18.01.2022 I’m eating in a deficit, but I’m not noticing any changes DON’T BE AFRAID TO EAT MORE Food doesn’t exist just to be burned off. It is there to provide us with energy and also nourishment. If we are not fuelling ourselves adequately by undereating, our bodies attempt to conserve energy wherever possible. As a result, metabolism can down-regulate, recovery can take longer and performance in the gym can suffer. ... The thing about finding your baseline or maintenance calories is that it is always going to CHANGE depending on a number of factors. The stronger you are, the higher the lean muscle mass and the greater activity level, the more food your body requires to function optimally. As we can see in the first graph, as strength adaptions occur, energy intake needs to increase along with it in order to keep progressing. As soon as our bodies adapt to the stimulus and we fall into a deficit, strength can start to plateau. Until we up our energy intake again, and we then have more energy to lift and train more As we can see in the second graph, if we were to keep our energy intake the same while increasing our training volume, the deficit will initially increase. If energy intake is not adequate enough to meet your requirements, at some point strength can plateau, and hinder your progress long term For this reason, when you start progressing with strength in the gym, your energy requirements need to increase along WITH YOU. Dieting and any sort of energy deficit can be a form of stress on the body, and so it can be unhealthy to be in a deficit for a long period of time. Remember to eat for performance
09.01.2022 Here is a list, including but not limited to, some of the different methods that people can use to alter their appearance. It is the creation of unrealistic beauty standards through methods that remain undisclosed that can be harmful to others. And unfortunately, in some cases it goes as far as profiting from withholding the truth. Whilst results can be motivating for some, they can be incredibly harmful to others if it sets up for unrealistic expectations and completely un...attainable outcomes. Social media will always be around and so will cases like this. The list above just outlines some of the things that can distort our perception. If you find yourself feeling inadequate in comparison, hopefully you can begin to think more critically about what you are seeing. As sometimes, it’s not all that it seems.
