25.01.2022 RESCUE BASKETS - Hi Fellow Rehabilitators. Both the suppliers of the plastic rescue baskets have told me they have a container coming into Australia today with the baskets. So next week I should have a delivery date and specifications.

24.01.2022 I have just had one of those mornings which make me wonder why I left my previous career. Being called in to save a multimillion dollar project which is way over time and budget is a piece of cake compared with this morning. Admittedly I was up late but only by 10 minutes. My oldest two were, unusually, up and, not so unusually, having an argument and creating havoc in their room. I thought I'd better feed them first before world war three erupted. Things went down hill f...rom there. The newest arrival had made a complete mess in her bed - through all layers and needed a bath and a complete change and did it again as I carried her back from the bath - requiring a second bath. Some-one's favourite "cup" was worn out so there was a temper tantrum over using a new one and the eldest one kept jumping on the coffee table (with the container of boiling water for bottle heating) while I tried to deal with the cup issue. And all the time I am getting more and more stressed over the babies who should have been fed first and were getting more and more delayed. All of this before 7 in the morning. The fact that all of them have fur (even the babies) and a tail and the "cup" was a new teat doesn't make it any easier. Tell me again why I left my nice peaceful career????? See more

21.01.2022 My stocktaking assistant - who will be known as MSA to protect the guilty was back on deck yesterday and so was Binda. After we had to count the foldup shopping bags three times MSA tucked Binda inside her jacket. It was so funny. Poor MSA (who is a senior macropod carer herself) was trying to record numbers while Binda nipped anywhere she could reach, tried to steal the pen and chewed off the corner of the stocklist. MSA was reduced to calling her demon spawn of hell but then forgave her and picked her bottlebrush. Binda loved the dried up knobs from last year's flowers (I'm sure some-one will tell me the technical term for these).

21.01.2022 I'm quite certain that when I was doing my post grad study in management no-one mentioned swamp wallaby joeys as one of the difficulties of stock management. Yesterday she tried to eat the stock list printout. Has a thing for paper. Last week I discovered that she was systematically eating a telephone bill (a couple of bites every time she went past). It was sticking out of the filing drawer unnoticed. I just hope I don't get audited by the tax department. I really can't see myself trying to explain that one to an auditor!

20.01.2022 Have you seen our wallaby set? They are very elegant - click on http://www.everythingwildlife.com.au//Wallaby-Set-of-3--%2. I must say, however, that none of my darlings have ever posed so calmly. Although the one on the right reminds me of my current swamp wallaby girl when she is trying to see if she can reach somewhere she shouldn't!

19.01.2022 Stocktaking has thrown up some nice surprises and we have replaced some stock. One of my favourites is the set of wine glass identifier rings. I always lose my wine glass at my own parties so I love these rings. Sadly they don't include a flying-fox. Of course most of the guests at my parties would want a flying-fox on their glass which would rather defeat the purpose. http://www.everythingwildlife.com.au//Wine-Glass-Marker-1.

19.01.2022 Hi Everyone, Apologies for ignoring everyone. I was supposed to tell you that we have some charms back on the site such as the cute lizard http://www.everythingwildlife.com.au//Charm-%28SS%29-%252d but the week was rather taken up as rescuer and then chauffeur to Premier followed by round the clock feeding of 2 little glider babies (12g each). Premier is now up at the Port Macquarie Koala Hospital with a broken arm and a broken leg. And the little gliders are putting on weight and growing fur.

17.01.2022 Well my eldest two have moved on (to their release site) and are creating havoc for another rehabilitator. I now have two grey joeys and my gliders are doing well. Spring rescues are beginning to escalate. All of which is a long winded excuse for why I haven't been chatting! Would you like to see a photo of our beautiful pewter wombat keyring - http://www.everythingwildlife.com.au//Keyring-%252d-Wombat or of MyndeeRoo the current cause of excessive pouch washing? Well ...I know the answer but this is a business! And I thought of the keyring because one of the time consumers was the rescue of a baby wombat. His mother was hit by a car and her spine was fractured. We sat together on the clinic floor for nearly an hour. The vets were extremely busy and had very kindly given us a quiet consult room in which to wait. I knew she was female but there wasn't a bulge and her pouch was open (in the brief look I had taken) and she was small so I didn't think she would have a baby and I didn't hassle her to check more thoroughly. When the vet came in to euthanise we rolled her over and checked the pouch. Tiny baby! And he wasn't coming out. As soon as the mother was unconscious we cut the pouch to remove him. I could immediately see he would be lucky to be 200g (166g it turned out) and the only person capable of giving such a small baby what slight chance he would have was the Wombat Coordinator nearly an hour away. Frantic phone call and panic drive to meet her followed. He is still hanging on and his name is Chester. He can take as many best wishes as you have to give him. Have to go - MyndeeRoo has just arrived to tell me that her pouch is wet (the clean dry one she has had for 2 hours) and could she have another one please? See more

17.01.2022 Finally we can let you all know... we have our shipment of plastic rescue baskets in as of today.. if you are interested please inbox here as we are having problems with our website and we can arrange purchase for you.. thank you all for your patience in the long wait...

15.01.2022 We have made a good start to the stocktaking today - one less Christmas bag than when we started (unless someone wants one with a "genuine wallaby chewed" handle). I thought she was being very quiet! Then there was the crash as I was updating the spreadsheet and suddenly - no mouse! She had pulled out the dongle for the wireless mouse on the back of the PC. It isn't raining today and she is about to be banished outside.

14.01.2022 We are stock taking. I'm on my own today - well sort of. To all those parents out there with kids home from school, drinking red cordial and cooped up inside due to the rain: you have my sympathy! My "kid" may only weigh 2.3kg and have 4 paws and a tail but she has definitely been into the wallaby equivalent of red cordial and she doesn't like the rain (despite being a swamp wallaby) and in any case there are interesting things going on. The whole day has been a litany of... "BINDA! (short for Belinda) get off the desk, don't sit on the keyboard, stop chewing the mouse, get off that box, keep away from ...." and so on. And then she puts her little paws on the clipboard (causing the pen to scrawl across the page) and peers at me over the edge with bright brown eyes and I forgive her anything. Even her attempt to land in the big jewellery box (caught in mid air before she landed). See more

13.01.2022 We have now sold out of plastic rescue baskets and will be unable to source any more for the near future.. as soon as we hear from suppliers we will let you all know.. thanks for your support.. but please have a look at all the other great things we have available both for rehabbing and gifts for that special occasion..

13.01.2022 We seem to be experiencing problems with our online orders.. if you have tried to order through our website and had an issue could you please leave a message here so we can try to rectify the issue for you.. thank you.. we are working on the problem and should have it fixed asap.

11.01.2022 There are only three boxes left to count - if I could just get to them. The last week seems to have been overrun with rescues. On the plus side I have a gorgeous black flying-fox in care. He smells so beautiful! He isn't very injured so will be going home next week.

03.01.2022 Today in NSW will be extremely hot. Please watch out for heat stressed wilidlife. Shallow dishes of water in shaded spots will be of enormous assistance (keep the water fresh and cool). If you find heat stressed wildlife place them on a cool, damp towel in a box in a cool, quiet place - remember they will still try to escape. Then call your local wildlife group and follow their instructions - immediately please. If you don't know their number then call your local vet or National Parks office - they will know it.

02.01.2022 Please check on our website for all your xmas bargains.. everything from wrapping paper to the gift.. now is the time to get your orders in so we can get them to you in time for Christmas.. there are some great offers available now.. everythingwildlife.com.au
