25.01.2022 At Evolve Run Club, we love seeing people trying their best. No matter the result. The journey of our own version of success is an inspiring feat in itself

25.01.2022 Put your hand up or tag someone else who felt like this over the weekend

24.01.2022 We all have those days where energy and motivation is low, but sometimes if you at least give yourself the chance by getting out the door anyway, you may get one of those runs that’s turns bad days around. . Shoes on, out the door, and let your body and mind remind you why we love this sport so much. . #evolverunclub #erc #motivation #runningquotes #runningmotivation #marathon #10km #5km #evolve #running #runner #melbournerunners #runningcommunity #gorun #lovetherun #runcoaching #runcoach #runclub #run #community #trailrunning #ultramarathon #justrun

It’s only $5 entry to go into the draw to win one of 40 pairs of shoes for various running adventures (plogging/strava art etc) or a 5km. Being held all of next week with lots of opportunity for all runners to win, and 100% of funds goes to Beyond Blue. An awesome way to spice up your week of running while possibly winning a pair of s...hoes and giving back to a much needed cause at the same time Please share this around to any of your family or friends that may be interested in jumping on board too Full details in the event below

21.01.2022 Coach @dion_finocchiaro and @sethmander1983 caught up briefly with a run, shoe drop off and coffee. @evolve_run_club can’t wait to be able to finally start up our live coached training sessions at Caulfield park. When it’s safe to do so, we will announce further updates as they develop. Keep that ticking away with your training in the meantime

21.01.2022 Andrew Dubar is one of our long term legacy athletes. He came to coach Dion in 2017 looking to get a qualifying time for the Famous Boston Marathon. Working a a pilot and being a father of two girls, Andrew required a lot of flexibility with his training due to time zone differences, weather changes and long hours flying. . Having a regular running structure of between 3-5 runs per week to fit in with his work/life balance, Andrew has gone from a 3:24 marathon in 2017 to no...w running a 2:48 in 2019 in the Chicago Marathon. . He has run PB’s over every distance since following the close guidance of Coach @dion_finocchiaro. . Last year I interviewed Andrew before the @gcmarathon. The link to that read is attached here. . https://strava.app.link/3Z0MfbPoq9 See more

20.01.2022 Craig came to Evolve Run Club in 2019 and has shown great signs of being a sub 3 marathon runner. That’s a pretty incredible goal for anyone. Let alone a 50+ runner. Craig certainly has ability far beyond his years and we know that Craig will strive for the best and have a team in his corner along the way to do so. Craig works very hard to look after himself, which is a credit to his work ethic. He is also one a few people with a birthday on Christmas Eve. Is that lucky or unlucky? 1 or 2 sets of presents? Be like Craig

20.01.2022 This is Jye Orchard. A former high level Australian Rules player. He officially joined coach Dion in October 2019 but trained with his partner in crime Bryn Weadon of the 4am running club for much longer prior. His goals were to run and finish the SCC100km, which he did in 11hrs 7mins! His next goals were run a sub 3 marathon, a sub 1:27 half marathon and regularly run the MS half marathon for his late father in law. . Jye works full time as an electrician while balancing l...ife as a husband and father by running at 4am most days of the week and having one day of the week off training. . A genuinely awesome guy that does everything in his power to stick to the plan, do all the one %’s and has by doing so, deserves his 2:55 marathon, 1:20 half marathon, 16:50 for 5km and 9:30 for 3km. He is a privilege to coach and a pleasure to know. See more

19.01.2022 The actual joy of running is by working towards the goal and having the belief that you can achieve your best performance on any given run. By keeping yourself accountable and knowing you get out what you put in you will find a deep fulfilment knowing you’ll be ready no matter what happens. . The actual race is your victory run to celebrate making the start line and being around other individuals. Go have your victory lap in style

19.01.2022 Wow what a week for our Evolve runners. With park run returning this week, the 2XU triathlon series and Two Bays trail run. With a lot of other local races on the horizon too, there is a lot of work going on behind the scenes. 17.01.2022 This is Lee Eddison. He joined @evolve_run_club in 2018 and has regularly put his hand up for the local ultramarathon scene and occasionally placing on the podium. @yorkshire_ultra_runner has battled with the Covid lockdowns here in Melbourne and has been really resourceful and positive with having certain goals to keep him motivated. We felt it would be a good opportunity to ask Lee about how he kept himself going and what were the causes meant to him. What events did you ...do and why? Bright Virtual Running Festival 100km 10 x 10km. 10 day challenge to complete 100km. IFinished in a little over 8 days in 8hr11mins. Run Against Violence team challenge To raise awareness of the huge problem of domestic violence in Australia. Team of runners and walkers aiming to go virtually 1300km from Broken Hill to Sydney our team has made it over 2700km with one day left. Personally I set the objective of going for a solo gold level which was 200km in the 19 days. I initially signed up for the silver of 130km but then thought that the gold would be really challenging especially with COVID-19 restrictions of 1 hour of exercise a day. I achieved my 200km during my run on the 17th day. How did you find Motivation and your body? The challenges allowed me to have a focus on something to achieve other than training for training sakes, and it also pushed me to get back some consistency after time out from a niggle. The RAV challenge was always going to need discipline, and knowing it was helping raise awareness for an important subject gave me that push. The body held up really well, managing the load with my scheduled sessions and running to an hour most days with one shorter recovery day thrown in after the first challenge was completed. I feel fitter for having completed the number of kilometres in the timeframe. Long term goals My focus is on ultra-marathons on the trails. Ideally 50-100km trail races as well as challenge my mara PB of 2:52 from 8yrs ago. Way to go Lee. A great way to keep motivated and may there be many more successes to come

16.01.2022 Well done to our trail running guru @theflyingbrick_ #Repost Woweeee what a day. Finally back in Melbourne (flying after running 60+km is not recommended ) and yet to fully process all that happened at @trailrunningsa Five Peaks but safe to say there was smiles, there was beauty and joy, annnnddd there was a seemingly never ending pain cave .... Still loved every second and so happy with how I pulled myself out of every bad mindset and painful situation to finish stronger than I thought I would with 20km to go (although hardly felt it at the time!) . . 1st Female, 3rd Overall And my longest race ever ticked off. Can’t wait for more! Couldn’t be more grateful to @trailrunningsa and the whole community in Adelaide for welcoming me with open arms and making me feel incredibly at home. I shall be back . 14.01.2022 What an incredible year from Jessica Hull. Check out her stats and try running her 1500m or 5km pace for 100m in your strides before your next workout By the way, her pace is 2:40/km or 64 seconds for 400m.

14.01.2022 Way to go team. Another great week from some our evolving athletes. We may be training for our own reasons and events, but we can always inspire and motivate each other through our hard work and encouraging others

14.01.2022 A good listen for the impatient, frustrated or injured runner. This is a project that Dane and Dion will be working on to help answer your running related questions. Have a listen and send through any questions or requests for topics next month. #Repost Run Culture ... Patience is a skill that the even the best of us at times struggle to practice. So easy is it to become frustrated when those goals that you set, or want to set, are just far enough out of reach - at least for now. It is important at these times that we remain level-headed and remember to look at the bigger picture. Australian 50km Record Holder, Dion Finocchiaro, joins Dane Verwey on the latest podcast to discuss how as runners we can write our own yellow pages of training - the kind of training that doesn’t tear as easily as a flimsy magazine. Dion likens such training to a well-baked cake - not too runny, not over done, but instead even throughout. It is an insightful and informed conversation on how we can stay grounded in our training, recover from injury, and potentially how such an approach can keep us injury free.
