24.01.2022 Spring harvest time has started! Always one of our favourite times of the year. Happy harvesting everyone.

24.01.2022 Spring harvest Nectarines and Boysenberry (which later became jam)

22.01.2022 Hope I've had enough Weet-Bix this morning. This rather large Bookleaf Pine needs to be dug out by hand. It will have a stump weighing around 100kgs once cut down to around half a metre and a big tap root in the middle. Wish me luck...

22.01.2022 Thanks to the unseasonal rain we've had in the last couple of months, there's some unusual things to see in our gardens. I've never seen these cacti flower in March before, but here they are. Stunning bit of summer colour.

21.01.2022 Having trouble growing indoor plants in the cool weather? Place a layer of gravel in the water saucer for the pot to sit on. This creates humidity and air flow that is generally lacking indoors.

14.01.2022 Very interesting and unusual job yesterday. Making a succulent sphere to order. This one costs $200. A great Christmas gift idea-3 sizes available (photo is of the middle sized one) or custom spheres made to order

14.01.2022 Is your garden ready for the new flush of growth that spring produces? Despite our unseasonal weather, now is the time to fertilise and prune. This gives plants a kick start for the growing season. With rain still about, it's also a great opportunity to plant out vegies and herbs for the summer and any shrubs, trees or flowers will love these conditions for establishing themselves. I'll be posting up regular gardening tips and horticultural advice, so stay tuned for more. Also, if you have a question to ask, feel free to post it up here and I'll answer as best as I can. Happy gardening

13.01.2022 This is what happens when you forget to harvest your zucchini regularly! (The small one is a regular size for comparison) They might look impressive, but zucchinis are best when small and become woody and lose their sweetness if left to grow like these. However, all is not lost; grated zucchini makes a great nutrient boost in pasta or pizza sauce and chickens love it too. Zucchini and squash make an easy and rewarding summer crop to grow. They just need space to grow into and regular water (avoid water on the leaves however as this may cause a fungal growth). Happy gardening

10.01.2022 The upside of a long, cold winter...Fresh homegrown Brussel Sprouts

09.01.2022 With the winter weather well and truly upon us, it's time to give your roses, fruit trees and any other deciduous plants in your garden a good prune. There's a lot of information on the internet about how to winter prune plants, but we follow a few simple rules: -prune away all weak growth and branches growing towards the centre -Leave 5/6 stems only for roses and only outward growing branches for fruit trees - Always prune a branch close to a node that is pointing away fro...m the centre - Never winter prune during rain, diseases may result -Always fertilise with a controlled release product after pruning. Follow these rules and you can't go wrong. Alternatively, give Evolutions a call and we can do it all for you. Here's a before and after shot of some standard roses trimmed just today. See more

09.01.2022 It's been a long, cold winter but there are signs that spring is coming! Here's some of our favourite spring time blooms. What are your favourite spring plants? Show us what you love about your garden this time of year

05.01.2022 Here's a small example of what we do. This was a garden clean up for a rental property. After pulling, spraying and cutting many weeds and some expert pruning, this is the result. On a quarter acre block, most jobs like this can be done in 2/3 days for less than $1000. Call anytime for a free quote.

03.01.2022 Does your garden soil look like this? Sandy, hydrophobic soils in Perth are all too common. A friend asked me why her plants died in this garden and the answer is all in the soil. If you've been having trouble growing anything in your garden, this is probably the reason. You can test the soil by watering in a good amount and then scratching the surface. If the water took a long time to soak in and is only wet in the top few millimeters, you have this problem too. The solution is to remove some of the existing sand and replace it with compost/manure/soil conditioner and mix it in. Otherwise, use a blended landscape soil mix when planting to fill the individual plant hole in with. Alternatively, you can call Evolutions for a consultation or free quote. Happy gardening.

03.01.2022 A little something we were involved in to help a mum who was brave enough to ask for help.

01.01.2022 We've been doing a lot a garden clean ups lately, (particularly for rental inspections) following from the unseasonal rain that has bought a splendid growth spurt to our gardens. Unfortunately this also brings up lots of weeds! If you are a landlord or a tenant and need your garden tidied up, give us a call. Most properties can be done for around $200, or for bigger properties up to a quarter acre, the cost is usually kept below $500.
