25.01.2022 Well it looks like its my turn! (This is me in my home office with Spence the Spaniel) I'm Michelle, one of the Speech Pathologists on the team. You may have also spoken to me as I also help out in Admin. My path to becoming a Speechie was a little different. After 20 years of working in the Dental industry, I decided I might have a big career change, so I went back to Uni to study Speech Pathology at the tender age of 39 (Some may call it a midlife crisis!!). I graduated fr...om James Cook University in Townsville just over 8 years ago. While in Townsville, I worked for Queensland Health in Paediatric Community Health - mainly with Indigenous children in the region. I then went on to work in a Private Practice in Townsville. My husband and I moved to Brisbane in 2014 where I worked for AEIOU (ASD Early Intervention Program), then onto Private practice - where I am today!!! I have two amazing sons - 26 and 24 (Men now) who both still live in Townsville - one followed me into health and is a Physiotherapist and the other one is a Pest Technician (Flick Man). I too have recently acquired a new family member - Spence the Spaniel - who failed at being a therapy dog due to his lack of social skills but we love him to bits anyway (He is a bit hard to see in the photo). We have all been on a big learning curve lately at Everton Therapy with the COVID 19 issues but I have found that I have really enjoyed the challenge - Who says you can't teach an old dog new tricks!!! We are really working hard to make sure that our services are still available to anyone that needs us and we have put plans into place to have a smooth transition back to the NEW normal as soon as we are able. Onward and upward as they say!!! See more

23.01.2022 Hello! My name is Cathy and I joined Everton Therapy as a speechie last year. I graduated from Trinity College Dublin in 2009. I moved to London straight away to find work and adventure, and was lucky enough to get a job at Moorhouse School - a specialised school for children with Developmental Language Disorder. I also met my now husband there. I came over here to his home in Brisbane on a holiday and never went home. I got a job at Speech and Language Development Australia where I worked in a few different roles over the next 7 years, learning so much from everyone I worked with. After a little break to have two children, I joined Everton. We have such a great team of therapists and I really enjoy working with our families.

22.01.2022 Hello! My name is Jess and I’m one of the Speech Pathologists here at Everton Therapy. This is my new home office, complete with my lovely buddies, that I had the fun of moving into while doing Telehealth. I started my journey to Speech Pathology up in Townsville at James Cook University following a few years behind Michelle, our Senior Speechie. I moved to Brisbane shortly after I graduated and started working for Everton Therapy part time back in 2017. I was lucky enough to fall into a job that I loved and not long after, I moved over full time to our team. This adventure into telehealth has been interesting, though I have loved getting to meet some of my families that I normally only get to call or email. I look forward to getting back to business as usual and working with all my families again.

15.01.2022 Hi everyone! I'm Miranda, one of the Speech Pathologists here at Everton Therapy. I joined the wonderful Everton Therapy team in early 2019, and currently work 3 and a half days a week. Lots of you would've met my naughty pooch James (pictured here with me in his winter attire) during our Zoom sessions, or at least heard him bark during a session - oops! He's been my buddy during my time delivering sessions from home. I've enjoyed my Zoom sessions over the last few months..., which have been a huge learning curve for all involved. Its been amazing to see how well our families have managed to adapt to the challenges of Telehealth or delivering home programs themselves. Pats on the back to all! As much as I've enjoyed delivering sessions from home via Telehealth, I won't lie - I'm very excited to be heading back to the clinic and to schools and getting to see my families face to face again! I can't wait! I may even be excited about playing Pop-up-Pirate and Slapzi again See more

15.01.2022 Hi Everyone! Just a quick update...we are all working hard to get our Telehealth sessions to run smoothly and both therapists and clients are having some great sessions!!! Some of us are still holding sessions at the clinic and attending the schools that are allowing us to do so, some of us have gone completely Telehealth........ It is currently up to the individual therapists situation on how they wish to work at the moment. We are following the government recommendation lead at this stage. Social distancing is paramount in all our situations. However, moving forward, in the pipeline at the moment, we are thinking on how to increase our online options to include group sessions - e.g. lego group/lunch time group. We are hoping that these options may help bring some fun into the possible future lockdown/isolation days. If this is an option you may be interested in, send us a PM! We also want to let you know that we will be using FB to pass on any changes we need to tell you in the future. Lastly, we want to say a very big THANK YOU to our amazing families for taking on the changes we have made, we are humbled by the response and feedback we have received. As a small business, this means a great deal... Take care everyone - will see you online soon!!! The Everton Therapy Team

13.01.2022 COVID 19 Therapy Option Update Dear families During these uncertain times we are aware that our clients need to continue with therapy, so we have made the decision to swap over to Telehealth therapy options from Monday, next week. However, there will be changes to therapists attending school/daycare and home visits this week. ... Allied health services are considered an essential service so while we have the potential to provide clinic options at the moment we will continue to do so (as long as we can, hopefully into next week as well) - however we will continue to monitor, review and keep you updated of any changes. Unfortunately we are anticipating changes. Your therapist will contact you individually throughout the next couple of days, letting you know of the changes in accordance to the advice they have received from your child’s school/centre and your Therapists individual decision. If your child’s school/daycare or home visits are suspended, we may have alternative options for clinic visits. Your therapist will be able to advise you on these options if available. As a small business, by continuing to be able to provide services in this manner, it will allow our Therapists and business to remain viable during this time and resume bigger and better once this passes. We will be in contact with you individually to discuss how this could look for your child’s therapy. From there, if you wish to proceed with Telehealth, we will be organising the set up. Please do not hesitate to contact us if you need any further information regarding this change. Kind regards The Everton Therapy Team

09.01.2022 Hi everyone ! My name is Fiona and I am an Occupational Therapist at Everton Therapy. This is my home office with my dog Tilly. I have enjoyed seeing many of you through Telehealth but now really looking forward to being back in the clinic and seeing you all face to face again. I have worked at Everton Therapy since 2014 and have loved working with so many children and their families to achieve their goals. I love having fun whilst working with kids and always remind them that practice makes progress.
