23.01.2022 Catering for a variety of fitness abilities...with a structure to support it Admittedly, achieving individualisation and catering to individual competency and capacity in the Group Training setting is difficult and is not as precise as a 1 on 1 service. However, Group Training shouldn’t mean you have to complete the same exercises, intensities and volumes as everyone else. After all, your abilities are not all the same. At Evolve, our system and Tiered Program provide an opportunity for members new to training or those returning to training to gradually develop strength, fitness and movement quality to support their long term development within the Group Training environment.

23.01.2022 We’re looking for a casual Personal Trainer/S&C Coach to join our team! If you think you could be a good fit or know someone that might be, get in contact! More details pictured... #newcastlensw #personaltrainer #strengthandconditioningcoach

22.01.2022 Good to be back

22.01.2022 - What do you demand from your core? The stronger you get in the gym, the physically harder your job is or the more intense your sporting pursuits are, can all increase the demand of your core to maintain stability to both minimise your risk of injury and improve your ability to perform. When the ability of your core to stabilise is not relative to your demands it is exposed to, we may have a problem...a weak link ... If your demands are high, here are 4 areas we like to consider when training to develop core strength: 1 First and foremost, progress appropriately 2 Stimulus may need to be high. Once a certain level of core strength/stability has been established, some exercises may not provide enough stimulus for meaningful adaptation relative to demands 3 Integration - the core functions as part of a system. Think systemic strength. Eg. both hip and core musculature working together to maintain structural integrity during a carry 4 Strength training that is not specific to developing core strength, also develops core strength...SIGNIFICANTLY!!! In some cases, arguably more than core specific exercises SOME OF OUR FAVOURITES CARRY VARIATIONS - Allows high external loads = high stimulus to compliment high demands - Are Functionally Integrated type movements which challenges the system relative to function - Challenges the core from multiples directions - Can be regressed - Limited skill and equipment needed Just a few of many easy to implement Carry variations - see video

14.01.2022 We all know the hype and benefits surrounding High Intensity Interval Training (HIIT), but is jumping in head-first really giving you the best results and looking after your well-being? Developing work capacity at lower intensities works wonders with not only making it safer when performing HIIT, but also ensures you are able to maximise on the benefits of more intense training such as HIIT. Lower intensity work allows you to progressively develop soft tissue capacity and ... resiliency so you are able to tolerate the inherent high stressors of high intensity work (eg. skipping and straight line running develops tendon health to prepare for high stress activities such as jumps and shuttle runs) = less risk of injury Lower intensity work develops your aerobic system which increases your ability to recover between high intensity efforts and allows you to perform more efforts = more benefit So what happens if you jump straight into HIIT anyway without any lower capacity development? It usually ends up in one or a combination of the following: feel crook or not able to complete sessions - usually occurs when you have the ‘engine’ to produce higher intensities, but you don’t have the ‘fuel’ system to recover and repeat efforts. end up working at a lower intensity anyway because you don’t have the ability to work at higher intensity, therefore not reaping the benefits of HIIT increase risk of injuries associated with lack of tissue resiliency, overuse or a mismatch in load and capacity

This one is going to be killer for a weeknight - make the filling on a Sunday, then whack some Passata in a dish on Monday, fill the aldente shells with the filling (4mins for 2 trays - I timed it ), smother with more passata, a generous sprinkle of cheese and set and forget in the oven! . Look, I even had time to clean my mess in the kitchen before serving #christmasmiracle . Who wants to give this one a whirl? We already have a tray prepped and loaded for tomorrow! .
