What if there were easy, smaller things we could put in place to make our new year get off to a better start than we imagined? Being healthy may be hard, but being sick is much harder. Being fit is hard work, but being unfit is harder. Being flexible is hard, but moving around like somebody much older than you is harder. Mastering our mind through meditation and self-discipline is hard, but having no control of our mind is much harder. Starting a health routine may be hard, the longer we put it off the harder it becomes to start.

Often in everyday life now we sit and stress more, impacting our spine and posture. One study measured the weight of the head as it moves forward beyond the lateral posture line (or what we often call forward head posture). It was found that, in a neutral position, the average human head weighs 10-12 pounds (4.5-5.5 kg). ... However, as the head moves forward, this weight increases drastically. At 15 degrees, the head weighs 27 pounds (12.3 kilograms)! At 30 degrees, it increases to 40 pounds (18.2 kilograms)!! At 45 degrees, it weighs 49 pounds (22.3 kilograms)!!! At 60 degrees, it exerts a force of 60 pounds on the cervical spine. (27.3 kilograms)!!!!
