I'd also like to thank everyone that took part. It was great to see so many people get involved and take time to care for their mental health. ... Here's to staying focused and successfully navigating the times together

21.01.2022 It’s been one hell of a year. We’ve all hustled to get through it. While we obviously advocate staying in good shape, fit and healthy. If ever there was a time to relax a little, it’s Christmas. Enjoy the food, the time off work, a few drinks on week nights, quality time with friends and family instead of workouts. Discipline is not depriving yourself of less-healthy pleasures all the time. True discipline is having the freedom to enjoy these things when you want, but switching back into a fitter frame of mind when it’s time.

18.01.2022 Some promising stats coming out of NSW.

17.01.2022 A walk down the Everyday Athletes 2020 memory lane.. While it has been one of the most challenging years for our community, as I reflect I can't help but smile. Looking through these photos, it remind me of what we all did to keep active, stay on top of our health, help each other out and keep Everyday Athletes afloat.... The 'never say die' attitude of all the Everyday Athletes was inspiring and something I'm proud to be a part of. Zoom workouts, outdoor PT in the rain, the t-shirt tan I got from doing outdoor PT in the sun, the freezing cold mornings running zoom workouts in my garage, waiting for Dan Andrews announcements on Sundays, working til the wee hours with Dani planning how to run our programs abiding by the latest rules... While they sucked at the time, I will look back at these as the fondest memories. To everyone that was apart of the journey in 2020, THANK YOU. What a challenging but rewarding year it has been. Be proud of yourself and the resilience you have shown. Bring on 2021

16.01.2022 I want to give a shout out to all of you that are embracing the changes we are living through like CHAMPIONS! I've seen people that hate running take it up while in lockdown. I've seen people that have previously said "online training isn't for me" start doing online classes regularly.... I've seen people that haven't felt confident to do strength training in the gym, use this opportunity to start learning the skills at home via our online classes. The situation we're in sucks. There's no sugar-coating it but we're in it, so there's no point wishing for what was. Fact is, we're going to be here for a while so the options are to kick stones or embrace the change and find our way forward.

15.01.2022 With Melbourne dishing up some nicer weather lately I thought to remind you that you are not limited to doing workouts in your home. If you have a decent data allowance, you can take your phone, laptop or tablet to the park and do the workouts outdoors. If you're feeling a bit of cabin fever, then get out to your local park for your next workout... Just a tip, the first time you do it head down 10mins early to find yourself a good spot and get set up

14.01.2022 Everyday Athletes Run for Mental Health and Christmas Party - THIS SATURDAY Incase you've missed it, here's the important deets for both events... Run for Mental Health ... Christmas Party - Location is Rocket Park, Hawthorn. Starting at 1pm. Thankfully, it looks like we're going to get some cracking weather for day. Can. Not. 13.01.2022 The importance of tapering your running 7 days before the event If you’ve been training hard in preparation for the Run for Mental Health, remember to back off your training intensity for the 7 days prior to the run. If you’ve put in the work, you’ll be conditioned and ready for the day. You’ll also be carrying some mental and physical fatigue. It’s a natural by-product of training hard.... By tapering your training over the next 7 days you will give your body and mind the chance to recovery and rejuvenate so that you can run to your fullest potential on race day. You should get to the end of next week feeling like you’ve got so much energy in the tank that you’re chomping at the bit to hit to course!

10.01.2022 The actions you take today will determine if you get there. - Train consistently, - Eat less energy than you expend, - Enjoy the journey, don't fixate on the end result.

