24.01.2022 Honour the Coach Honour the Individual Honour Fitness Movement is life. We were born to push, pull, hinge and squat. These patterns are innate and natural to all of us. We need to honour our body's amazing capabilities and I believe that fitness is the veichle that can take us, our bodies and minds, on our journey through life.... Have you been into fitness for a good while now? Have you tried challenges and got some temporary results, only to lose them just as fast as they were gained, sending you on a yo-yo cycle of highs and lows? Is your fitness regime giving you long term sustainably, or are you short changing yourself by chasing quick fixes and expecting the wrong type of results? Learn to enjoy your movement, ask yourself: "Where is your fitness journey taking you?" Don't worry about the next 8 weeks, worry about the next 20 years. I have been involved with health and fitness in some capacity for over 15 years. I hold a deep passion for helping others thrive in their health and fitness journey. I am constantly pushing myself to grow professionally and personally in order to serve this industry we call fitness. I want my community to reach their potential in all aspects of their lives and the way I deliver this is through physical fitness. I am available for consultations and assessments now. Assess don't guess. Find out exactly where you stand with your body, your movement, and your work capacity. Contact me if you want to work on a plan together that will take you where you want to be when you're in your 80's, instead of just the next 8 weeks. 0451172375

09.01.2022 Have you heard of the Olympic lifts? There's only two of them, the Snatch and the Clean and Jerk. These lifts are made up of a few related movements with the barbell. They include, the Deadlift, the Squat Clean, the Power Clean, the Power Snatch, the Front Squat, the Jerk, the Shoulder Press, the Push Press, and the Overhead Squat, to name a few. Before attempting the Olympic lifts ask yourself: "why am I doing this lift?" "Is it functional to my goals?" "Do I have the moto...r control and the neuromuscular endurance to perform these fast dynamic contractions safely and effectively?" If you're a beginner, I have to tell you, you have no right doing these quick lifts. In fact I would strongly urge against it. Why? Because they are dynamic and extremely fast. This alone calls for caution regardless if you're a beginner or advanced trainer. But the main reason is because you need to build a strong base of support focused around slow and controlled contractions as well as a foundation of absolute strength first to truly qualify to play with these lifts. The good news is some of the lifts that make up the quick lifts are great foundational movements, not just for beginners, but for all levels of skill and development. The Deadlift, the Front Squat, The Shoulder Press and the Overhead Squat are available to many people who have the right range of motion in their shoulders and hips. In fact, just training these lifts alone and their variations for the rest of your training life could satisfy all your functional needs. Let's master the basics first before jumping ahead to the lifts further down the strength continuum. Earn the right to Snatch a barbell. Book a consultation and an assessment with me today to see where you sit on the strength continuum and we can create a long term plan together to get you to your goal. You may not even want to Clean and Jerk, and that's just fine, just because everyone seems to be doing it at the moment doesn't mean it's safe or correct. 0451172375

05.01.2022 What motivates you to go after what you want? Do you have a burning desire? Do you jump out of bed in the morning and can't wait to get after your goals? It's OK if you don't, motivation is finite and hard to pin down. Let me tell you what really drives our behaviors, it's the things that we consider the most important to us in our lives. These are called our priorities. For most of us they look something like this: Work, the kids, our family and friends are a few. Some peop...le enjoy socialising and having a wine, some like watching sports or enjoying a beer with their mates. Some of us love training, that's one of the reasons we become coaches. Do you spend most of your time working? Do you put others before yourself? Do you find yourself at the end of the day exhausted and the tank empty with no time for your health and fitness program? It's not uncommon. The reality for most of us is that we have a whole list of priorities that come before our health and fitness, and that's perfectly fine, the real key is making your priorities work alongside it. I can tell you if you find out what your most important priorities are, you will have insight and also the key to what is driving your behavior. The real skill is aligning your current lifestyle with your fitness goals to make them work in synergy with each other. One way to help support your lifestyle is to focus on what's called the Basic Lifestyle Guidelines, (BLG's) which we'll touch on in another post, and we will work on them together to establish great habits that support your health throughout the consultation and coaching process. We will work on this in the consultation process by asking specific questions about your lifestyle, and what we uncover will give us insight into what is really driving your behavior. Once we have some data, we can use this information to work around your lifestyle and tailor a training program that is individual to you and you only. This is personalised fitness. This is what you need. A program that works in alignment to your lifestyle. If you are ready to go after your fitness goals give me a call and we will organise a one on one personal consultation and create a plan of action to help you get from where you are right now to where you want to be. 0451172375
