25.01.2022 IMPORTANT UPDATE - 6PM 27 MARCH: Following updated health advice, Queenland has now been reclassified as a 'low risk' jurisdiction, and all arrivals from Queens...land will now be required to undergo 14 days self-quarantine on arrival to Western Australia. This change also applies to travellers who arrived in WA earlier today. For more information, please see this post: https://www.facebook.com/MarkMcGowanMP/posts/295340068621512 ---- Following a further community transmission case identified in Queensland, Western Australia has introduced a new interim border control measure. Effective immediately, all new arrivals from Queensland will be required to be tested for COVID-19 immediately (within 48 hours) and self-quarantine for 14 days or until a negative test result is returned. Directions issued yesterday remain in place and continue to apply to anyone who visited the nominated locations since 20 March 2021. For this group of people, they need to be tested immediately and self-quarantine for the full 14 days from the time they were at the high-risk location. These travellers will also be required to undertake a day 11 test. The list of locations can be found here: https://www.qld.gov.au//cor/current-status/contact-tracing The interim border control measure is based on the latest health advice from the WA Chief Health Officer, who has been in contact with his counterpart in Queensland. It will be in place until at least 12.01am Tuesday 30 March 2021. The situation in Queensland continues to unfold, I thank everyone for their patience and understanding during this time as we do what is necessary to help WA remain free from community transmission. Further border control measures could be introduced, based on updated health advice. The WA Government will not hesitate to take further action and move Queensland from ‘very low risk’ to ‘low risk’ if necessary, based on the health advice. If this were to occur, all Queensland arrivals would need to self-quarantine for a full 14 days, no matter the result of their COVID-19 test. Thanks to our border controls and strong health response, Western Australia has been free from community transmission for more than 11 months - we want to keep it that way. I understand this new measure will be frustrating for some, but it is crucial we all do out bit to keep our friends, family and our community safe. People need to heed the health advice which has kept us safe. We need to stay the course.

15.01.2022 --- WA border controls strengthened as QLD risk rating elevated --- Due to the evolving COVID-19 situation in Queensland, additional steps are being taken to k...eep WA safe. Effective immediately all arrivals from Queensland will now need to complete 14 days of self-quarantine. These new Directions also apply to those people who arrived from Queensland earlier today. Initially, those travellers were required to self-quarantine until a negative COVID-19 result was returned, however due to updated health advice a full 14-day period of self-quarantine is now required. The changes to WA’s controlled interstate border are based on updated health advice from the Chief Health Officer. The Emergency Management Team, including the myself, the Health Minister, Police Commissioner and Chief Health Officer, convened a meeting late this afternoon to review new information from QLD. Based on further information from QLD, the WA Chief Health Officer has recommended QLD’s risk rating be adjusted from ‘very low risk’ to ‘low risk’. The situation continues to be monitored regularly and the State Government will not hesitate to reintroduce the hard border with QLD if the health advice recommends that course of action. Under Western Australia's controlled interstate border travel will only be permitted from or via Queensland under strict conditions: - self-quarantine for 14 days in a suitable premise; - present for a COVID-19 test on day 11; - all Perth Airport arrivals to undergo a health screening and temperature test; - be prepared to take a COVID-19 test at the airport COVID clinic, if deemed necessary by a health clinician (voluntary asymptomatic testing available for all airport arrivals); - land arrivals to be met at the border checkpoint, for a health screening and to have their G2G Pass declaration checked before proceeding to self-quarantine premise; - complete a G2G Pass declaration, stipulating they do not have any COVID-19 symptoms and which jurisdictions the traveller has been in over the previous 14 days. I understand this will be an inconvenience for many people, but it’s important we do everything we need to keep WA safe.

14.01.2022 Wed like to wish everyone a safe & happy Easter We cant wait to explore the world with you soon, until then well be adding to the bucket list and helping you do the same...Enjoy your Easter eggs today!

