25.01.2022 Congratulations to Nikki Murphy on hitting her 50 kg deadlift tonight - so very proud of Nikki's progress, she's worked incredibly hard to develop her strength and endurance and has great focus on her patterning and core stability work. Big things ahead for this legend !

25.01.2022 If you’ve been here for a while you’ll know I don’t believe in foam rolling for the sake of it. Self release can assist in creating a new range of motion, but you have to integrate it into a new pattern or the range will be lost. Here’s a nice little movement flow that will help you identify any tight spots, which you can then work on with a roller/ball etc, then repeat the flow to integrate the new range of motion you’ve just created. Try it out and see how you feel !

24.01.2022 End of year breakfast with these legends. Feeling very proud of these guys and their achievements this year, its so gratifying to see all your progress and the happy faces each and every week. Lets finish the year with some hard work, cant wait to get back into it in 2018!!!

24.01.2022 Still stretching to warm up ??? Try this instead. Grab a cone or even a small ball and balance it on the very tips of your fingers while exploring all kinds of movements, trying not to let the cone fall. Including activities like this in your warm up helps with balance, mobility, as well as giving you a dynamic stretch. Most importantly it wakes up your brain !!!

24.01.2022 Rotation, anti-rotation, locomotion and kettlebells - that’s what Saturdays are made of This week in training, we’ve revisited the Commando Lizard - looks deceptively simple but it’s an intensely challenging core coordination movement. Stay low and go Great job crew !

23.01.2022 Shout out to this stellar bunch of hardworking chicks, strong women rock

23.01.2022 Last blast for the year - Merry Christmas to all ! Thank you to everyone who has supported the growth of Evolution Movement during 2017. Cant wait for 2018

22.01.2022 Single arm swings, Med ball burpees, plankjacks and animal flow....that's what Saturdays are made of

22.01.2022 Being able to control your bodyweight in motion is fundamentally important to maintaining a healthy, functional body. After all what good is mobility if you cant integrate it into your system ? Tonight the crew spent some time improvising flow moves and exploring their range of motion. Great work team !! Looks like fun ? Come and join us - your first class is free !

21.01.2022 Very pleased to be supporting Mens Health Day at the Bridgewater Bulls Baseball Club today ! Promoting healthy bodies and minds for all, a great initiative !

20.01.2022 So much truth. Working out isn't about selfies and half naked ab shots. Its about your improving your quality of life so you can bloody well enjoy it for longer :)

20.01.2022 The diaphragm is a linchpin to well, just about everything ! I spend a lot of my day watching people breathe and move and there's rarely a day when diaphragm function isn't involved. The good news is that its an easy release (and you can do it yourself!) and combined with activation and integration patterning, you can see instant improvements in function, strength and power.

18.01.2022 This is an excellent read. I've never been a fan of static stretching and mindless foam rolling. My view is that if you keep having to stretch or release the same muscles, you haven't found the real issue - give the body stability and it will grant you mobility. You might even find those "tight" muscles resolve all by themselves.

16.01.2022 Here's the Thursday night legends getting into some deadlifts for heavy doubles. Great work crew !

16.01.2022 This. The brain is where it's at. The brain does whatever it needs to do to keep you safe. If your physical safety is perceived to be threatened, say bye bye to things like strength and mobility. That's why floor based movement can be so powerful - regress to progress. Same goes for your emotional stressors. Stress will rob you of strength, it will change how you move. Get that stuff dealt with, and watch the mojo return.

16.01.2022 Great class this morning - focus on kettlebell and functional core work - super efforts put in by all !!

14.01.2022 Very pleased to be supporting Men’s Health Day at the Bridgewater Bulls Baseball Club today ! Promoting healthy bodies and minds for all, a great initiative !