10.01.2022 Helens Story... I’m a high energy person and pre-COVID I would do a lot of incidental exercise walking everywhere and having a pretty busy life. It was obvious to me early into COVID that I'd need to get rid of my energy somehow or I’d drive myself and Chris (my partner) insane. I adore the community vibe we have at the Everyday Athletes. I look forward to seeing the crew each morning and love when I bump into someone on a lunch time walk. Going to the classes is a real hig...hlight in my day so I was very keen to stay connected with the crew. During COVID, I have stuck to a consistent training plan that includes... - An online Strength & Conditioning class Monday to Wednesday mornings. - A lunchtime activity - usually a walk, run or workout in the park with a friend. - Making sure I complete 10,000 steps or more a day. Things were going great until Chris tested positive to COVID-19. He had to quarantine in a hotel and I had to quarantine in our apartment. Being alone and unable to leave the apartment for 2-weeks was tough, but not as tough as I expected. I stuck to my online classes and did what I could around the apartment to keep myself active and sane. I’m proud to say that despite COVID and quarantine, I’m feeling fitter and healthier than ever. I was showing my friend how high waisted a new pair of trackie pants were and she said, 'Helen you have abs!'. I have to admit it felt pretty bloody great to have someone notice all the hard work and to have the beginnings of abs :) My tip is to strike a good balance between work, exercise and fun. Having a good balance means I can give 100% to all three activities when I’m doing them. Helen Malley, EA member since Sep 2017

09.01.2022 We completed our first virtual fun run on Saturday. Despite the challenges we’re all facing at the moment, it was a top start to the weekend. Loved it! Shout out to everyone that took part and congrats to Katy for taking out the post-run trivia master crown.... Look forward to the next run gang. Stay tuned, we’ll organise one soon. Hopefully by that time we can do it in person #everydayathletes #strength #fitness #lift #hiit #gym #hawthorn #hawthorneast #auburnvillage #instafit #fitnessmotivation #fitlife #fitspiration #everydaypeople #livewell

09.01.2022 Output = Anything that requires energy, focus and attention (training, your career/work). Input = Anything that helps you alleviate physical and mental stress (sleep, relaxation, massage, foam rolling and muscle release, yoga, good nutrition). If you're training harder and more often in prep for our Run for Mental Health or to get the body 'summer ready', you've increased your output.... If you want to maintain a higher level of output, you need to increase your input too. This will help you recover physically and mentally, preventing mental fatigue/burnout and injuries.

08.01.2022 Nat's story... When I first started at Everyday Athletes I was coming off a shoulder reconstruction and wanted to get back into football. This meant strengthening my shoulder, increasing my fitness, and doing everything in my power to ensure that my shoulder could withstand anything footy threw at it. Since starting, I have learnt true, lasting progress does not happen overnight. It takes time and patience to achieve lasting results, and by sticking with a routine I can achi...eve what I have set out to. So far my biggest achievements have been - I ran 5km for the first time in years and actually felt I could have kept going. - My shoulder is stronger than ever, I can do multiple pushups and smashed my PB deadlift. - However, my biggest achievement is having movement back in my shoulder which I never thought I could achieve after my surgery. It hasn’t all been easy though. I find the biggest challenge is eating right, I love my sweets a lot. With the right attitude though I have managed to get my eating on track, it is still not perfect however it is miles ahead of what it was like before. The turning point came when was when I was busting my guts in the gym but wasn't seeing the results I wanted, at that point I knew that if I wanted to see maximum return on my effort, I needed to take a more serious approach to my diet. Planning meals has helped with this, and not buying junk food and having it in the house. If it is not there and I don't have easy access to it I am less inclined to eat it. Buying more fresh fruit and vegetables, means I’m more inclined to eat them instead. Having a sweet tooth, I still will indulge but not on the scale I was doing before. I've found that by not having it as much, the cravings for it aren't as intense. If I could give one tip to anyone it would be the importance of setting up a sustainable training routine. For myself, having an established training routine is essential and the online classes have been able to facilitate this while we’ve been in lockdown. It is also great to see everyone, albeit online, and still have that sense of community and togetherness. Natalie Zapparoni, EA member since July ’19

08.01.2022 Hellooo from the Gold Coast! Dani and I, with the help of our local guide (Danis brother), got to check out some epic scenery in the Hinterland. Loved it!

06.01.2022 Based on your feedback, we've added lunchtime classes Monday - Friday as of next week. The plan is to run these for the duration of lockdown but we'll monitor attendance. The classes are available for booking via Mindbody now!

05.01.2022 Thanks for the recent feedback gang. We've added a lunch time HIIT and Strength & Conditioning class to the schedule on Tuesday's and Thursday's. The new class times are,... - HIIT at 12pm - Strength & Conditioning at 12:45pm They are available to book into via Mindbody now. The lunch time classes will be trialed for the next 3 weeks. If they are being consistently utilised by 4 or more people we'll continue them for longer.