08.01.2022 In the wake of the escalating situation overnight, Western Australia will re-introduce a hard border for travel from Queensland. Following updated advice from t...he WA Chief Health Officer this morning, Queensland will transition from a ‘low risk’ State to a ‘medium risk’ State under WA’s controlled interstate border regime, from 12.01am tomorrow, 30 March 2021. Travel from Queensland will no longer be permitted, unless you are an exempt traveller. This also applies to anyone who may have been in Queensland since 27 March and has not completed 14 days in a ‘very low risk’ State or Territory. The exemption list is limited to: certain senior Government officials; certain active military personnel; a member of the Commonwealth Parliament; a person carrying out functions under a law of the Commonwealth; a person responsible for transport freight or logistics; and anyone who is given approval by State Emergency Coordinator or an authorised officer. The final category includes compassionate reasons - including those Western Australians that may have travelled to Queensland recently and need to return to WA. Exempt travellers arriving to WA must: self-quarantine in a suitable premise for 14 days; present for an initial COVID-19 test on arrival at Perth Airport; present for a COVID-19 test if any symptoms develop during quarantine; present for a COVID-19 test on day 11 after arrival in WA (if still in WA). Anyone who has arrived in WA from Queensland between March 20 and March 26 (inclusive) will continue to be contacted by WA Police, using the G2G Pass system, with the latest advice regarding new Queensland and Byron Bay locations. It is important that these people familiarise themselves with the latest exposure sites, as contact tracing continues to uncover more sites. Information can be viewed here: https://www.qld.gov.au//cor/current-status/contact-tracing and https://www.health.nsw.gov.au//case-locations-and-alerts.a People who have been to these exposure locations must get tested immediately, self-quarantine for 14 days and present for a day 11 test. For anyone who has come into contact with someone who recently arrived from Queensland, self-quarantine is not necessary and COVID-19 testing is only required if symptoms develop. As previously announced, anyone who has arrived from Queensland since 12:01am, Saturday 27 March is required to: self-quarantine in a suitable premise until you have spent 14 days in WA; present for a COVID-19 test if any symptoms develop during quarantine; present for a COVID-19 test on day 11 after arrival in WA (if still in WA). For more information on these and other COVID-19 measures, please visit www.wa.gov.au/covid19 We are thinking of our friends and family in Queensland as they go into lockdown this evening, they are doing the right thing to keep Queensland safe and protect us all across the country. We have been monitoring the situation closely and have scaled up our border controls as required to keep our community safe - this hard border measure is necessary and our best defence in keeping the virus out. I know this change will be disruptive for many people and put many people’s plans in disarray, however we need to put the health of our WA community first. If you are a recent arrival from Queensland or arriving today, before midnight, you are free to depart WA and return to Queensland.

01.01.2022 I have an important update on WA's controlled interstate border since this morning. Unfortunately, South Australia today recorded three local cases of COVID-19,... after recording no community transmission for an extended period of time. When we announced the new controlled border regime, we said any new community cases in other states or territories would be assessed in detail by the WA Chief Health Officer, to determine if any possible changes to our border controls were necessary. The WA Chief Health Officer has consulted with SA Health and reviewed the details of the new community cases and the current situation in South Australia. As a result, based on the latest health advice the following changes to WA’s controlled interstate border will come into effect immediately: Anyone arriving from South Australia at Perth Airport will now be tested for COVID-19 on arrival (or within 24 hours of arrival at another COVID clinic) and given a Direction to self-quarantine for 14 days in a suitable premise; These arrivals will also be required to be tested for COVID-19 on Day 11; Anyone arriving via road from South Australia will be given a Direction to self-quarantine for 14 days in a suitable premise and required to take a COVID-19 test on Day 2 and on Day 11; Anyone who arrived from SA earlier today and yesterday, via road or air, will be contacted by WA officials and will be required to be tested for COVID-19 in the next 48 hours and self-quarantine until results are returned. These are initial steps the State Government is taking to protect all Western Australians, and will be reviewed regularly. We will monitor the position in South Australia very closely and will strengthen measures if required. We understand these changes will cause frustration for many people, but these steps are being taken on the best health advice to protect everyone. The State Government thanks all arrivals for their patience and understanding during this difficult period.
