25.01.2022 COOKBOOK CALL OUT! Most of us have been stuck at home over the past few months, and we’re sure that during that time many of you have been making yummy food in the kitchen. We’re working on an Evolve Housing cookbook and we would love to include some of your favourite recipes! If you have a particular dish that you love to make and want to share with us, please email the recipe (including ingredients and method) to us at [email protected]. ... We would also love to see a photo of the dish, and any comments you might have about why it’s so special to you. We’ll compile the submissions and make sure that you have access to a copy!

This year’s theme Always Was, Always Will Be, is a powerful statement pointing out Indigenous sovereignty over the land, who have occupied and cared for it for over 65,000 years. For over 60,000 years, the area comprising present day Parramatta has been occupied by the Burramattagal people, a clan of the Darug, who first settled along the upper reaches of the Parramatta River. 19.01.2022 You may have noticed another resident-friendly addition on our website... the introduction of our new Webchat service! This new feature allows residents to live chat with our contact centre in real time. This is available during business hours; that is: Monday to Friday - 9.00 a.m. to 5.00 p.m. This new, accessible feature is located on every page of our website, on the right side of your screens and will provide tailored support and query resolutions for our residents.... But that’s not all! Our new and improved report a repair form is also live! To further enhance resident user-experience on our website we have relaunched a new report a repair form. This form allows residents to lodge repair enquires online, saving them the hassle of coming into or offices to lodge this service. Upgrades include: Cleaner and more concise easier for our contact centre to receive and action requests based on urgency type. 16.01.2022 With the recent completion of our Newcastle development, we welcome our newest resident Siobhan who has just signed her lease for a brand new accessible apartment! Siobhan is 20 years old and has been living on her own for two years, in a unit that has recently been listed for sale by her past-landlord. Prior to acquiring an SDA apartment in our development, she was worried that she would have to go back to living with her mum and sister, so the signing of her new lease has e...nabled Siobhan to regain her independence and we’re thrilled for her! ‘My name is Siobhan and I’m 20 years old. I work for Liberator Australia as the New South Wales Augmentative Alternative Communication (AAC) Ambassador and I love music’ she said. ‘With the amazing support from Muru Pathways, I have secured a unit in Evolve Housing’s Merewether St building and absolutely love it. I cannot wait to move in and start my next chapter in the heart of Newcastle. Once lockdown ends, I look forward to venturing out around the city and walking the waterfront.’ Congratulations Siobhan and enjoy your new home! 12.01.2022 Evolve Housing residents, Today Evolve Housing will be upgrading our contact centre Interactive Voice Response (IVR) system, designed with a focus on accessibility, ease of use and creating a stronger connection between Evolve Housing residents and our business. 11.01.2022 TENANT SATISFACTION SURVEY RESULTS |86% of Evolve Housing residents and 90% of EchoRealty residents are satisfied with our overall services. Thank you to everyone who submitted responses to our Tenant Satisfaction Survey. We had an incredible response rate of 33% for our Evolve Housing residents including the residents in our profit-for-purpose real estate EchoRealty.... All participants were automatically entered into a draw to win one of 50 Westfield Gift Vouchers and we are pleased to announce that 50 winners have been selected at random we have arranged for these to be delivered. We truly appreciate the time and effort spent by those who gave us feedback. Everything we do as a business is centred around improving the lives of our residents and these responses help us enhance the services we deliver to our residents. We look forward to further improving our services and growing our relationship in the years to come.

10.01.2022 The latest edition of Evolve News has reached your letterboxes and emails. In this edition we inform you (with regret!) that our Annual Resident Meeting has been postponed and Christmas Party cancelled for 2020. While we would love to hold these events this year, and look forward to it every year, we have researched venues and believe that we will not be able to safely accommodate enough of our residents to be able to properly run them. ... Your health and well-being is our paramount concern and we hope to be able to hold the Annual Resident Meeting in 2021, and will keep you updated about this! While this has been difficult for many of us, we’ve had some great digital experiences with our residents, particularly with our Resident Advisory Group (RAG). The RAG is still meeting monthly via Zoom to ensure that your voice continues to be heard and we will continue to do so during these challenging times.... 07.01.2022 Opportunity Pathways is a voluntary statewide program that provides support to social housing clients in accessing employment, training and work opportunities. In these trying times, it is amazing to hear such great results from the programs we run. We hope this testimonial inspires you as it has inspired us. Our participant is 53 years old woman who lost her job in November 2019 due to bullying and poor management. She used all her savings and Credit Card funds to maintain ...her weekly rent payments while desperately trying to secure a new job. Being a 53 year old woman she knew it would be challenging for her to find employment due to her age. She had to go on the Centrelink Job Seeker Program for the first time in her life as she was unable to pay her weekly rent. Even though she was feeling like the world was against her she was not giving up. We referred her to Opportunity Pathways program who straight away assisted her with her employment search! They helped her with a resume and used their connections to link her with potential employers. Our participant was put on the Rent Choice Assist Subsidy to relieve her financial burden and help her focus on securing another job. This subsidy helped her sustain her tenancy and within 6 months she was back in the workforce and off her Centrelink benefits. Our participant has now requested to exit from the Rent Choice Assist Program even though we offered her the opportunity to remain on the program for another month. 02.01.2022 In 2016, homelessness in Australia had increased by 13.7% in 5 years (ABS Census, 2016). Fast forward to 2020, the world is in the midst of a global pandemic, unemployment rates have grown, and more individuals and families are faced with the reality of housing and financial stress. Even before the outbreak of COVID-19 almost 120,000 people were facing homeless every night in Australia. We are saddened but not shocked by this and Evolve believes that prioritizing investment ...in social and affordable housing will give community housing providers the ability to prevent these individuals and families from falling into poverty, leading to better social outcomes for communities at large. In 2020, the NSW government committed to halving street homelessness across NSW by 2025. This pledge is a step in the right direction and we are very proud to be working on the Together Home project; delivering stable housing and wrap-around support for hundreds of rough-sleepers facing homelessness every night.