14.01.2022 Part of our fun warmup this morning, playing the balloon game ! We used hands, feet, hopping, bear crawls, and as this little clip shows, crab positions to keep the balloons from touching the ground :) While it's a bit of fun, what I love about this clip is you can see the guys executing crab kicks, underswitches, and other animal flow locomotion movements without even thinking about it :)

14.01.2022 Here is an excellent practical demonstration of why you shouldn't stretch just because something "feels tight". It might actually need contraction not lengthening Assess don't guess. Don't know how to assess? Come see me :)

14.01.2022 Geraldine has working with me for a while now and continues to go from strength to strength ! Extremely hardworking and never gives up. No one is messing with this Wonder Woman. Here she is pulling 5 x 5 @ 65kg. Love that vertical lockout :)

14.01.2022 Congratulations Wayne on your outstanding performance at the World Championships - coming back from a pretty big injury to throw equal first in the world is an amazing effort. So proud to have been able to be part of your team ! Gold as far as I'm concerned :)

13.01.2022 Congratulations to the super awesome Derryn Tonkin on nailing her 20kg Turkish Get Up today - and then demolishing 5 sets of 100kg deadlift doubles with OH Press (cos, cardio...)

13.01.2022 When in your everyday or even athletic life do you hold yourself completely braced for minutes and minutes on end, not moving an inch? Yeah, never, so why do we see people planking for 10 minutes and thinking it's some sort of achievement. Active stabilization (moving), controlling the transverse plane (rotation) - that's where you get your "strong core" from.

13.01.2022 Some snippets of our Saturday morning class - 830 am If you want to try something different, then come and play with us :)

12.01.2022 Training at Evolution Movement is different. We train primal movement patterns and whole body coordination - quality of movement is always the priority.

10.01.2022 One of my frustrations is seeing people doing hip flexor stretches because they are "tight" - over and over again !! If something keeps getting tight, it's probably weak and locking down for stability. Your poor psoas isn't the problem - get assessed and find out the real cause of your dysfunction :)

10.01.2022 Had an amazing time at the Advanced Neurokinetic Therapy workshop this week. We learned all about how scars, ligaments, and other cool things like eye movement affect movement patterns, and how to identify and resolve the real drivers of pain and dysfunction. It really reinforced to me (again!) the importance of assessing not guessing. Book in for your NKT consultation and find out whats causing your movement issues. I guarantee youll be surprised

08.01.2022 Had a great afternoon workshopping with Wayne Willis Fitness & Performance and Adam Cannella - Movement Therapy integrating our various practices and sharing knowledge. Heres a side by side of some work we did on Wayne - following some detective work we found his toe extensors were affecting his lower back and opposite hip, notice the easier walk and more toe drive in the second video once we cleared that up.

08.01.2022 We work hard in class but we also have lots of fun. Play encourages natural movement and gets the brain ready for the session

07.01.2022 Always ask WHY - muscles don't get "tight" for no reason. Tightness does not equal the need to stretch. In NKT we identify the dysfunctional relationships that cause faulty movement patterns.

06.01.2022 This is powerful stuff for those in the fitness industry to remember. Getting strong isn't about the Instagram selfie and the "likes", it's about making your life better and helping you to live longer. This is why Evolution Movement exists, and it's never too late to start.

05.01.2022 Stop the mindless foam rolling and get dynamic in your warmups to hit save on your flexibility.

04.01.2022 This. Moving well first is a fundamental, you should never load up dysfunction to serve your ego. But another issue we can see in the gym is moving well and never progressing your load, in which case you're just spinning your wheels. People, myself included, often let their brains get in the way when the load gets heavier. Trust in the work you've done already, and focus on the movement :)

02.01.2022 Super Saturday class full of primal movements, explosive power and body control. Well done team !

01.01.2022 Set the crew quite the challenge tonight - doing what is meant to be a partner workout solo - didnt expect anyone to finish but these two legends crushed it ! Give this a try and see how far you can get 100 KB swings... 90 goblet lunges (total reps) 80 Russian twist and press 70 squats 60 V-sits 50 renegade rows (total reps) 40 suitcase to overhead 30 med ball slams 20 chin-ups 10 laps of bear crawl Plus a cheeky 10 minute EMOM to start Great work everyone tonight !

01.01.2022 A couple of snippets from this morning's class :) This one was all about intensity. Short and sweet circuits working all the primal movements

01.01.2022 Warmups for Evolution classes always include a variety of animal locomotion and flow moves, encouraging cross body patterning, coordination , stability. More importantly it gets the brain firing and its FUN !!! See if you can spot the foam roller, its one of the few times youll see me allowing their use Like what you see ? Your first class is free so come and give us a try