05.01.2022 Group Class Program Update Firstly, I just want to say a huge THANK YOU to everyone coming back into the gym last week. Everyone did a great job of adhering to the COVID-safe protocols. Because of it, I'm confident we can increase class capacity when we are allowed to without compromising your safety and our ability to run a COVID-safe gym. As of Nov 23, the Victorian government has increased gym capacities to 20 people per space. We are going to start out a little more conse...rvative and keep it to 16 people in the space or 8 in both the HIIT/Fitness and Strength & Conditioning classes. Assuming things continue to run safely, we will consider increasing to 10 people per class in the future. We will not increase class sizes any more than that even if it's allowed. A few notes on the timetable from next week and Mindbody... - Group class capacity will be 8 people per class in the morning and afternoon classes. They will 4 people per class at the lunchtime classes. - There will no longer be 1pm classes. - Mindbody is playing up for several people. It is saying "we looked but we didn't find any classes on this day". We run classes Monday to Saturday so if it says that on one of those days, it is playing up for you too. Try logging out and then back in. If that does not work, you can check back later or email us the class and we'll book you in. I apologise for the inconvenience, I've contacted Mindbody about fixing the glitch with the app. As always, if you have any questions or could use a hand with your health and fitness please reach out to us! #everydayathletes #strength #fitness #lift #hiit #gym #hawthorn #hawthorneast #auburnvillage #instafit #fitnessmotivation #fitlife #fitspiration #everydaypeople #livewell

04.01.2022 Two important things that I think we’re all missing right now are getting outdoors, and connecting with friends and loved ones. There’s something about being in lockdown that rattles you mentally, and not being able to spend quality time with those we care about just plain sucks! So, we have a plan to help you get outdoors and connect with friends/family once restrictions start to ease (and, thankfully, it doesn’t involve Zoom!).... From September 28, we can (hopefully) restart outdoor PT with up to two clients per trainer so we are welcoming our 1-1 PT clients to bring someone to their sessions. You can bring the same person consistently and we’ll write them a program based on their fitness level and goals to do alongside you. Or, you can bring a different person each time - someone who wants to get outdoors, enjoy some social time and a do a good workout with you. Parents, you can even bring your kids! If there’s anyone that would like to buddy-up with another member of the EA crew and split the cost, let me know and I’ll try to find you a buddy. Anyone interested in starting PT sessions and taking advantage of this opportunity, please get in touch by leaving a comment below or via email at [email protected]

04.01.2022 Do something productive and join us for the first Everyday Athletes Virtual Fun Run this Saturday. All you need to do is, - Download the app Strava (or another run tracking app).... - Use the link below on the day to join us for a pre-run warm up and post-run celebratory glass of bubbles. https://us02web.zoom.us/j/83965526730 The run times are, - 1/2 marathon at 10am - 10km at 10:30am - 5km at 10:50am Join via the link 10mins prior to your run start time so we can do a warm up. If you would like to join and have any questions, leave them in the comments below.

03.01.2022 Action shot from Strength & Conditioning earlier in the week While it was great to be able to keep the crew active via outdoor and online programs during lockdown, it’s amazing to have you back working with barbells. There’s been some stiff and sore bodies as we recondition to the rigours of in-gym training, but I’m loving the progress.... Keep up da hustle

02.01.2022 Wouldn't that be nice Wishing all the crew a Merry Christmas! Enjoy the feast, the festivities and quality time with friends and family.

02.01.2022 31-Days of August Exercise Challenge starts TOMORROW. The daily exercise challenge will be posted right here so stay tuned. Don't be shy to share your experiences throughout the challenge on the posts or in the members group on Facebook. While we may not be able to share the gym, we can connect by sharing our experiences and your comments, likes, shares and stories help us spread the EA message. ... Let the challenge begin!!!

01.01.2022 Big shout out to our boy @harrisongoad for taking out this season footy tipping competition. $200, an EA jumper and most importantly, bragging rights for the next 6 months are all yours. Honourable mentions to @samatkins_ and @scotty_lev10 for coming in second and third. Thanks to everyone involved in the comp this year. The banter makes a footy season even better! I look forward to next year.... where I'm a shoe-in to finally win
