave the centre and move on to school to continue their learning journey. The art piece incorporates some of the components of Aboriginal art and s...ymbolism that we have explored extensively during the children’s time here. The very center of this art piece is an Aboriginal symbol for meeting place, surrounded by Aboriginal symbols for children learning. This represents our centre and the place where we meet as a community to learn every day. The paths running from the corners of the tabletop to the center is an Aboriginal symbol for long journey and is again surrounded by children learning. This is symbolic of us all: children, families and educators being lifelong learners. You will notice that there are footprints coming into the meeting place as well as moving on. This is a celebration of all of the learning that has already occurred in the past; that every person who is a part of our centre community brings with them their own unique set of knowledge and skills to be shared. The footsteps then lead away as each person moves forward in life and continues their learning journey. The leaves are to symbolize our centre philosophy of learning from nature a philosophy we hope each member of our community will continue to embrace as they move forwards. See more

07.01.2022 We would like to thank all our families and members of the community that came along to our Annual Art exhibition on Saturday. We had a wonderful afternoon and saw hundreds of adults and children socialising together in a relaxed and happy environment. For this event every child creates their own individual art piece and each room creates a combined piece of art. The combined pieces are auctioned on the day. Auctioning our group pieces brought a great amount of excitemen...t on Saturday and we saw the group pieces find their permanent homes. Thank you to all our families for placing your bids and congratulations to those who secured these amazing masterpieces. We are sure you will enjoy these for many years to come. The childrens interests are explored and discussed using a variety of techniques and then using chosen mediums the masterpieces take shape. This year we saw flower pounding, water colour painting, collage, mosaic, felting, clay modelling as well as photography. The end results were inspirational. We are so proud of all our children and the educators for ensuring 2019s Art Exhibition has been another huge success. Thank you to all of you that came along and to all our generous sponsors for your donations for our raffle prizes. This years funds have been raised to upgrade our outdoor furniture. See more
